Both amazing (Cars not presenters) I love the XKR but...after many XJ's I would have to steal Richards ride. Seriously guys, awesome project to follow - well done!
The XKR was so exotic looking back in its day, a really cool car. And yours is infinitely better with that manual (although I'm not sold on the grille). But the XJR has always been a tad more lustworthy for me. That classy, slab sided body is timeless. I'd take the XJR. Just my $0.02
I'm glad to see the vote was closely split; both cars have their merits, and both can proudly be claimed as proper Jaguars. I think that, breaking it up over the episodes (as was done) was a great move.
I try to share my XKR enthusiasm with my little daughter - I go like and now the cat juuuuuumps with pedal to, well, nearly the metall - she likes it and I hope she will never glue herself to the streets😂
@@oliver.gilbert you are indeed correct. but as least we got to hear the better of the two cars in the wild. and got to watch dicky change a tyre. lol.
Not a Jag story, but my dad had an Aston Martin DB2 that he had inherited from his father. I will never forget him taking me out for a drive in it as a kid. The stupendous noise of the engine, the smell of petrol and just the overall sense of speed and excitement (and my mum being furious because it didn’t have proper seatbelts 😅). It’s one of my favourite childhood memories
Drivetribe is without a doubt one of the most positive spaces on TH-cam, you are fast becoming the spiritual successor of what we have been enjoying on television for many years.
Drivetribe is certainly parkinson's-positive judging by their camera work. I can't believe they have that collection of beautiful, varied Jags in front of them from all around the country and then they make those flash-edits so no-one can actually see the cars at all!
That was a great series, I would like to see more of this in future. Episode after episode is awesome, it really hipes you up for the finale. Great work guys.
Is been great to watch your projects. Don't change the format, 10/15 minutes per video is just enough. I vote for the XKR, the car is just gorgeous although i would haven't changed the gearbox 👌
Oh my! Jag is the greatest specimen on earth. Each and every model is valued for its unique appearance. For driving characteristics that give so much joy. No matter if E-Type old or new I love everyone
Look at anything TG/GT where one episode is “here’s a car review” and another is “this is my journey with a car I have grown to love”. This is why we are petrolheads. Great work, love the series format. Banging soundtrack on this ep too.
1. I have to say I prefer the XJR....it's an XJ and one of the best looking Jaaags ever, the XKR is greatvand I love what you've done with it...buuut....Hammond's is an XJ...so you kinda brought a knife to a gun fight for me I'm afraid. 2. I love the continuity of them in close succession, so more like that please! Loved the road trip thing btw. 3. You now have to go up against AutoAlex's XJ Supe...looking forward to that. I imagine you will get better MPG than him if he (Taylor 😆) hasn't fixed that awful MPG issue.
i liked having weekly episodes of stuff. worst thing car youtubers do is show you a car they buy, tell you what they plan to do, but then you never see it again for a year because they have been waiting to get stuff done. much prefer not knowing about a car untill there is stuff hapening with it.
As the owner of a 2018 XJ-L 5.0SC, 2020 F-Type R, 2012 XKR, 2014 XKR-S...I'd have to go with the XKR because it's a manual, and with that drop it just looks ready to attack.
Was such a great series of episodes to watch, both cars looked amazing at the end. I'm sorry Mike but Richards would be the one I took home, a little less sporty and a bit more luxury for me. Please make more of them because its been one of my fave youtubes to watch recently.
XJR every day of the week, sure, the manual is probably prefered, but I just love the look of the XJR so much, the XKR dont do it for me really! NOT because Hammond has been on TV, swear! Mike said it him self, everyone loves a mean looking saloon! Its difficult to beat! :P
Great format, loved the series and would watch this again with other project cars. When done right it's not all about the brand but more about the journey with those projects that makes it fun to watch. I love the craftmanship of the companies who worked with y'all on these. Would like to see some driving action also, we had the XJR with the Hellcat beast but not an all-Jag roadtrip.
I'm not a fan of Jags outside of the F Type, E Type, and XJ220. But it always tickles my heart to see a bunch of like minded enthusiasts come together to celebrate their shared passion.
Great format. Please do again. Everyone loves restos. Got to say that that XKR gave me the fizz. Top marks for crediting the technical minds behind the projects as well. It's important. Closing credits were all sorts of wonderful.
I think the fact that the XKR is a lefty went against it. It is certainly the looker out of the two….hats off to you both for putting on a beautiful display. And from a fellow Scottish person, I loved the fact it was free!
I bumped into Richard last Friday in his local Morrisons, where I work as a driver, I was busting for a wiz between my routes and nearly took him out as I marched out of the warehouse wearing my high viz (sorry, my bad 😬) I really wanted to say hello, but I also didn't want to disturb him nor draw attention to him while he was just doing his shopping in relative peace. Basically, I have no clue what the etiquette is in such a situation, so I left him alone. Anyway, hello Richard and hello Drivetribe crew, I hope you're all well. I'm not sure what local car shows are on this year, but perhaps I'll see you all and perhaps even your Jaguars at one. 🙂 We missed you at Newent Cricket Club last year, we did see Oliver, although at the time, we had no idea that it was actually Oliver. 😅 All the best.
