Shit, I think he’s gonna do it. The problem with Jokic is that his style of basketball will automatically generate him crazy stats, so he’s gonna pretty much be in the mvp convo in every season he plays. The issue comes from how you argue against him, because it turns into pettiness, instead of actually analyzing the value his numbers bring (ie. 10 assist from Jokic are worth more than 10 assist from Westbrook, the same way that a Curry 3 is worth more than a Harden 3; it’s about how they do it, that sort of thing.)

@@tgs5725 because steph curry makes 3's at a higher percentage meaning, less 3's have to be taken to get the same result. So he means that westbrook has to attempt more passes (therefore worse quality) passes to get as many assists as jokic.

I would argue he works just as hard as those guys, its just that the stats come from him not chasing them, rather he works within the system and just does what comes natural to him.
Jokic vs Giannis vs AD could be one for the ages. If Jokic keeps this up I don't really think he loses as long as he gets a high seed. I think his numbers will come down a bit which could open up the door for AD and Giannis.

If y'all don't want Jokic to win another MVP, one simple solution: Stop Him. Same way Curry and KD stopped Bron from winning more during their glory days. Your only hope is Giannis, Shai, and Luka because Embiid is a bum.
The more these retired players talk the more you realize they aren't much different from that O.G at the barbershop that just chats like a casual when talking about basketball.

2:03 acting like Russ's triple double mvp yr he wasnt impactful is crazy. Their 2nd best player was Victor olidipo and they would have been a bottom of the conference team. Also his PER numbers were insane that yr
I hope Jokic keeps winning more and more MVPs so it forces bigs to learn how to play their position how it’s supposed to and try to get better like him.
Westbrooks MVP Year USG%: 41.7%. Jokics MVP Years USG% in a season : 29.6%, 31.9%, 29.3%. Russell almost averages a higher career USG%(31.5%) than Jokics best season.
Nick Young is a joke tho 😂 he’s a yap artist so idk why people take his opinions too serious. He sounds like the kid that spams “no” at opposing arguments.
It's easy to say Russell Westbrook was stat-padding. Maybe true. His MVP year advanced stats PER 30.6 (1st by a large margin, 2nd was KD with 27.6) WS/48 0.224 (10th) WS 13.1 (5th) VORP 9.3 (1st) BPM 11.1 (1st) Harden: PER 27.4 (5th) WS/48 0.245 (5th) WS 15.0 (1st) VORP 8.0 (2nd) BPM 9.3 (2nd) His USG% of 41.7% that season is the highest in league history. So while Westbrook might have won it on Vibes (KD leaving + 1st time a player averaged a triple double in a season since Oscar), let's not dismiss his entire season. At worst It's a toss-up between Westbrook and Harden.
A loud majority of the nba, the media and its fanbase just doesn't know how to appreciate greatness. They're so critical of everything these days, to a point where winning a chip can worsen ur legacy.
The problem with Swaggy P's take about Westbrook and Harden is that neither of them have been the driving force behind a championship winning team like Jokic was.
This is literally Giannis + very good defense 10:29 37point Trip Double 68% Shooting One of his best players is out the line up due to health He gets some rest the other team comes back into the game
Brown rn is arguably as good as Tatum or better. On top or 3 other all star level players as their 3-4-5. “Holiday’Kristaps’white. No one in the league could average jokic numbers on that efficiency. Nor could carry a team like that with no other all stars. Jokic won’t get that respect but he is literally already top 12 ever. YES HES OVER KD. He can be your best passer scorer and rebounder all at an all time great level. His defense is average. No part of his game has a negative. Just like a prime lebron. This is an American born sport. But we gotta start putting respect on these foreign players names. AAU circuit destroyed our advantage we had. Players overseas work on skill. Notice most the Europeans may not be as athletic but rely on their skill. We are outskilled at the game now. That’s where it needs to start. Jokic been the best in the league the last 5-6 years.
4:00 I don’t think Nick meant it literally when he said they’re just going to give him the mvp. If you look at lebron’s career there were multiple instances where he was clear MVP but they didn’t give the award. But with Jokic, it’s a different story.
for everyone questioning whether he deserves it: which team has a player that brings that amount of value to the team? which team would actually do better with their current 'MVP candidate' instead if JoKic is healthy and ready to play even in a below (his) average year he is better than everyone else (except Doncic maybe) and should win MVP
My thing is I've seen players be the best in the league 5 &6 years straight and the NBA makes its it a point not to give them the MVP jokic should be no different if he ends his career with more MVPs than players who are better it makes you think why did he get the credit and they didn't and he is definitely not the best ever 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ it is what it is if they are gonna steal MVPs from players they need to do it to everyone.
My only issue with the mvp conversation is the "voter fatigue" which has robbed some player's of mvp who had all time great seasons. I just find it absurd.
One thing I hate about the "I'm a former player, so I know better" archetype in media is becoming too funny. There's only a few of these archetypes that aren't arrogant as shit
Idk. I like Joker. But when you started naming those other players I feel like he should win another ring before they give it to him. Even saying top 10-15 with 4 mvps is wild. Everybody else would be like at worst like 6.
Jokic first mvp should of been Gianni’s the only reason they didn’t give it to giannis is because they didn’t want him to win 3 in a row Gianni’s would of won 3 and Jokic should of had 2 but also embiid year was robbed from Jokic so it should be 3 and 3

