    I have been playing Since beta but i just came back from a 1-2year break.
    And i decided to start grinding this ship and the new tilman ships.
    I am using a normal 10 point captain and its a servival build.
    Also i state during the battle that im glad i equipped all my flags for extra XP and its the 1st battle of the day.
    Only to realize i equipped them on the colorado but forgot to equip them on this ship! XD
    I just unlocked the Izmail!
    Fun to be had by all!

      You will enjoy all of the USSR BB line ships for sure. My personal favorite was the Sov. Soyuz, it felt like a BETTER NC in all aspects. Kremlin on the other hand, was a disappointment compared to the other USSR BBs due to the fact it wasn't so ''op'' for it's tier. Sure, you can still face t10s in a t8 BB but it's not that common today. USSR heavy cruisers and ''op'' BBs just sh*t bricks when a Thunderer starts to focus them with HE... I mean high velocity plasma shells! And I can't stress enough how badly the soviets suffer from IFHE cruiser spamm in t10. But when the stars align, the weather is clear and your ship crew have a full stock of vodka, it's a blast to play. The close range dispersion buff allows you to nuke DDs with AP 95% of the time and the turret rotation is just pure ''magic''.

      Isnt the "casemate" just the tiny bit of armor in the superstructure designed to protect the captain and therefore it hardly surrounds the citadel?

    • @AlteryxGaming
      @AlteryxGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@CesarinPillinGaming the casemate is the part of the ship on larger warships thst stores the secondary battery magazines/barbettes. It’s usually located on the deck above the citadel. In dreadnought battleships and older the casemate was also where the secondary guns themselves were located.
      In WoWs the casemate takes more damage than the bow/stern and superstructure bit not nearly as much as the citadel.
      As for the area where the captain commands the ship, you’re likely thinking of the conning tower, which yes is part of the superstructure

      @Tobias Time I thought the casemate had some issue with damage compared to other parts if the ship? Maybe it heals a smaller portion than the rest then? Citadels are 1/10 for healing, and the bow/stern is 1/2

      Learn the maps, and learn what sort of island you can shoot over, and you will do just fine in Cruisers. They are great fun, but don't expect them to ever be able to tank much damage outside of the high tier Russians(They have rather large nice ice breaker bows). Also if you go down a light cruiser line, well the only proper light cruiser line(American, the Russians cheat having 180mm guns). Expect T7 to kind of suck, your guns won't have enough pen to damage the deck/bow/stern of T8 battleships even with Inertia Fuse High Explosive, they will literally be 1mm short, at 31mm, grab IFHE anyway though on the American Light Cruisers, because at T8 now you will have I think it's 37mm of pen, and be able to start wrecking T8+ battleships.

Grabbed the Omaha and thought all would be well in the world and I was suddenly thrust into these matches with significantly bigger ships. Became so frustrated I basically abandon my Cruiser tree and started focusing on my DD and BB trees. The light cruiser (CL) is a glass hull filled with gasoline and you should play it that way.
    You can take out other cruisers head-to-head, but I recommend at the beginning of the battle to position to assist your DD against the enemy DD while protecting them from enemy CL. The objective to help your DD survive long enough to wipe out their DDs and possibly a CL to two. Then get back behind your BBs and assist them against enemy BBs.
    Learn to shoot and hit things at max range. You can pop a BB two or three times with HE because of your firing rate advantage, then turn hard to avoid the return file and repeat. Broadside to shoot then turn to narrow your profile and pray. Burning a BB to the waterline is the only way to beat them one-on-one and a good fire or two helps your BB take them down. Spread it around and start as many fires on as many BBs as possible. You may even get a kill or two that way. I never shoot AP unless I have a fat CL sitting broadside asking for it, but HE will do almost as much damage and change time between AP and HE means I may miss one salvo. It's usually not worth it. Just spam HE and keep moving. If you stick around to finish a kill, be aware of what's coming. Target focus is the number one way to get it.
    The main objective as a cruiser driver is to cause damage to create the tipping point where your DD or BB gets the kill and your team wins.
    Remember that if you over-extend you're not fast enough to get out of trouble and you're not tanky enough to stand and fight. Torps are a lifesaver sometimes, but BBs have torpedo armor. Two to three hits are just going to piss them off, but damage is damage even in death. Go down swinging.

    You just described exactly my feelings Jingles. I started watching your videos when i was starting World of Warships. Got to Tier 5, got my Cruiser, and the fun began. At least for the other players. Because as an unexperienced player going into the first unprotected battles with a floating citadell is actually not that fun. Haven´t played WoW in a while and will most likely not come back, as it is just work to get to the next tier..

    While it may not do much for surviveability I had a lot of fun the other day charging into cap bravo in a destroyer, along with at least 3 other destroyers. Smoke everywhere, torpedoes everywhere, point blank shots as enemy's appeared out of nowhere. By the time the smoke cleared there were 7 dead in cap bravo and none of the battleships even got a shot over the islands around bravo. It was glorious madness. The rest of the battle was nothing special.

    I just started this game, and I’m grinding the American cruiser line right now. It’s so hard as a new payer to take your time and not try to rush in like Rambo. My first Pensacola game I saw it’s artillery numbers and thought “Hell yes, this thing is going to be awesome!” I lasted roughly 2 minutes. The paper armor was hard to get used to. But I’m getting there slowly, and this very quickly became my favorite game.

