That might have happened; they played each other in Montreal four times on Saturday that season: Nov. 15 and Dec. 13, 1941; Jan. 10 and Feb. 28, 1942. The Toronto Maple Leafs were also playing at home on those nights, and I'm not sure which games were broadcast on HNIC, which was on radio then. The first of those games ended with the Americans winning 4-2 in overtime; not only did they have regular season overtime then, but they played the full 10 minutes.

@orbyfan I'm surprised no expansion teams never use the name Americans? Someone or the NHL own the rights.

@@marksousa8595The Rochester Americans (called the Amerks) of the AHL own the name and rights. They are affiliated with the Buffalo Sabres. Someone would have to pay a huge indemnity to purchase the naming rights, logo and colors

Well the New York Islanders experiment in Brooklyn was very short lived. Because the Brooklyn Arena known as the Barclays Center was only really a basketball arena and not designed for hockey. So when the NY Islanders played their home games at the Barclays Center the sight lines for hockey were not good at all. The Islander fans also complained that since the sight lines were awful they were not happy with the idea of ice hockey in a basketball arena. So what happened was in 2021, 4 years after this film was released the NY Islanders ended back in Nassau County, Long Island in their new arena the UBS Arena which was built right next to the Belmont Park Racetrack in Elmont,N.Y. And no I'm not an New York Islanders fan, I'm a New Jersey Devils fan.
