- During the Day of the Black Sun, Zuko decides the time has come for him to confront his father, however, as it turns out, Ozai is far more interested in discussing his latest attempts at comedy.

Paper-bending is actually very different to origami, but I refuse to elaborate as to how.
The voices are AI generated (with significant editing by me to make them sound the way I envision for the delivery.)
The images are screenshots taken from Avatar: The Last Airbender, with captions added using Imgflip.
The script was written by me and the editing was likewise done by me.
Ozai is perfectly aware of the fact that he makes bad jokes.

Zuko eventually looked inside himself to save him from his other self, then, his true self revealed itself.
As silly as this reads, it's pretty much an accurate recounting of Zuko's arcs.

Ozai was a legendary general and legitimately appointed Azulon's successor when he stopped an evil palace conspiracy. Any claim to the contrary is Airbende and Iroh propaganda.

Why is Ozai so much nicer in here than in the actual show. It's so jarring yet hilarious. Also some of his dad jokes are genuinely really threatening and if Ozai wasn't as serious-toned of an antagonist I would've expected him actually saying them. The Air Nomads one *1:53* was fire 🔥
That's actually something I'm internally debating. IS Ozai nicer here? Is it better for him to "involve" himself in his son's life if he does it by laughing at his expense, insulting him and playing all the years of abuse and mistreatment as jokes and pranks, blaming ZUKO for taking it so seriously and being too sensitive? Or is he ironically a "better" (although "marginally less awful" is probably more appropriate) father in canon by being so completely dismissive and disregarding of Zuko?
I'd argue he's crueler here because in the edit, because this is purely sadistic joke with little moral reasoning, not unlike the joker. Whereas ozai in the show has "reasons" (might makes right) to disfigure zuko.

To be fair puns ARE a type of joke. While they are low effort, that low effort allows them to be deployed more reactionarily than a more complex joke, relying more on wit and delivery than writing skill. Often the flaws of puns comes not from the craft of puns themselves but the person delivering them as they either choose unimaginative wordplay or overemphasise the wordplay during the delivery robbing the audience of the epiphany when they figure out the wordplay.
Good puns are delivered deadpan so the audience can discover the pun and with good wit, use wordplay that subverts their expectations in new ways.
You can say that a good pun especially by Ozai will leave his opponents breathless.

I can just picture Sozin having a meeting the council of air nomads(while Roku is alive), he tries to lighten up the mood, but the air nomads bully him for his terrible jokes and he comes to the brink of crying.
At the day of the comet he once again tries out his poor jokes, they bully him more and say atleast now they won't have to hear his poor attempt at humour.
