That looks like a fun ride, despite the cold and wind. I've ridden in wind like that in Death Valley. Of course it wasn't cold, but I had the added element of getting sandblasted a lot of the time. After a while it's exhausting. But, for me anyway, those are the kinds of rides you end up remembering the most, and talking about most often.
Well said. I wasn't able to enjoy the scenery quite as much because of the weather, but this section still ended up being one of the most memorable of the trip.
Was that why the AT went away, because it wasn't good 2-up? Last year I thought I was going to sell the dual sport. I didn't even put 100 miles on it. But this winter I've been dreaming up all sorts of adventures to do on it so it's staying! Wife not happy...she wanted it gone! 🤣 I've concluded that a small dual sport combined with a big ADV bike is a perfect combination.
@@Tiger993 The AT was a great two up but maintenance, air filter, oil, plugs, valves was quite the nightmare. My wife would only ride maybe once a year and I was always on the 690. IDK, Im thinking she will just drive chase if need be. I want to include her but her comfort zone for a long ride is pretty much zero!😀
Really enjoy your videos ! Im looking for some advice i bought a 05 harley roadglide a few years ago and i want to do some long trips from here in southern Indiana to colorado my issue is even with an expensive seat i pray for death after about 20 minutes any suggestions on seat pads or anything? Thanks in advanced.
And yes the harley was an epic mistake lies were told i didnt know any better ill never buy another one. Next bike will be a adventure touring bike now that i know what need and want.
@@miketennant8154 I'm sorry to hear of your buyer's remorse. If I had enough money and garage space, I'd wouldn't mind having a Road Glide amongst my collection. For seats, I had a Seth Laam seat on my FJR that I could ride all day. On my KTM, I have a Sargent seat that I can ride all day on as well. The stock seat on both of these bikes became unrideable for me after about 100 miles. The Sargent and Laam seats both had a wider shape and used much, much higher quality foam than the OEM seats. Also, I can't ride without a lot of air circulation under my backside to keep the skin dry. I have used a Beadrider beaded seat cover and it worked great. Now, I use a mesh seat cover and it works just as well and looks a little better than the beaded cover. Hope that helps!
Hello Tiger 993. I have watched all your videos,, several times. Even all the FJR videos. Tell me...... since you have been riding the KTM, how has it been holding up? Tell me how many miles you have on it now, and what problems you have had? Thanks for your honest review of the KTM.
Hey Michael, thanks for watching and hopefully the vids have been enjoyable. I bought the 1290 with 18k miles on it. Currently, it has 29k. The only problem I have had is a "Front brake switch" warning message that pops up on info screen. When it has happened, I just cleared the message using the menu buttons. It doesn't affect the operation and even when the message has occurred, the brake light (and brakes) work normally so I'm not sure what to make of it other than assuming it's a poor connection in the switch wiring. It's happened three times in 11k miles, although on the Utah trip last year it happened about a dozen times in one day (but didn't reoccur during the trip). Other than that, the bike has been flawless and fantastic. It's got a few of its own KTM idiosyncrasies, like having to remove the gas tank in order to get to the air filter. The bike has a couple other maintenance "hassles" but overall it has been very straight forward to work on (I do my own maintenance and enjoy doing it on the KTM). If you're interested in more details of this particular bike, you may want to check out the 1290 Super Adventure thread on ADV Rider. I read the entire length of it two winters ago when I was considering buying one. advrider.com/f/threads/1290-sa-owners-thread.1042722/
I sure I missed it but what time of year did you take these trips? Last two videos I’ve watched you are freezing. Want to plan a my ride in a bit of warmer conditions.
This was the week of Labor Day 2020. First 3 days of riding Nebraska/Colorado/Utah were 100F+. The next four days were 40F. Both the heat and the cold were very unusual and I believe they set records for that time of year. Great trip though 😁
It was out of warranty 😞 but my credit card company had a perk so I was able to upgrade to a new phone for just a few bucks 😁. Going to test a new phone mount with vibration dampener this year (before the new phone warranty expires!).
Wow! That's some beautiful country! Will definitely spend some time in Utah when the wife and I hit the road! Thanks for sharing!
I hope you're able to - have fun!

Great video. It was posted in February but when did you motor it? Leaves are still on the aspens and they would be long gone by February.
The trip was during the first week of September.
Nice! I really should get a more two up road worthy bike.
