Thanks man, that was helpful. I've had my scooter for about 2 months now and the place I got it from wants to charge $40 for an oil change. You've saved me money and taught me something new. Can't ask for more than that!
Nice Job Ryan reading the manual about a break-in period. I believe the manual also suggests using conventional oil during the break-in so the internals "seat" properly. An old antifreeze jug cut/sliced horizontally works good too for old oil. ~750ml of oil for an oil change but always check as you go.
Yes! The oil in the moped is for shipping oil. Do Not use synthetic oil until the second oil change after 300 miles. Use 10w-40 castrol its like $5 at walmart.
Thanks for making the video but would recommend that you place a sheet of used cardboard under your bike to save damage to your drive way and to prevent runoffs to your drain system. God bless you and keep the videos coming.
There are two drain bolts for this engine. It's best to open the one on the other side afterwards located at the very bottom of the engine near the variator/crank pulley Even after rocking the scoot back and forth you will still find half a cup of old oil if you opened the engine
car oil works fine the only differnce is motorcycle oil is for a wet clutch and car oil is not but the scooter has a dry clutch so you can use any oil i like 10w40
HI, I take it you turn clockwise to undo that bolt? I used a gatorgrip socket (prolly not w good idea on these), but I was turning the usual lefty-loosey and stripped the bolt - do you turn clockwise to take it off?
i wasnt thinking about motorcycle oil when i did my oil change for the first time. i used 10w30 car oil and havent gone that far in yet it? should i change it immediately? or would it be fine until the 500 km mark? its currently at 263 km. thanks
what's better getting a used Yamaha zuma or a brand new Tao Tao I want to get my first moped but I'm tight on cash is there other Chinese scooter beside Tao Tao I'm looking to spend between 200-600
It may have been said before, but you shouldn't be using "motorcycle oil". I know it is a two-wheeled machine, but motorcycle oils have friction modifiers so a wet clutch will still grab and not slip. Your scooter doesn't have a clutch that shares oil with the engine. Therefore, you are better served by using standard, quality 4 stroke engine oils made for cars. You will have less wear on the engine this way.
Though I appreciate your Video, I did not see how the parts came out of the Oil plug so when you said just line them up perfectly and it will fit right in.... What all came out and how do they go back in? Filter in Spring? Spring then filter? And does the filter get replaced or how does it get clean?
I replaced the oil and I added a gallon of premium gasoline. I started the scooter, but then it dies after 10 seconds of running by itself. I feel like I'm missing something; help me please!
I've been seeing your videos for this scooter and I just recently got one, and I'm kind of curious... You say you're at 309 miles, but aren't those kilometers? I know the speedometer shows kilometers first with miles shown in smaller yellow numbers underneath, so wouldn't the mileage also be in kilometers? If I'm wrong, I'd love to know! Thanks.
Thanks for the video, It definitely was helpful. But I am confused about how much oil to put back in. Is it 3/4 of a tennis court or 3/4 of a basketball court.
Iv got a kymco agility city 125 and I'm pretty sure iv identified the right bokt but its totally blocked the the center stand its such a bad design I can't even get enough leverage to ubdo the bolt never mind get a container under it arg
And most 138 qmb engines actually take 750ml...1 court.... Or.. quart ;) is 949 ml.... I suggest royal purple full synthetic 5w-30...but I have 110cc (50mm piston) big bore... Good video though I seem a bit late.... Last comment was 2 years ago.. Well cheers
If you blow into your oil-fill hole it will come out about 1/2-1 DL more oil. also lean it to both sides and shake. You can replace up to 0.8 Litre of oil without problem.
New rider. I have a Wangye. It has 500 miles. I’m going to change the oil. I’ll look for two drain plugs. Thank you for the video. Mine only goes about 25mph. 30 on a down hill. Is that normal?
zach man Research your model online, scootdawg.com is a great place to find out answers to questions like that, I would use the viscosity recommended in the manual.
It's helpful to drink a little bit of the used motor oil. Not a lot, just about a shots worth. Supposedly, it provides essential minerals to the body. I have been doing this when I change my scooters oil; however, no health benefits yet - I'll keep you posted.
ENJ4321 I know that lol, what i was trying to say is, can i use the same 2 stroke oil that i use in my oil tank for the engine or is there a different type of oil i have to get..chers
Ryan Milbeck Correction to myself your talking about the editing in the video, sorry I actually did not do that, my friend did, I will make sure to pay more attention next time.
Sorry but did not show the dip stick oil level clearly so i still dont know how much oil to put in, I dont want to make a mistake as i have never changed the oil before.

