The elliptical shape of the dash was a copy of the distinctive shape of the wings of WWII British Spitfire fighter plane, which was made in the same factory that the XK8 was made in.
Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment. Yes, the dash is one of my favourite design features on the car. And a real classy nod to history by Jaguar. Thanks again!
I have heard to fix the common dash rattle: remove the mid-tweeters and tighten the one big screw that secures the dash to the firewall, replace mid-tweeter.
Thanks for watching the video and for your comment. Yes, I have to agree, if you took all the badges off.....it could still only be a Jaguar. A lovely design. Thanks again, it's very much appreciated 👍🏻
They are great cars. I had a 4.2 one for 9 years and regularly got 33mpg but of course the 4.2 has a 6 speed gearbox which makes all the difference. It never did rattle in all that time. I now have the 4.2 XK which is more of a drivers car and I get 34mpg with that on a run
I own and drive a 1995 XJS Convertable and watching you drive this my XJS beats this hands down mine drives smooth and responsive I am not saying the XK8 is bad or anything just you did not seem to be enjoying driving it also I thought with the J-gate shifter you could do the gear changes yourself or is that not the case both cars are GT's not really sports cars the XJS was not a replacement for the E Type I really love my XJS and all Jags just make the driver and owners happy well that's my take on them I wish youand all the folk at Studio Cars a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year best wishes Andy Allen
Thanks so much for watching Andy, and for taking the time to comment and feedback, it's much appreciated. The funny thing about these cars or XJS' or XJs' or XKs' or E-Types etc etc, if I drive it on a different day I could have a completely different experience and conclusion. I guess that's the personality of older cars. Thanks so much again and I hope you'll keep enjoying the content. All the best, Tony StudioCarsOfPreston
Use the J gate - Go to the other side of the box it's fun! 😂

These cars really look like a Jaguar should and are pretty quick too.The day will come when they will worth good money in my book.

The biggest issue I have had with XK8 and XJR ownership is dreadful Jaguar specialists who charge thousands and offer a genuinely poor service
I think that what you said about this car that they do rust is unacceptable. Why didn't Jaguar galvanize these expensive cars?
Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. Yes, it's a shame but like so many great cars, rust is the old enemy! Thanks again! 👍🏻
@@studiocarsofpreston Yes, such a shame. To know that there are cheaper cars out there that have no rust issue whatsoever
