I was lucky to see Kris and Rita headline an all day Country Bluegrass Festival in October 1973, when they came on stage that night they were backlit by a huge golden Harvest Moon, it was incredible and yes their love just oozed all over, fantastic day and night. They don’t have shows like that now. $10.00 tickets and I got tipsy on the tequila some people bought and went skinny dipping in the lake, very early 70’s.❤❤❤❤

When he sang to her, he was at his best.😁😉 This is as sensual as the big dance in “Dirty Dancing.” I would bet he wrote this for her. It truly belongs to THEM!
I heard Rita being interviewed about her marriage to Kris. She said she had to finally take her daughter and leave because of all the women he had on the road. It was a situation where she had to save herself from an unfaithful spouse. She said she would always love him but she had to leave for self preservation!
I’m sure her story is true but, Kris had some major demons going on. I don’t excuse what he did or what she needed to do but, damn all those demons he had to deal with gave us probably one of the best song writers in generations. None, absolutely none, of todays singers/writers could even lick his boots. It’s terrible to appreciate the results of someone’s pain but, listening to his music puts us on another plane.

" Like a bird on a wire, like a drunk in an old midnight choir, I have tried in my way, to be free." Kris has requested these lines from " Bird on a wire " [ by Leonard Cohen ] to be written on his tombstone.
It was beautiful while it lasted, it seemed a shame when it ended, but they both ended up happy with new and satisfying relationships. As Jessi Colter remarked "Sometimes that heat burns you."

Help Me Make It Through the Night ...written by Chris
Take the ribbon from your hair
Shake it loose and let it fall
Layin' soft upon my skin
Like the shadows on the wall
Come and lay down by my side
'Til the early morning light
All I'm takin' is your time
Help me make it through the night
I don't care who's right or wrong
I don't try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
Lord, tonight, I need a friend
Yesterday is dead and gone
And tomorrow's out of sight
And it's sad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
Lord, it's sad to be alone
Help me make it through the night
Lord, it's sad to be alone
The sound of bass n its right mix with the whole music is one of the most beautiful indeed.
