Custom Omnium Mini-Max WiFi Blurple Electric Cargo Bike

After much deliberating Emily and myself decided we wanted to invest in an e-cargo bike so that we can commute in the summer with our dog Bella aka Boolean. We contacted Paradise Cycles in Hackney, London as they're an official Omnium distributor; but also because one of the founders, James, also uses a cargo bike to commute with his dog, Leeloo. Paradise have been an absolute pleasure to work with. And as a result we have ended up with a very custom, very cool bike that literally has the potential to replace a car.
So this video is a bit different to previous build videos. This one was filmed by Emily, at our office, and built by me. Thankfully the bike was fully built and tested by James before being sent. I didn't even need to re-index the gears.

I’m having the same Omnium Min-Max Wifi (muscle powererd ;-), bought and picked up at the Omnium headquarter shop in Copenhagen. I f***ing love it! A fast ride with plenty of capacity (weight and size). my girlfriend on the rack also loves it :D
Very nice had seen bikes like that round London and always wondered what they where. Looked like all the packing was Bella chew toys, she'll soon get used to riding round it that. :)

Haha yep. There it is. A lot of work with the Dog though. We’re up to a few mins of pootling around the carpark by the office. By next summer we’ll be on mini adventures.

It would be interesting to see/Hear how you train Bella to be on the bike. I’m looking at different ways of taking my two dachunds on the bike
Very slowly, with lots of patience, and an understanding we may have wasted a lot of money on a cargo bike. 😂
We’ve already been doing pre-bike work on getting her used to bike and the confinement.
Next will be to build a small wooden crate for the front of the bike with the intention of eventually not using the crate.
We have a lot of large, mostly empty industrial car parks near the office so next 6 weeks or so will be working towards little trips around the car parks. But very small steps. Emily is in charge. I’m sure there will be some posts on Bella’s IG account.

Was the Lekkie required to reconcile chain offset with the Bafang? Glad to see a Bafang plays nice with this frame. About to start a similar build.

I really love this bike. Do you think you'll use it much for the business i.e. carrying parcels, goods, things to filming/shooting locations?
Unlikely. Will be a commuting vehicle rather than a car. Parcels/goods are handled by delivery companies. Filming/shooting would require a van to get it to location.
Looking good! I am surprised it's not belt-driven though.
Why? It’s a mega competent carbo bike that has the added benefit of some electronic assistance when needed. Why complicate it with belt drive and specialist hubs that no one local can service? This bike has massive gear ratios that i can change/maintenance with no bother and minimal cost.
@@Jimmidoesstuff Ah I didn't know it was hard to service. Here in the Netherlands you can just get it serviced anywhere. Most assisted bikes have belts here, because it's pretty much maintenance-free 🙂 But I guess I don't know if belts are a smart choice for cargo bikes, never used one!

Is it weird that the wheel isn’t at the front of the bike? My cargo bike is probably just as long but the front wheel is at the nose not half way. Load 75 for reference.
Erm, nah. Rides really nice. Rides like a normal bike really. Turning circle is really good. It’s odd not being able to see the front wheel mind. But get used to that fast. 😂
How tall are you? How does the XS frame fit? I was thinking about ordering one through James too. Worried it'll be too small at 172cm/5'8", but hoping to share with my wife who's 152cm/5'.

We know a few people that have bikes made by Omnium doing the things we want to do. And they all have very positive experiences.
The kickstand is also made by Omnium specifically for this bike.
