Just another tip on scope placement...if you have a quality upper...there is a little block on the left hand side with a vertical hashmark..start by centering your mount on that hash mark..most dont know what that hash mark is for .
Just want to point out that horizontal foregrips and side-canted ones do exist, however these are intended for MGs with big boxes, like a PKM. Hence why Zentico made their canted foregrip, mainly the PKM. If I'm not mistaking, the Ultimax also has or had one for it. So did that HK G3 LMG variant I've already seen something similar, in Africa, out of wood on an RPK
He’s not wrong though. Canted and horizontal fore grips do exist but almost exclusively on LMGs with bulkier belt boxes underneath that would make a vertical fore grip impractical. It’s the same idea as using the bipod as a grip to help control recoil and muzzle climb. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a XM177 type carbine in Vietnam that was modded with the hand guards rotated 90 degrees with a horizontal fore grip

@@mikewhitman745 The point of the mount is that you keep all the mounting surfaces on the upper receiver rather than the handguard. This is a dated issue because in the past we used to use split handguards which wobbled and torqued because they were not free floated. As a result your mount either would not fit on the handguard or potentially have POA shifts when you put tension on the handguard (such as sling supported position which was common). These days with extruded aluminum handguards that are freefloated, it isn't an issue, it is actually fine to mount it either direction If you were more comfortable with the scope mount in the wrong direction, likely you are not putting your head placement properly forward on the gun. Rule of thumb is your nose should almost touch the charging handle. Lots of people have stocks way too long, and that puts more leverage up front which is why many people can't hold up guns unless they are super lightweight. Bringing the gun closer in keeps the weight back to the rear.
You missed a great feature of the ADM qr mounts. You do not need a tool to adjust how tight it fits. You only need to open the lever and push it in towards the opposite side and that will expose the hexagonal nut; which you can just simply turn with your fingers to adjust.
I remember my dad's Smith and Wesson Model 29's cylinder was difficult to pull out to load/unload, and I took a look at it and fixed it in like a minute. Good feeling!
The Ryan Cleckner episodes are absolutely amazing. Just so much good educational content on WPSTV. If for no other reason than the knowledge transfer, it's easily worth the price of admission. Just do it and be a better shooter for it.