The jokic MVP stuff is trash because for the last 5 years you pretended defense doesn't matter and Giannis doesn't exist. Particularly egregious was 23 where the media and ppl like you pretended the BUCKS had the best record in the East only and not in THE ENTIRE LEAGUE while Giannis missed key teammates the entire season. They acted like embiid and Jokic were the only ones in the race and gifted an MVP to a TERRIBLE example of a ball player who didn't even have the best record in his conference.
You have to play 65 games to win MVP. Giannis only played 63 in the 22-23 season. The fact that Jokic and Embiid played more games was the factor. Tell the whole story next time.
@@evandupree6085He's talking about the year Embiid won MVP. Celtics were the best team in the east last season. Embiid would have won MVP last season without that rule, not Giannis or Jokic.

I think it’s because ppl aren’t okay with new players becoming all time greats. They don’t like the fact that their era or their knowledge of basketball is being challenged by others outside of what they know. Also, there’s the weird thing where ppl don’t like when one player is having a lot of success (at least when it’s not their favorite) and they want it to be someone different winning every time. Like they want everyone to get a turn.
Before the season I made a joke that I am hopeful that somehow the Nuggets pull off 3 tripple doubles in one game. (Jokic/Murray/Westbrook). I just want that just so that I can watch the response from all the haters.
I am tired of people thinking that the MVP goes to the best player. It doesn’t go to the best player. It goes to the person who is the most valuable for a team who has the highest seeds and who’s also playing great. If you want it to be a best player award then the NBA should make the best player award. Like in college they have player of the year. They need to put that in the NBA and give an MVP to a person who actually is on a winning team. If you’re anything below a third seed, you don’t deserve MVP.
It’s getting ridiculous he’s having one of the most dominant peaks in nba history’s. He’s literally having his best season of his career after winning 3 mvps. Lebron type peak 😂🤦🏾♂️
Personally, I think Jokic's defenders tend to go to far the other way and cry xenophobia more than is reasonable. I consider wins when determining the MVP and believe that the difference in winning between Tatum and Jokic outweighs the difference in statistical performance (For the record, I also think Westbrook shouldn't have won in 2017 for similar reasons). I also think that the goalposts for winning the MVP have coincidentally shifted in a way that benefits Jokic, since MVP considerations are seem to be putting stats over winning more and more each year. Because of this, I think the frustration with people acting like Jokic never has any competition due to statistical achievement on teams that barely make the playoffs. Overall, I believe that there is some xenophobia to the Jokic criticism, mixed with the fact that he is simply the face of the new MVP criteria that many people find frustrating.
Its wild the amount of gatekeeping the oldheads do to try and protect their era and their favorite players from new players from taking their records or even joining them in the record books. Jokic should be going for his 5th straight this season. The media took that away from him with a racist and xenophobic narrative pushed by ex players. Its weird.

