Approaching Junctions UK Made Easy - Pass your driving test series

  • How you approach a junction is fundamental to how well it goes. Personally I dislike the traditional Mirror, Signal, Position, Speed, Look routine which is normally taught to UK learner drivers so I created my own routine: Mirrors, Signal, Speed, Gear, Decide. Find out why this routine is important and how it will help you improve your decision making skills as well as your ability to approach junctions comfortably.
This video is created by an experienced driving instructor, please subscribe to get my latest videos as I upload them to help you pass the UK Driving Test.
Here is my driving school's website:

    • @ConquerDriving

You should give gas in all cars really. It's to do with the car's computer and how much help it gives you, if you don't give gas the computer has too. Best not rely on the computer when all cars are different and best learn the skill so you can drive all cars.

I can creep around very slowly with just the clutch but I have to be very careful or it will stall. My instructor could only tell me that I'm thinking too much without much concrete advice. This video really hit head, indeed I was too busy looking out for cars and trying to decide if it was safe or not, leading to wrong speed, wrong gears, over/under braking. I have a licence but I didn't drive after I passed the exam, life happened. So now I'm taking some live lessons, but I've found your channel and find your advice SO helpful to remember things and relearn. I moved to Switzerland recently and my test was done in Croatia, so I have to keep in mind that you ride 'on the other side of the road'. However, I'm noticing that what you're teaching and what they're testing is really in depth. I liked my Croatian instructors, because they explained things, but you've showed some things I always wondered how they look but didn't look it up (or fortog by the time I got to the computer), and having it all in one place, systematically, is pure awesomeness. Thank you for doing this and sharing with the world!

Did alright in the test, 7 minors, 3 of which for "Progress - Appropriate Speed" failed me for being too slow, hovering 20 or below in a couple side roads! Would've passed had I not let a car overtake me literally on the last road as I was about to turn back into the driving centre!
Despite the failure, I'm fairly confident in being able to pass now, hopefully knowing some of the test route since it's not my usual area will help next time. Thanks for the videos again, has proved to be helpful :)

Glad I can help, better sprain your ankle than your wrist as you're very talented at piano.

Watched this video 3 times last night for my test this morning. It worked like a charm. Had my test. Switched the Engine off and got out. My instructor came over. 10 minors. He went through them....then said well done you've passed! I had to ask him to repeat himself. I was certain I had failed. Thank you Richard for your videos. They've been a great help :)

Yes! I'm so happy that somebody else does MSSG.
As learners become more fluent I move onto Check-Tell-Do (which is actually just different words to MSM)

You are a very good and calm Instructor. I had my driving license after 2nd attempt here in Hungary. My driving instructir was a cocky nerve-wreck. He was only able to shout at you when you made mistakes.. I hade to take 45 hours to pass ( I have never driven car before). The guys and girls in UK are lucky to have Instructors like you..

You are so good at explaining things. Thank you so much for this video. Junctions are something I currently have an issue with and with your tips I feel as though I now have more confidence in tackling them. I will keep this in mind as I practice this week. Thanks a lot.

You only really want 1st if you go below 5mph (walking speed). You can use second above that.