While the horizontal foregrip is pretty bad the first thing I would’ve said was that it’s a Radical lol I gotta admit on my 10.3” setup for NV I’ve got my front buis is on backwards to make room for my laser/illuminator device. The front sight moves up and down so long as it’s zero’d you’ll be good. Everything else is solid advice that I see as usual. Thank you WPS for keeping on with freedom, America, fun, motivational and informative videos for us 👍
One thing to also toss out in regards to sticks and scope mounts. I have a big blocky Alley Oop brain bucket and those wide body stocks are a no go for a real cheek weld. And when I changed stocks from a Magpul CTR to a SL on my DMR rifle I had to get a set of lower rings again to get my cheek weld back to normal.
Thanks been shooting a long time and still made a mistake you men address and that was connection sling on other side of stock for ever just attach sling to side against my body , thanks , always can learn and basics are key thanks again
Unfortunately, it does not. They are diametrically -and metrically- opposed as the Segal upper is SAE, with a Cosmolene mount and the lower is metric, SO MUCH SMALLER, and with a frog rear attachment croissant.
Great video. I think you guys could make a full video on exactly how, where, & why to mount slings. You could cover how different types of slings are mounted. The note about where to install the quick release on the butt is great & new to me. I have also seen people place the front quick release in different locations. Why would I run it closer vs. further away from me? Just a thought.
I was just a straight leg Grunt. And I've never seen or heard attaching the sling to the other side of the butt stock. I will try it out. There's always something to learn!
"The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the Men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these Men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone." - Author Unknown
The weird "horizonatal grip" you may have seen is the Ryker grip developed by an ex-military man who had bad carpal tunnel and pain after prolonged gripping. I run it on my gun because im always borderlining on bad tendonitis, has really helped.
I will say for length of pull I'm 6'3" and the way you just described it I can only achieve with the original M-16 style stocks yet I've always done better shooting with fully collapsed especially with my Plate carrier etc. on. I've done what I can to get more used to longer settings but now I'm honestly about to get the maxim defense stock to shorten my overall length even more lol. Thanks for what you guys do and love seeing the Battle Gnome more.
Right! I've always kept my sling attached to the left side of my stock. switched it after watching and it feels so much better. never even thought of it...
I do run my forward sling point on the bottom, so as to counter act the rear of the sling when it comes over the top of the stock from the far side, so mag isn’t kicking outward. I don’t do vfg but if one did I am not sure a horizontal is different other than making the gun a mile wide. Some of the early smg had the side mags that were use as a grip, and died because of the mile wide thing I believe alone.
I have a friend that came to me for advice on buying his 1st AR. He brought an ad with a gun like the one this video. He asked what I thought and I told him looked like it was built out of the JC Whitney catalog. It had every dorky doodad you could imagine, curly cords, all of it. I told go get a quality carbine with a good optic. He asked what I’d buy; Armalite with an Acog, ammo, training. He’s happy with it. Funny video John👍
Thank you👍. Sure there’s such a thing as a horizontal fore-grip! You just showed one. I saw it on the rifle you were holding. Looks like a horizontal fore-grip to me. … 😉
Cool video. I remember coming from my country of origin, being used to AKMs... And buying my first, cheap little PSA AR.... I'm still perfecting my molotov cocktail side-rail mount. Every time the barrel gets hot, it lights off the rag. My sling does keep the flames away from my body so I'm good there. 😁
My favorite AR malfunction was when a guy had a magnifier set up to fold to the right. It blocked the ejection port, a spent case bounced back into the chamber and caused quite the stoppage.
glad you said it, i have friends who buy everything they see and load up guns but never master the basics. dont over accessorize be basic and show off with accuracy and speed.
In light of the hero Eli Dickens I hope to see a video of John's thoughts on a post defensive shooting self health. We train to defend. If called on how do we get through the aftermath.
He's definitely going to go thru some reflection. Taking a life is not a norm. Hopefully he will focus on the ones he saved. Chances though there will be issues with family of the murderer that might drag him to court, remains to be seen.
Tried the 2 finger thing for buttstock length. I think I like it. I had mine all the way to bicep. I'll have to try it at the range... if I ever win the lottery and can afford to go there. On the charging handle, I ain't giving up my raptor. And yes, I live in a cold climate half the year. Fortunately, it only sticks out about half as far as that monster charging handle you're showing..
Do a rifle slung over the shoulder barrel up versus drawing a pistol. If you know what you are doing you can get the rifle into action faster than most people can draw.
Re: horizontal foregrip. I do believe a version of the hk23 did in fact make use of a horizontal grip. However it is a belt fed variant of the hk91/G3 line of rifles. A rifle that gas a notoriously long l.o.p even before you add the bulk of the belt system and cloth ammo bag. I also think it looks absolutely spifftacticool. Which is a new word I invented just now to describe my appreciation of it. Sadly though I can not justify running a similar setup on the g3 I use for hog hunting.
Currently guilty of the sling sin. I use an A2 front sight block and the sling swivel on it. Kick the swivel to the left side, barn door only stays cracked so far.
I am a totally liberal women. But find you so interesting. I love watching your gun instructions. I love my gun but not everyone should have one. If everyone had a person like you to teach them then it would be great. My hubby died laughing when you said sights were backwards and trash placement.(Army Vet) While you call me woke I call you a hero and a treasure. I learn so much from you.
The sideways grip placement reminds me of that weird side mounted vertical grips from Ryker USA, BSC Rapidtac rotating grip, Mid Evil Industries 360 degree grip, and that weird “CAA Agada” rifle that puts the shooter in a “boxing stance” they all just looks so goofy. I guess there’s a sucker born every minute to buy something like that haha!
Hilarious presentation! 😂🤣 But yes, y'all nailed one of my biggest peeves of AR-dom. I've seen some setups that involved lights, bipods, grips, a scope big enough to look through with both eyes... and a pinned 14.5" barrel. I mean, this thing weighed about as much as a 240B when the dude was done! I'm a fan of keeping things simple. Sights, a light, and a grip if you so desire. The less you have on your rifle, the less you have on you - or the more ammo you can carry, whichever you prefer. A fixed stock is also useful if you have one with the right length of pull. It's quieter, more solid, and with a mil-spec buffer tube it's much more tolerant of buttstroking heads and stuff like that. As always, excellent video with generous humor sprinkled on top!
I'm pretty sure the shirt I got from you fory wife is her favorite, she's always wearing it... now that I think about it she wears it more than my old shirts I gave her, and I'm a little jealous! Either way, you guys are awesome, keep up the great work!!

Lots of people have stocks way too long, and that puts more leverage up front which is why many people can't hold up guns unless they are super lightweight. Bringing the gun closer in keeps the weight back to the rear.
I'm a Range Coordinator for the NC Wildlife Commission and this video is great because it's so true. I've seen guns with EVERY one of these issues.
I just love when he took the mag out your gun because I can see that happening at an indoor range
Love the wpsn network was watching pistol 3 this morning..keep up the good work..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You missed a great feature of the ADM qr mounts.
Somebody's going to be as accurate as a stormtrooper with that thing 😅😅👍👍
So glad to see that you are still using the Lantac rifle.,I bought one because of your take on it a while back.,really loving it.,it gives me that Mr.Poet Society feel whenever I squeeze that trigger on the gun range !😅😅
Thank you WPS for keeping on with freedom, America, fun, motivational and informative videos for us 👍
Our prayers have been heard! John looks human again...
Thanks guys for helping me dedorkafy my kit, you saved me from being ridiculed.
Great info. Especially about the sling setup and length of pull for the buttstock.
I came for the jokes, but actually learned my sling was attached on the wrong side of the stock.
Checked my rifle to see if the sling is on the wrong side... realized I don't have a sling. Whew!
@@GUNNER67akaKelt dodged that bullet huh
Yup! Same.
Same

Where can I get one of those Seagal uppers?
I wonder if they would fit my Van Damme lower.
Unfortunately, it does not. They are diametrically -and metrically- opposed as the Segal upper is SAE, with a Cosmolene mount and the lower is metric, SO MUCH SMALLER, and with a frog rear attachment croissant.
For everything badass, check out the Norris website. You'll find all you need there
Great video.
Helpful content with excellent humor. Thanks!