@@tom97009 stat padding arguments in 2024 is so crazy, either every single nba player statpads or none of them do, you cant just pick and chose to suit your argument. @@samthenightowl5951facts, he displayed more emotions hitting a game winner
I dont watch basketball so I dont understand what you're saying. Why is a 3 from Steph Curry worth more than a 3 from James Harden?
The only time I've seen basketball is the finals every year. So at most 7 games a year.
@@tgs5725 because steph curry makes 3's at a higher percentage meaning, less 3's have to be taken to get the same result. So he means that westbrook has to attempt more passes (therefore worse quality) passes to get as many assists as jokic.

Russ and harden killed themselves to get those triple doubles on teams where they had the GREEN LIGHT to do whatever they wanted. Jokic game is so effortless and he doesn’t try harder than the other two, that is out there is greatness when you take something so difficult and make it look so easy to the point where people get upset at you for it.
I would argue he works just as hard as those guys, its just that the stats come from him not chasing them, rather he works within the system and just does what comes natural to him.
Jokić vs Gianni’s at this point for MVP (MAYBE AD) but yeah
Jokic vs Giannis vs AD could be one for the ages. If Jokic keeps this up I don't really think he loses as long as he gets a high seed. I think his numbers will come down a bit which could open up the door for AD and Giannis.
I had Giannis winning it last year up until the Bucks started selling
Bruh who cares what the No Rings/No Awards podcast has to say? Gils only award is Most Improved Player, which goes do dudes whos team didn't believe in them the year before or were injured and now ball out.
There are so many haters in these NBA/WNBA circles and it makes me so sad. It is just wild to me how people can't see how fun the stars of today are to watch. Instead of propping these players up and appreciating what they can do, everyone is instead obsessed with tearing them down because they don't meet this preconceived ideal of what they should be, who they should be, or how the game should be played. It's basketball, it is a kid's game, have fun and enjoy the game.
edit: spelling
since his last mvp season nobody is GIVING him a mvp he just taking it himself while givers trying to resist it
As a Luka fan, give that MVP to Jokic
If y'all don't want Jokic to win another MVP, one simple solution: Stop Him. Same way Curry and KD stopped Bron from winning more during their glory days. Your only hope is Giannis, Shai, and Luka because Embiid is a bum.
The more these retired players talk the more you realize they aren't much different from that O.G at the barbershop that just chats like a casual when talking about basketball.
Giannis should be in the MVP convo tbh
If the game was more physical like it was in the 90s 2000s it would make things different for a lot of these players cuz they can’t get the same numbers they usually get
Jokic getting 4 MVP and 1 championships doesn’t add up 🤔

If Westbrook averages a triple double and barely winning it’s stat patting but if it’s jokic it’s cause he’s the best?? come on now Low stop with the double standards 😂
Don’t forget they’re 29th in paint defense and he is the worse defensive center to win an mvp.
Bro loves one side of the ball he only makes these videos for joker and Luka.
Him acknowledging that they robbed other players of mvp because they got “voters fatigued”
Jokic does it on .565 from the field and .585 from 3. Just going to casually ignore that as if Russ has ever been efficient in his career.
2:03 acting like Russ's triple double mvp yr he wasnt impactful is crazy. Their 2nd best player was Victor olidipo and they would have been a bottom of the conference team. Also his PER numbers were insane that yr
The point about measuring how good a player is based on how close they relatively were to MVP per year is a fantastic point

