  • Everything you need to know about title V in Massachusetts. These questions always come up when you're buying or selling a house with a septic system. Title V is a state environmental code enforced by the local board of health. Since we're dealing with wastewater systems, you can imagine there are potential hazards. Title V is ultimately concerned with these risks to the local environment (and neighbors).

My realtor told me that if I replaced the septic I wouldn’t see a return on the investment. Didn’t end up replacing. Full of crap!

I live in the Grove area of West Roxbury, MA. I've been here since 1994. When I moved in, almost all of the houses in the Grove had cesspools. I still do. I have watched house after house sell for half the price just because no one wanted to buy the houses with the failed systems. Then a flipper would buy the house, connect to the city or put in a new system and sell the house for market value. A recent example, my neighbors sold their house for $212k in 2018 to a flipper who turned around and sold it for $515k. You definitely want to upgrade your system, yourself. I would prefer to flip my own house, thank you. t