@@errolwilcox747 Amen brother.
I've always tried to mount my lights as forward as possible, and set up my optics where they co-witness my sights.
The weird "horizonatal grip" you may have seen is the Ryker grip developed by an ex-military man who had bad carpal tunnel and pain after prolonged gripping.
I run it on my gun because im always borderlining on bad tendonitis, has really helped.
Well John did say he encountered someone who ran it that way because of a medical issue.
Thanks for what you guys do and love seeing the Battle Gnome more.
practicality is the key!
Thanks for the knowledge on the sling set up, great content!
Finally!! Have content that is WarPoet valuable, priceless
Thank you👍. Sure there’s such a thing as a horizontal fore-grip! You just showed one. I saw it on the rifle you were holding. Looks like a horizontal fore-grip to me. … 😉
Please keep the information and conversation going forward
9:53 "Now we have to fix our gun, and find Evan"
Haha! Sinister but friendly.
Cool video. I remember coming from my country of origin, being used to AKMs... And buying my first, cheap little PSA AR....
Went to the range and one of the guys in there pointed out to me how I had slapped my rear MBUS backwards.
I felt super stupid but he was super Cool about it, and I never forgot since. 😂
amazing mix of cool humor and very educative information. awesome!
Great information with fantastic presentation!
Always enjoy your videos😃👍👍

thank you John for the knowledge. God Bless
This was pretty funny and still informative. Love to see it done on a handgun setup too!
Love your work guys, respect
Really, by just watching (and paying close attention ) to a few of the good shooter videos, any gun guy should be able to set up a rifle pretty close to useable. I'm sure the two of you could tweak most any set up a little bit. Fun and educational video. Well done!
My wps purchase is the best thing I've done since purchasing my first firearm. Thanks John
Since I have been subscribed and watching WPSN my anxiety and stress levels have almost disappeared - my dr. Was so impressed with the results of my significantly reduced BP and anxiety levels that he prescribed me another 5 million years of subscription!
It has been an amazing journey and I now feel so much better and have longevity of life to look forward to!
I cannot recommend this enough !!
Watch WPSN ! It will change your life for the better - I am living proof !!!!
John Lovell: "Friends don't let friends have dorky rifle setups."
I like that advice, thanks.
Way to go for filming on a steep incline to help Paul have a little more presence. LOL Battle Gnome Rocks!.
This is a good Warrior Poet Society PSA.
glad you said it, i have friends who buy everything they see and load up guns but never master the basics. dont over accessorize be basic and show off with accuracy and speed.
Amen!! Jon
"Train with Paul or Josh..." Yeah but John, I wanna train with you 😭😭😭
Good, entertaining video. John plugged WPSN and the Long Range Shooting series in particular is good.
I didn’t know about the placement of the rear sling, learned something new today.
Good points!!!! Thanks for the info!!!
What? When did a horizontal grip become 'uncool'??? Nobody was complaining about the Sten Submachine gun back in the day!!!
Oh there were people who made complaints about sten guns. Especially in combat. But I'm told they were all short lived.
@@telelkhajiit7910 the magazines from what I've been told
In light of the hero Eli Dickens I hope to see a video of John's thoughts on a post defensive shooting self health. We train to defend. If called on how do we get through the aftermath.
He's definitely going to go thru some reflection. Taking a life is not a norm. Hopefully he will focus on the ones he saved. Chances though there will be issues with family of the murderer that might drag him to court, remains to be seen.
@@warrenharrison9490 as well as the unwanted attention from media both good and bad on a polarized topic.

Warrior Poet On..!!!!
Read the title before looking at the thumbnail picture and died laughing. That caught me off guard
You guys have invented the best sling ever !!! Thanks
Jedi buckle?
Tried the 2 finger thing for buttstock length. I think I like it. I had mine all the way to bicep. I'll have to try it at the range... if I ever win the lottery and can afford to go there.
On the charging handle, I ain't giving up my raptor. And yes, I live in a cold climate half the year. Fortunately, it only sticks out about half as far as that monster charging handle you're showing..
Do a rifle slung over the shoulder barrel up versus drawing a pistol. If you know what you are doing you can get the rifle into action faster than most people can draw.
My 5.56 guns are FDE furniture. My 300 blackout have grey furniture. I can tell what I'm grabbing by the color.
I did gray for 5.56, black for 308. and planning to do fde/camo for 300blk.
you guys are always awesome - love the channel !!!
Hilarious how battle gnome wasn’t strong enough to get the buttstock released. And then yall had to cut to get it loose 🤣
"Friends don't let Friends have dorky rifle sets ups" I almost spit! Nice presentation guys. Thank you
Hilarious presentation! 😂🤣
But yes, y'all nailed one of my biggest peeves of AR-dom.
When he whipped the disconnected sling around his back... HFS.
You guys rock. Need more TN classes.
Seagal upper !!
I can’t breathe !! Stop it ! 🤣😂
