I have three cards with American Express… I was told that once you receive a total of 25,000 credit limit across-the-board you may open yourself up to financial review My three are a little over 30,000 and I have not been required to produce any financial documents. I truly appreciate my relationship with American Express. I could see myself downgrading or eliminating other bank cards and sticking to American Express only. Thank you for this insightful video🏆🏆🏆
I fully relate & agree with you. Amex has always been amazing with me albeit I’ve always been responsible with my cards. I sense it’s people who over manipulate lie or cheat who get flagged. Be honest & real with them & im confident they’ll reciprocate in kind. They’re one of the oldest most prestigious financial credit/charge card institutions around. Customer service is always top notch as well.
pretty sure the general consensus was 25k on a single card, 35k combined "might" trigger a financial review. but it's definitely not a hard fast rule. i personally don't think your credit limit alone would automatically trigger it, if even at all. i know plenty of people, myself included, that have more then 25k on a single card and more then 35k cumulative and have never had a FR.
I also got the BCE as my first Amex card with a $2000 starting limit, and 96 days later, I requested a CLI to $7000, got $6000. It was saying that my account was too new when I tried from 91-94 days after account opening. I hope to get another 3x in July 🙃
Not sure I maybe I did the wrong steps but I got the Amex gold card. I met the spend limit in two months and then I applied and got the platinum card. They did do a second hard pull. Just a data point for you.
How long ago was this? You’re the first I’ve heard this happen to unless you got the business card first then the personal. That’s usually when that happens.
I got approved for my first AMEX Delta Gold card on March 21st and a Hilton Surpass card on March 28 with 5K limits each. On April 29th I for some reason wanted to see if I was ambitious to apply for the Delta Platinum card and I was instantly approved!!! When can I ask for my first credit limit increase on my first two cards. I heard 60 days or is it 90days ?
Hey Carl my experience was a lot different then what you’re saying I’ve Requested serval time for a CL in each time I was refuse denied . So I moved CL from another Amex card with a Higher CL to my Blue cash card . That how I got A credit Incase .I have seen were they offer me the Preferred BC card .
@@micahgreene4573 I just recently asked for credit card limit and was a small increase. I might get the Amex Gold next year or a different card. Thanks for the feedback

Idk if I'm screwed or not. I got an email from several monitoring services that my SSN had been detected on the Dark Web so I put fraud alerts on all 3 big CRA's. Can I still get CLI's with these alerts? Idk....
You have to wait a full year from the date you applied the fraud alert. Otherwise there's alot of hassle you gota go through to apply for any credit including cli
I applied for the same card and got the same CL. I'm hoping that if i just hold the card for 90 days i can get it to at least 20k. Let me know if you end up doing the same!
I'll Definitely be asking for a limit increase after the 90 days, even added a amex blue buisness cash card to get buisness credit built up. They also only did a 2k limit on it to but so far no additional hp and has not shown on my personal credit.
I’ve had my first Amex card since 2018 for 1000.00, every new I tried to get an increase and never got it. Fast forward to last year and they upgraded to blue cash preferred and I still can’t get an increase but now pay 95 annually. So I’m not understanding this video. I was told because I have 3 other Amex cards(platinum business, gold business and Amazon business) that I’m not allowed an increase on my personal card yet I got those business cards way after
@@merfnhis utilization was probably low. I've had Amex blue cash everyday with a $1000 credit limit for over two years. They deny me CLI every time lol I didn't understand at first. They want you to spend. I don't like spending. But yeah if the utilization is low they ain't budging
I have a total credit limit of $73,250 across 10 major credit cards and 4 store credit cards. Amex Blue Cash Preferred is my highest limit is $13,000. I am currently only using 2.5% of available credit across all credit cards; why I need more credit?
@@anthonywilliams9415 I'm actually thinking about closing a few of my credit cards though eventually close on their own if I'm not going to use them. Especially Citibank the only way you can really get the best payout with them is travel only through their travel portal.

But question, between my 3 cards I have a 22.5k limit. I once had a utilization report of like 13% and my score still dropped like 4 points which is below 30%. Why is that?
Did one of those cards go up in utilization by chance?? Total utilization-vs-Utilization on 1 card are 2 different points. I keep a TU around 2 to 3 %. But if I use a higher amount on one card and I don't pay it off by the reporting date, it will/can drop a couple pints. Once it's paid off or paid down extremely low, it'll go back up!👍🏾
You are going to hurt your credit score by having too much $$$ revolving credit available with high limit credit cards. The FICO score is inherently conservative. If someone has over 100K in revolving credit available, it will hurt your score. Even 50K-75K could hurt a credit score. It depends on how long you have had revolving credit in your established credit history. If someone has a credit report of 20 years or more, it may not matter as much.
Hey shut up no one knows the fico models like fico if someone can responsibly no over leverage them self with that type of personal limita then good on them. Mind your business
