I'd avoid the index funds, mutual funds, or specific stocks for the time being. The 5% fixed incomes are the safest bet for now. Save your cash for when the market actually shows sign of recovery.

here's a novel idea, perhaps it is best to hire the most qualified and capable person for the job regardless of their ethnicity, orientation or other factors.
People will still call them “DEI” regardless how qualified they are, just because it’s not a white man

Private companies have the ability to hire as they choose to. The federal government isn't enforcing them how to hire. You don't know what socialism is. Socialism would be a company equally distributing the revenue to all employees. Instead of a minority ownership.

Private companies have the right to initiate their own hiring practices. As long as the federal government isn't enforcing it then it's not an issue.
Discrimination based on race is illegal. Disparity is not illegal. Nor does disparity point towards systemic racism.

It’s sad how DEI has got a bad rep lately when it was meant for good, especially in a country like the U.S. that’s very diverse, with people from all walks of life. DEI brings people from different walks of life to look at problems from a different viewpoint. Increasing creativity. There is no question to their qualifications if they are required from all candidates.