I'm a new scooter driver. Still have a lot to learn. Thank you for your video.

Great tutorial. I'm at 900 miles on mine, and I do need to change my gear oil. I sure hope you get there soon. Thanks again!
I am actually over 2600 miles at this point, will have a new video coming soon, look forward to it.

Thanks for this video! It taught me a thing or two.

Also, thanks so much for making these videos, they are really helpful!
Ryan, Nice vid. I have changed my own oil and it was indeed easy. My scooter is a SYM PCH 50. Use it all the time. Love my scoot. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
+Ryan Milbeck Thanks a lot man am 18 and i successfully change my moped oil by myself.
@@ikhlaassyed2866 good for you.!! maybe your next challenge will be to change your own diaper.
hey Ryan jus bought a SUN l ...do you know the procedure to change tail and headlight ..thank you for your tyme ....BAM
Do not place the parts on the ground.because there is a chance that sand comes in your engine.
This was very helpful. Thanks

This was super helpful! Thank you!
Great tutorial
how much do weight and how fast did your moped go
i wasnt thinking about motorcycle oil when i did my oil change for the first time. i used 10w30 car oil and havent gone that far in yet it? should i change it immediately? or would it be fine until the 500 km mark? its currently at 263 km. thanks
do you know how to install a bore kit?
You can see the benefits of having a ground cover over the driveway if you are as messy as this guy. Other than making a mess, good video.
I got my Renegade 50 scooter yesterday. What did you do for pdi? Did you change the oil immediately?
So would like to, what do I do after can I turn it on
can i put 10-40 w metric motorcycle oil in my scooter will it hurt it??
Nice pieces
Do most scooter use 10W40 for oil?
what did you add to your dash above the speedometer?
does this thing has a separate gear oil? I think have the same scooter.
Thank you for making this- seriously.
what's better getting a used Yamaha zuma or a brand new Tao Tao I want to get my first moped but I'm tight on cash is there other Chinese scooter beside Tao Tao I'm looking to spend between 200-600

good video, thanks
Sorry everyone for going AWOL for so long, I will be back soon enough with way better quality, and I will also be releasing computer repair videos!
Ryan Milbeck how much oil do you put in it
What type of oil filter for a 200cc jascol
oh Dang! I thought you had more vids on changing the fluids
When you dip the oil, do you screw the dipstick back in? Or do you just place it in the hole?
Just place it, don't thread it in.
that helps it shoud be the same on my angel 50
Thanks ryan!

I need more details in order to assist you, make a video to show me what is going on thanks.
What's a court? A tennis court or a judicial court?
Never mind, it's working now
Is that Jaso MA oil ??
Why not using Jaso MB oil for scooter ??
How come you drained using the oil filter catch and not the oil drain plug ?
is it wrong to do it this way # new rider 😎
@@jimmyjohno2245 no not really. It's good to check the filter plug for shavings. If you want to be very paranoid you can open two.

What all came out and how do they go back in? Filter in Spring? Spring then filter? And does the filter get replaced or how does it get clean?
Bold, Spring, Filter goes in the spring, no it does not replaced, its just a screen to keep and metal shavings or dirt, stuck in it.

