I did not know there's so much going on there in terms of techniques, style, vibrato, crescendo, scoop, etc. For me, it's just a beautiful and emotional song that is so pleasing to my ears and it touches my heart and reaches to my soul. But you surely have the musical ears that you can dissect each note to its molecular level. Amazing. But I'm glad to know that you liked every bit of it and the song as a whole. It is actually the first of Morissette's original work as a songwriter, which she wrote together with her then fiance now husband, Dave. She already had various renditions of this song, a music video, live with a band, on the Wish Bus, and now this latest one (sunset version). It has actually a deep meaning for Morissette, if you only know the background behind the writing of the song. This is a beautiful song she wrote for her dad who she's been estranged from for a while now. Didn't even attend her wedding last year. Her all-original all-English EP Signature is a compilation of outstanding pieces of songwriting which would be a really interesting watch if you decide to dissect each one.

HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY!! that song She produced with Her Hubby Dave!! was the only PILIPINO (OPM)song that entered the Internatiinal Billboard next big song and took the no. 7 at first then moved to #4. that song had a?strong attachment to MORISSETTE it reminds her what She went through for year without any form of communications to Her Family especially with Her Mother and Brother. The reason! its because MORISSETTE fell in love with Dave now Her husband. When Her Father learned that She had a relationship with Dave He got angry and and He told Morissette to end it but Morissette didn't follow Her Father and instead, She left their Family home and live with Her Manager's house and learned to live by her own. After She left their house Her father prohibited Her to enter again in their house and warned Her Mother and Brother not to talk to MORISSETTE. That's the time when Morissette begun to compose a song where She could convey Her message to Her Father, Mother and Sibling. This and Will You Stay are my two favorite songs off her Signature EP and probably my two favorite originals of hers, period. My favorite part is actually the part that got you choked up during the recording, when she repeats it again in a fuller mix, and everything from the last chorus to the end of the song...which I know seems like a copout mentioning that entire segment, but I just love how every moment of it builds. Btw, you were right about her producing vocal breaks/squeaks by momentarily accessing her whistle register. When she signed her first record contract as a young teen, her label discovered she already had whistle register (as opposed to them asking her to learn how to do it as part of her sound). Because it's the same mechanism, the vocal breaks are something that also feel very natural for her. I hope everything is going ok for you and that you are able to enjoy your birthday to the fullest!
