Oh gosh. I saw this fun funky film way back in the 80s when I skipped out from work more or less. I was a lowly clerk in a private accounting office who rarely got to leave my office. I had the rare chance of getting a business lunch with a client and after the lunch ended I decided to see a movie at the Mall where I'd just finished that lunch at Western Steer. I was young and playing hooky from work like I'd once done back in high school. Well. I saw this here film Biggles not knowing anything about it. I ended up having the best time enjoying and laughing and was even intrigued by the storyline. The bonus of it all was how I was still getting paid and my salary wasn't docked for that afternoon away from the office. Plus, that nearly sci-fi film, which it was in so many ways, forever stuck in my head for some reason...the title Biggles helped cement it into my brain. This is the first time I've seen it since so many years ago. I'm 62 now and retired but seeing this makes me feel young again. Thanks for bringing it to all of us to see again. It's a hoot and a half from my younger life.
I’m 81, bed-bound, and dependent on YT for most of my entertainment. I just got stoned with a fresh vape and watched this. It was an awesome fun way to spend time.

I loved this! Biggles enjoying his special flying machine! What a lark! And neatly having the Fokker nudge it out of the timeline. The look on the Fokker pilot's face when it first 'chops' past him 😱. And the moments when Raymond and Biggles re-unite. Nostalgic background score too. Their having a laugh, such a inaccurate bad movie. The Tiger Moth was never in WWI as it was built in 1929 and the Boeing Stearman about the same time, and the gunner in the rear cockpit had no flying controls.
@@grovoskigrovoski8681 Funny you should say that, as I saw a film where Henry Cavill was dressed in tights but he could fly and see through stuff and his Dad was Kevin Costner.....

Same here.... my grandparents brought me the VHS from a car boot sale because it was the start of the summer holidays and I had broken both legs and my right arm, and yes they also complained about it not being like the books or radio series. For my part.... I loved it, still do.....
I love this film and I think it's totally under appreciated. The scene where she touches the soldiers face and it falls apart leaving her with his eye in her hand is horrific! There's a real sadness to it and the (spoilers) miraculous ending is insane for a 1980s kids film.
As a kid, I read the 65 novels-and a couple of the Worrals novels. This is a halfway decent addition to the Oeuvre. Excellent, even if the American actors are a bit lightweight. 9/10
This is such a wonderful film. First saw it when I was a child in the early-90s. Right from the start with Jon Anderson's 'Do You Want To Be A Hero' the film hits the ground running. Shame it didn't do better commercial numbers when released- the final scene is perfectly set-up for a sequel. Peter Cushing is great, which is fitting as this was his last film.
Thanks, I wondered if the vocal was by Jon Anderson. I was impressed that they kept true to the spirit of the original characters and moral values of the novels.
I've been looking for this video for years, decades. I've watched this movie once, when I was not even a teen yet. I had one friend that knew of this movie. The rest thought we were crazy. This is my life now.
I read every Biggles book written by Capt. W.E.Johns back when I was 12 years old.....1957. The names all came back as the movie unfolded. Thanks for the wonderful memories. Any movies made with Gimlet?

Excellent. I stayed in the tower hotel last week for the coronation. Not by choice as it was booked by my employer but a great coincidence as I’d intended to stay in it or at least see it one day. The st Katherine’s dock area is lovely too. It must have been great to see the film in production there.
I. Am 52 yrs old and never heard of this movie, until now, this day when I posted my comments After watching This movie, this movs is left open To a sequel. Like I said in a previous post I want to see more.
I saw this in the mid 80s and having loved back to the future I was hungry for more sci-fi, and surprisingly it is actually a well shot crafted movie- sure it is full of anachronisms but it is a silly time traveling romp...as for the music [you really had to experience the 80s cheese to make sense of it] it was performed by Yes frontman Jon Anderson who went solo.
Biggles is an ace WWI biplane fighter pilot. "Let's set half of it in the present day, because time travel, and have him spend more time flying a helicopter." Absolutely MAD.
NEIL DICKSON should have played BIGGLES for years doing the proper books. This is a travesty for the genuine fans of the beloved children's character. Yet this was never the knockabout fun children's film either - for it is beautifully written with genuine love and care for each other . . .