Does it take gear oil

Is it 3/4 of day court or 1/2 supreme court?
LOOOOOOOOOOL
There is a drainplug on the opposite side . Its not supposed to be drained from the filter. You wont get as much old oil out either..
Isn't that the filter bolt. The drain bolt is different.
Iv got a kymco agility city 125 and I'm pretty sure iv identified the right bokt but its totally blocked the the center stand its such a bad design I can't even get enough leverage to ubdo the bolt never mind get a container under it arg

I have a china schooter and it sys use 14w40
I bet most everyone misses the 1st step. Take it for a ride first, let the engine and oil warm up before draining!!!

What's the CC of the engine?
is there no oil filter on these scooters?
There is no oil filter on chinese mopeds, just a reusable oil screen.
Hey my friend can u do the tutorial for change the gear oil please
I will be doing this soon
run marvel mystery oil through it I do that all the time on my Yamaha before an oil change
YeSir.u.The.Man...CooL...

Alton Darden counter clockwise lefty loosy righty tighty
DiyNuke thank you

Glad to help
Ryan Milbeck what kinda transmissin oil u use for your scooter?
Court>? Quart? At least this video was about oil, and not sports.
Make SURE to use 3/4's of a "court" lolol.
Its spelled "quart"
spelling nazi's rejoice!
Unless I missed it... what about oil filter
Thanks!!

Carlos Vivaldi I like mine on the rocks.
+Austin Smith There are people who might actually do this. Please don't. Used motor oil contains poisons. .
hi i have a 50cc Chinese scooter can i change the engien to 125cc one and from where i buy it
Add a big bore kit, you can get it up to a 100cc.
thank you .....
What hapens if u dont change your oil
Your engine will start malfunctioning then eventually break down. Then you pretty much will have to buy a new scooter.
The oil is the life of your vehicle.. No matter if it's a scooter or a car. Oil changes are important.
@@gratefulforlifeandkindness not a new scooter, just a new engine.
"I recommend paper towels"
Hi, after draining the oil ,do i use the same oil that i put in my tank or is it engine oil
No. That is gas, don't put gas in your engine oil...or vice versa.
***** How nice of you to introduce your mother, what a lovely name
ENJ4321 I know that lol, what i was trying to say is, can i use the same 2 stroke oil that i use in my oil tank for the engine or is there a different type of oil i have to get..chers
+Fook Utube Oh, I don't think it matters much...as long as it is the same as what it says in your manual. Such as 10w 30 and so on.
ENJ4321 Thank you ENJ :)
Just bought my first scooter it’s a used Chinese moped but hell of a steal has 2800 miles
Is it ok if i use olive oil ? I have alot of olive oil in my village in hadalala. Muhamad.
your girl olive is geting oiled plenty of times loser.
its a "quart" of oil...not a "court" of oil btw Ryan, but otherwise great video, very informative
So youre an english teacher??
Javontae Eaddy lol right, I live in wisconsin, the way I pronounce quart is perfectly normal, you can leave my channel it one word I say bothers you.

I do not understand
how is his miss-spelling of quart (he spells it court) not the top comment?
Sorry for making a spelling error, was in a hurry I will fix it
How is your misspelling of misspelling not the top comment? Hahaha!
Quart...lmao
i think your odometer is in kilometers. so break in is 300 KM not miles, i think... still foggy on that.
im using automobile oil on these engines, because this engine has no clutch that runs in the engineoil. ( Lowfriction oil) :-)
I agree. There is no point spending extra money on motorcycle oil for a scooter.
What grade of auto oil do u use? Thx
I Use 10W/40 oil. Semisyntetic blend. (Mobil1 2000. You can use Regular, or syntetic oils. No problem!
apparently you or anyone else on here doesnt know how to change a headlight or tail light bulb ...thanks for the response ...........
they both are very simple...just break the outer glass cover, unloosen the bulb, then insert a new one...tape up the opening then..
same on the amount needed for a 250cc Znen?
Water omg some people say that omg
