Excellent, thanks Louie for publishing this. It brought back so many memories. I bet there were a lot of red faces when it failed to fully drop on the first occcasion.
First time viewing of video. Great. In a former life, my Company painted the crane in 1974/5 and we sustained heavy insurances claims for cars getting covered in paint. Paint drops were carried some distance by the wind, being so high up.
Shipping is still the main way of transporting goods around the world ,and people are back on the boats as a alternative to flying ...so why did they bump us out of highly skilled work force...put everyone on income support and let them rot I used to talk to loads of guys that would still get up and out in the morning first thing because it was in their blood, but all they did is sit about the murdy dams .Sitting on their hands ...
An act of criminal vandalism, equalled by the demolition of the railway viaduct on the Kilmacolm line. Anywhere else would have preserved these reminders of its heritage. Philistines!

Alasdair Liddell yes, but the potential insurance liabilities forces the removal.
@@geoffreylee5199 Yeah the two huge Manchester dock cranes went down years ago...but the smaller cranes near the main dock entrance were saved...
Remember that day well, actually, I remember BOTH days well 😀