I don't mind this movie, but it kills me that they didn't have the creativity to make up a world. Biggles deserved more. They runined the timeline of Biggles, and the entire series. As a buff it kills me
Just found your channel, have liked and subscribed. I never saw or heard of this movie until tonight through my older sibling. Back in 1986 I was a new mom and too busy with my growing family, but, happy I found it now and really enjoyed this movie. Too bad there were never any continuing stories to it, like Indiana Jones, or even a tv show based on the movie. Would have been fun to watch... Thanks for sharing.
46 year old here. Loved this movie as a child! As an adult, I know that Peter Cushing turning up at your doorstep at 11.15 at night I certainly no laughing matter 🫡🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Fond memories from childhood. The first time I’ve seen this film since the mid 90’s on VHS. Loved the books and it is a little shame they SciFI it up to appeal to a wider audience. Still a good yarn with Neil Dickson doing an epic job.
"It's gotta be those mushrooms i ate on the plane." "if you can fly a sopwith camel, you can fly anything". true ha there's some good one liners in this fun movie. i wish they made fun movies like this now.
This could’ve easily been a series! Like Quantum Leap!! THANKS FOR POSTING I HADNT SEEN IT SINCE THE MID TO LATE 1980’s! Reading the comments I Now find out it was a Series of Books! Well then BIGGLES AND FERGUSON IN TIME-Did Continue on! In Print! Now I too must know more!!
Cheesey crap! Exactly what I want to watch. It's basically Bubblegum for the Eyes! 😊 Edit: I thoroughly enjoyed that, and Peter was an unexpected gem. Thanks. Have a sub 😁
I was a massive biggles fan as a kid but although as an adult this film seems a bit silly and far fetched, most of the acting is brilliant and believable However, the idea of biggles flying a time travelling chopper to avenge his one true love’s death and foil Von Stalheim at the same time…..pretty awesome 😎 Oh and Ginger Algy and Bertie beating a whole division of Germans single handedly. It’s just the ridiculous music ruins it.
Saw this in the cinema when it was released and loved it at the time. It seems a bit creaky watching it all these years later but still great fun to watch.
I'm 72 and the only thing I know about Biggles is we couldn't. find him last Saturday. After all these years I finally know why. owned Thick as a Brick on 8 track and vinyl.
as children read all 'Biggles series' so influenced we siblings were that when opportunity came for flying lessons through NCC Air division, my brothers and me all went into it enthusiastically, they both did not go beyond student pilot stage while I reached 'CPL' commercial pilot , but had to leave for Germany to be with my sister in personal crisis...
Much of the desolated city building was filmed in Detroit. They saved a lot of money on sets. But was a fun movie. Well done old boy. Wish they made more of them.
This was one of those weird and enjoyable movies if you let the brain clutch slip a bit. Liked the scenes shot at the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, as well the sound weapon testing on the same grounds used for the last portion of Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket movie. The Stampe aircraft that was modified with a gun turret was also used in the film The Mummy and the Indiana Jones movie The Last Crusade.
Hello vumba, Good point but lets take in some details. This was a low budget film so for Joe Average it was a biplane with a noisy different motor hat could be safely flailed all over the sky. If you notice all the Shuttleworth stayed on their home base and on the ground. They were not going to beat on their then 80 year old airframes. Stil;l a fun movie.
Ah, nostalgia. I remember renting this on VHS when it 1st came out and being surprised how much I enjoyed it. Got to agree with someone else's comment on here that it could make for a good TV series now.

@@imchris1978 How dare you imply I'm not a time Traveller in my spare time. Timelordphobia!
Despite the 80's synthesizers, the Jon Anderson music in this is great!
What do you mean "despite"?
This is still better than any recent starwars films. Also peter cushing was in it. No cgi here Disney666
I loved all biggles comic books& stories & at age of 71 just enjoyed the last hour so watching this video .
Him: Look, I can make this wall fall down! Jim: Look, I can crush this gun! Her: Look, I can grab this dead guy's eyeball and optic nerve!