    It also shows certain balancing issues with WoWs...
    For a type of ship that is supposed to be this middle ground, cruisers are actually by far the most vulnerable - large enough to be easy to hit, outspotted by DDs, not fast and agile enough to effectively dodge in a long run, soft enough to be easily citadelled. And they have to keep shooting, because they rely on damage over time instead of alpha.
    For all intents and purposes - destroyers are more survivable, despite tiny health pool.

  • @casperreininga3253
    @casperreininga3253 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Emile is my favourite tier V cruiser behind the Furutaka. That's because its one of the most trolly ships in the game. To summarize:
    1: Extremely speedy boi, you WILL outrun same tier destroyers with your 40 knot top speed.
    2: Extremely good manoeuvarability, you can dodge torpedoes very well
    3: Hydro, combined with the above, the Emile is excellent at fighting DD's
    4: Good main guns, fast turn rate, floaty but not American shells with fine HE, good range, only downside is the lackluster reload at 13-ish seconds
    5: And here's the funniest, the Emile has so little armour (like the Friant and Dugauy) that you can rely on another mechanic besides overmatch: Overpen. The Emile is so squishy its too squishy for any tier V BB or higher (minus the Brits and their short fuze) to get citadels. Even the citadel has so little armour that it'll not arm most BB AP.
    This means that the Emile is about the best cruiser at tier V for surviving against battleships. When at range the excellent mobility allows you to dodge most incoming shells (only Soviet and Italian railguns are really too fast to counter) while at point blank, given you show broadside, battleships just cannot citadel you (or even get full pens). All the while you can happily blast their superstructure with HE. Also, like any other tier V cruiser, Emile has torps (2X3 533) for those brown-pants point blank encounters.
    Or to put it more simply: The Emile Bertin and its tier III and IV French brothers find themselves in the weird situation where showing broadside to a battleship at close range is life-saving, HE is more likely to citadel them then AP and they are some of the only ships in the game destroyers should be firing AP at for they can citadel them with ease. That's how little armour the early French cruisers have.

    I'm one of those newer players. A month ago I was working through the Emerald. I think it took 8 games (iirc) with 67%, to get through.
    I got into the Leander and didn't like it, despite it driving better. Suffered through that and was looking forward to the Fiji, which many people say are great. It's terrible and suffered through that (with the help of xp flags) where I finally found a decent, albeit still fat and squishy, cruiser in the tier 8 Edinburgh.
    I took my fresh ship immediately into ranked where I played it exclusively until I unlocked the Neptune.
    People say that the Edinburgh is just an up tiered Fiji, but it's so much better than Fiji (and better than Neptune) because it gains access to the concealment mod which really helps increase survivability and stealth radar which really makes inexperienced DDs piss themselves.
    I also have a tier 7 Southern Dragon (Myoko clone) that I must've won 3 years ago when I first dabbled with the game for a brief bit. That sumbich has a whopping 27% WR and dies faster than my RN CLs. I keep coming back to it as I gain game experience to see if I've improved and can make it do something. Nope, not yet.
    My RN CL is the only line I have past tier 7,but I'd say I'm a DD main because whenever I don't play one, I need to be playing one (I get the DDs that pop smoke and sit in it spotting nothing, until they eat a torp, get radar'd, or the smoke expires and they're forced to scout again).
    In ranked, the stealthy Edinburgh would often do double duty as a "DD" in the mid or late game of ranked when the actual DD were in spectator mode.
    Cruisers don't seem much fun in the mid tiers. But, I'll be leveling a Budyonny in this ranked season...

    Hot opinion here: I enjoyed the Omaha. she is slime and deceptively fast. her gun layout allows you to always keep a decent number on target regardless of maneuvering. just keep the enemy at arms length and shift that rudder. T5 BBs have bad dispersion, so use that against them. remember: If they connect, your dead. so dont let them connect any shells.

  • @thomaskurz5617
    @thomaskurz5617 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reputation of the Furutaka comes from the time when it was the only cruiser with heavy guns at tier 5 and apart from the japanese line there were also no heavy gun cruisers until tier VII. So most of the time you were the cruiser with the heaviest guns in a battle, that paired with long range torpedoes made it a very potent enemy if you could resist giving big targets to battleships.
    It is still a good ship, but the metagame has changes with all the fast firing HE spammers, in a one vs one fight they can easily out dpm you if RNG is not on your side and you get no citadels.

  • @JohnH0130
    @JohnH0130 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everything Jingles has said about t5 cruisers, and in particular the Omaha, is perfectly true. Get squared up in the crosshairs of any heavy ship whose captain knows how to shoot, and you can very quickly find yourself a spectator.
    That said.....
    I nevertheless find the Omaha to be a fun and successful ship to take out in t5, and I have had many successful outings in higher tier contests. Very nice artillery with very tight dispersion and a fairly high rate of setting fires. With the gun layout of a broadside cruiser, she can't fire all her guns on either broadside like a superfiring ship can, but she can turn quickly and still get 8 guns on the broadside almost right away.
    Decent AA, maneuverable and fast. Lots of [short range] torps for close-in threats. For sure BBs can kill me, but I've killed lots of them too.
