Did you file or grind your knifes spine? I filed it square but used a grinder on the useless thing on the end of the tang.

I used a belt grinder with various grit belts.

I bought a Tops Brakimo a few years ago and at first I hated the handle. Over time I got used to it and actually like that it's thinner . The edge geometry and shape is amazing. I've had too many knives it's a sickness 😂 BUT it has taught me a ton . The tip and belly on the Brakimo is awesome and once ya use it for awhile you can craft like it's a much smaller knife.
I hardly changed anything just changed the secondary a bit and vexed the shoulders and wow its excellent.
I would say in my opinion its a real true "survival/bushcraft" knife . The scales are removable so it's much more mod friendly but I love their kydex sheath it's really good.
I do have plenty of carving blades or true scandi bushcraft knives BUT if crap hit the fan I'd grab my Brakimo and be totally fine with it.
Those Bob's are not tall enough and has the same design of the Garberg , too think in the belly.
You would probably like the Brakimo with some modifications of course.

I'm not familiar with the knife, I'll check it out.

@RobEvansWoodsman its a Joe Flowers design , for most people the scales are 20% to thin.
There is also the Dragon fly that has a thinner blade but has basically the same excellent grind with a better grip . ..It now comes with Tops leather sheath and dangler ring like some Bob's come with.
I have considered doing my own scales and getting a leather sheath to fit my Brakimo...But I just like the kydex system it has too much.
The Dragonfly is on my list , it's like the Bob and Brakimo had a skinny kid 😉😁

I really like how it packs small yet is a full 17" to sit on
    and very light indeed

Nice one, safer in the woods than the supermarket. That Bob looks pretty handy now you've fettled with it. Still I think you're better with one of those Rob Evans knives 😂

Great video..well done with your water. I’ve tried pouring like that and it’s not easy. I like your bike, it looks really well set up. I have a mountain bike too but just not as many add ons as yours.

      Thanks mate.
      That's my woods bike.
I have an old school MTB that I occasionally ride but that has no extra carry options on it.
      I also have a cyclo-cross bike .
I like bikes almost as much as I like knives!!

Hi Rob. Excellent mods and review on the B.O.B. I have two, and I modified both of them but I am undecided on the degrees to set on the micro-bevel whether to make it a 20 degree or a 22. I would appreciate greatly your advice on it. I thank you in advance.

    • @RobEvansWoodsman
      @RobEvansWoodsman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'd probably go 22 (steeper )as it's easier to take it down to 20 if it's too steep .