Thoroughly preposterously far fetched, Thoroughly preposterously enjoyable ole chap! :)
"suspended disbelief" is what viewers use to enjoy a movie
@@nancyallen628 Any movie.
46 year old here. Loved this movie as a child! As an adult, I know that Peter Cushing turning up at your doorstep at 11.15 at night I certainly no laughing matter 🫡🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
After the second world war,Biggles and his pals had the inglorious honour of rescuing Von Stalhein from the Soviets!
Huge Bartlett Let’s team up and make that sequel happen!
Fond memories from childhood. The first time I’ve seen this film since the mid 90’s on VHS. Loved the books and it is a little shame they SciFI it up to appeal to a wider audience. Still a good yarn with Neil Dickson doing an epic job.
First time to watch this movie. I m glad I found it. Thank you for your uploading and in good quality. 🌞
"It's gotta be those mushrooms i ate on the plane."
"if you can fly a sopwith camel, you can fly anything". true
ha there's some good one liners in this fun movie. i wish they made fun movies like this now.
loved this film as a kid. i still do
Wonderful movie. Enjoyed watching it. Thanks for the upload.
Those special FX boys really love their explosives! And they do look good on film.
Brilliant .. and very underated film ... When Peter appeared in this film it wasn't long after this film he died of Cancer ..
such a legend Peter Cushing
Cheesey crap!
Exactly what I want to watch. It's basically Bubblegum for the Eyes! 😊
Edit: I thoroughly enjoyed that, and Peter was an unexpected gem. Thanks.
Have a sub 😁
I was a massive biggles fan as a kid but although as an adult this film seems a bit silly and far fetched, most of the acting is brilliant and believable
However, the idea of biggles flying a time travelling chopper to avenge his one true love’s death and foil Von Stalheim at the same time…..pretty awesome 😎
Oh and Ginger Algy and Bertie beating a whole division of Germans single handedly. It’s just the ridiculous music ruins it.
Saw this in the cinema when it was released and loved it at the time. It seems a bit creaky watching it all these years later but still great fun to watch.
"Get us out of here before they start realising you're not a God, you're just an American!"
Read the novels as a child, didn't know this existed, fascinating and am fan of Peter Cushing and flying and still wearing bomber jacket
I'm 72 and the only thing I know about Biggles is we couldn't. find him last Saturday. After all these years I finally know why.
owned Thick as a Brick on 8 track and vinyl.
This is one of the best movies I`ve seen in a long, long time.
I f ing love the fact that Biggles goes undercover from the WW1 trenches with a load of 80s London punks
as children read all 'Biggles series' so influenced we siblings were that when opportunity came for flying lessons through NCC Air division, my brothers and me all went into it enthusiastically, they both did not go beyond student pilot stage while I reached 'CPL' commercial pilot , but had to leave for Germany to be with my sister in personal crisis...
whats the ncc air division??
Much of the desolated city building was filmed in Detroit. They saved a lot of money on sets. But was a fun movie. Well done old boy. Wish they made more of them.
Watched this so many times as a kid. Always wished it had a sequel
They left it wide open at the end, but nothing came what a shame
"If you can fly a Sopwith Camel, you can fly anything!"
My favourite quote
More truth to that line than many might imagine.
The original movie is better. This version is sped up for some reason. One of the best movies I've ever seen, regardless.
Using a Stearman for German aircraft was not very good. Imho the best movie with WW1 replica aircraft was the Blue Max.
Hello vumba,
Good point but lets take in some details.
Of all the great Biggles stories ever written, and they had to do...….this.
I think I read all the Biggles books as a kid. Loved them.
But I don't remember this one!
Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish
I wish somebody would make a serious biggles film
I remember watching this on VHS from the video rental shop up the road from my house. The sound weapon scene always scared/disturbed me.
Ah, nostalgia. I remember renting this on VHS when it 1st came out and being surprised how much I enjoyed it. Got to agree with someone else's comment on here that it could make for a good TV series now.
Oh i hope not as it would be ruined by the woke anti white /anti family pro abortion rabble
@@robertbrown8362 Not everything goes in that direction 👍
@@robertbrown8362 a very strange comment
I love this movie... Thx for putting it up.