Ty man, awesome video ...
It's easy to say Russell Westbrook was stat-padding. Maybe true.
His MVP year advanced stats
PER 30.6 (1st by a large margin, 2nd was KD with 27.6)
WS/48 0.224 (10th)
WS 13.1 (5th)
VORP 9.3 (1st)
BPM 11.1 (1st)
Harden:
PER 27.4 (5th)
WS/48 0.245 (5th)
WS 15.0 (1st)
VORP 8.0 (2nd)
BPM 9.3 (2nd)
His USG% of 41.7% that season is the highest in league history.
So while Westbrook might have won it on Vibes (KD leaving + 1st time a player averaged a triple double in a season since Oscar), let's not dismiss his entire season. At worst It's a toss-up between Westbrook and Harden.
We havent seen anybody do this before. Let us hope he gets equal coverage from mainstream media
"What do you want?" For Jokic to be black and American, clear as day my dawg.
Exactly it doesn’t matter what color he is. If he was African-American or Asian , I would still say he deserved the MVP because he just does.
Great job man!
He right this shit annual I remember watching this in 2022 in February while I was in LA 😂
When your debating on Jokic getting an MVP, don’t discredit what Russ has done. That is mad disrespect man.
This is literally Giannis + very good defense 10:29
37point Trip Double 68% Shooting
One of his best players is out the line up due to health
He gets some rest the other team comes back into the game
Jokic is also playing in the most loaded Western Conference in some time too!
I remember when they had mvp exhaustion back in the day. Not anymore for some reason.
Lmao Low used to say he’d never promote gambling and called out the people doing draftkings ads 🤣😭😭
Jokic been the best in the league the last 5-6 years.
jamal murray has been AWFULL this year
4:00 I don’t think Nick meant it literally when he said they’re just going to give him the mvp. If you look at lebron’s career there were multiple instances where he was clear MVP but they didn’t give the award. But with Jokic, it’s a different story.
I see Young learned from the school of Kendrick Perkins pulling the race card.😂😂
for everyone questioning whether he deserves it:
which team has a player that brings that amount of value to the team?
which team would actually do better with their current 'MVP candidate' instead if JoKic is healthy and ready to play
even in a below (his) average year he is better than everyone else (except Doncic maybe) and should win MVP
Every single time Swaggy on the show the ninja is there to argue, smdh.
Nah Low you’re buggin we literally saw this with LeBron in 2018 , but I agree Jokic deserves MVP
just cant wait tell a real a athletic player from europe style play that will be awesome
Low key AD not being in the mvp convo is insane. But yeah, Jokic has it EASILY if this keeps up.
One thing I hate about the "I'm a former player, so I know better" archetype in media is becoming too funny. There's only a few of these archetypes that aren't arrogant as shit
Joker is a dawg in a league full of cats and goldfish
I will never forget Nick Young saying he hated the Warriors cause they passed the ball
Idk. I like Joker. But when you started naming those other players I feel like he should win another ring before they give it to him. Even saying top 10-15 with 4 mvps is wild. Everybody else would be like at worst like 6.
Jokic should be going on 5 MVPs in a row
Jokic first mvp should of been Gianni’s the only reason they didn’t give it to giannis is because they didn’t want him to win 3 in a row Gianni’s would of won 3 and Jokic should of had 2 but also embiid year was robbed from Jokic so it should be 3 and 3
I thought they gave it to him because he was the only one hit 70 games, while everyone else barely hit 60.
Should’ve been Steph

The jokic MVP stuff is trash because for the last 5 years you pretended defense doesn't matter and Giannis doesn't exist. Particularly egregious was 23 where the media and ppl like you pretended the BUCKS had the best record in the East only and not in THE ENTIRE LEAGUE while Giannis missed key teammates the entire season. They acted like embiid and Jokic were the only ones in the race and gifted an MVP to a TERRIBLE example of a ball player who didn't even have the best record in his conference.
Shit comment

Jokic is the best player in the NBA. Period.
Just a shame he doesn’t have more rings, it’s pretty unprecedented to have 4 mvp guy only have 1 ring.
Its weird.
man should have 5 straight realistically
(though i still think Giannis could have won in 22 or 23)
Jokic is already top 12 of all time
Its also these old heads who don't want him to win another one because they dont think he's an all time great center.
This what happens when teams are saturated with 3point shooters that its hard to see their impact on the team.

@@tom97009 stat padding arguments in 2024 is so crazy, either every single nba player statpads or none of them do, you cant just pick and chose to suit your argument.