Would have loved to have seen a tour of the other cars in the lot. I saw a 76 XJ12C Coupe which would have been nice to see as I used to own one. Rare car.
Really enjoyed the format of the series, the way you filmed all the episodes for the topic and then uploaded them. It allows the audience to follow the progress and stay engaged.
As to the format , I do like what you've done with this lot. I find it easier to concentrate on one thing, rather than have odd episodes shoved in sporadically. Keep it up, is my vote!
It's really nice to see someone put the right time and money into an old Jaguar XJR. There's not many left and they are a car to experience. They are a Proper Jag! Ultimate British Baddie car. They're sinister.
The XJR just looks like a Jaaaag. I love this entire series. I've had BMWs. I've had Audis. I've had friends with Mercs and Volvos. But the Jaaaag is mysterious and elusive. More, please.
No such thing as “too much Jag”, from a former XF SportBrake and now F-Pace owner. Having just driven my sons Mustang (he’s away working, and asked me to look after it) I’m afraid I’m going for the comfort of the XJ - until my back recovers from the lowered sports suspension and U.K. potholed roads. Love the new format, more of the same please!
Loved the series. Wondered when the finale was coming. Hard to choose, the manual swap is brilliant, left hand drive would put me off. The XJ looks cool, if only it was a manual swap....
Well, since your pockets are full enough to buy pizzas, why not going full italian on the next series? I'd love to see a Project Alfa. Maybe a Brera (beautiful styling but poor performance) being upgraded versus a early 80's Spyder restomodded.
A car project, by its very nature, takes time. The worst thing you could do is have one 20 min episode where you start with a rusty heap, then 20 minutes later you are driving a gorgeous restomod. NO! You did these right - taking us along on a multi-episode journey showing what it takes to make these cars right. Oh, and by the way - for me it would be the XK-R every time. Gorgeous!
I loved this series! More of these would be appreciated. And as far as which I would take home XJR for sure. But if the question was, which one would I take for one drive only, I would pick XKR most likely
Wonderful series! The format was great for me- kind of catch up every couple of weeks. Been into these cars for at least 5 years and still not sure which one I'd take home. Very cool.
Sorry Mike, but I have to go with Richard.. yes I'm that old😂 However, I wanted to tell you I loved Project Jaaaag, and wouldn't mind taking your XKR either. One thing I didn't like was the separation of the Jaaag episodes by other stuff, it's like watching GoT and you have to watch LoTR in between before you are allowed another episode.
i think we live in the day and age where people are used to and prefer binge watching, so releasing ALL episodes at once, like Netflix, would be the best way to go about it.
Never driven a Jag, never been inside a Jag, never gonna own a Jag and still I loved this format and serie. ❤ Instead I will keep putting money into my old Saab 9-5 and bee happy when it's runs😊
Great format; Project Jaaaaag has been a pleasure to watch and follow. I agree with the result; ever since watching Edward Woodward drive an XJ6 in the Equaliser, the XJR has been a halo car for me!
I just bought a Jaaag, a 2016 F-Type 3.0 S manual transmission coupe. It's been 30 years since I've had one, a 1984 XJS. They've come a long way since then but I wouldn't turn down the 1968 XK-E coupe I once had. Except rust, E-Types rusted. Everything did back then.
Loved the episodic nature of this. Much more detail on the refurb process, got to know the mechanics, and, the finale voting. And also a fun project in general. Big thumbs up and hope to see more like this.
Wonderful series and engaging for me. Length of the episodes just enough, amazing production too. My choice will be Richard’s XJR. I’m a sucker for big sedan especially in black color. Keep it up and I would like to see how Richard is adapting with his RAM truck.
The episodes was a great way to do this. As a black XKR owner, I can’t decide which is best. I was looking at both when buying and bought the first car which was the best on the market at the time. I would love to know if you restored the XKR waist seals and grey metal around the windows. I can’t find anyone to do mine or source any. Thinking I need an XJR too now!
I like the sorta weekly 10-15 min episode VS a whole big 40 minute TH-cam movie. Makes tuning in to the channel more consistent, I suppose? That’s my 2 cents, anyway. Also both jaaaaaaags are phenomenal. I’d vote XJR if I was there, myself.
Had both of these cars in these colours too, a 1997 XJR in 2004 which met with a sticky end and became a short wheelbase version, and currently have the XKR, both are awesome cars and i love the big Jaguar saloons and would have another in a heartbeat, BUT, the looks alone of the XKR are unbeatable.
I would take Richard's XJR every time. It suits me in how it's more stately, a more upscale look of refinement. This is the Jag that you would pull up to the front of your country manor house in.
My vote is for Richard's XKR. It's just so menacing and I can't help thinking that adding number plates to Mike's Jaaaaag would ruin the look. I did enjoy the series very much and, for me, the format worked well.
Would love to hear the cars driven with their exhausts, and especially the XKR. Maybe even a little light performance testing to see what the manual and engine mod's do for it (and if it survives !!)

The Mandela effect is real. I could have sworn they called it this before!
Thanks for that. I now have tea to clean up off my floor 😆
Missed opportunity for sure

They did mention it in the first video of this series, Richard laughing at it, but i guess they didn't want to have it stick.
That father and son pair bonding over cars brought a tear to my eye.
