Atlantis is neither the Azores or the Richat. The basis for the landmass is the Cycladic plateau, which would have made (most of) the Cyclades a single large island around 12,000 BCE. ...there are a couple scholarly papers on this.

I live in the azores and I belive that this island are part of Atlantis. In school they don't teach us about the origin of these island, we learn more about the main continent Portugal and the history of the português culture.. I always had a feeling that we are part of the Atlantis story.. Azores are the most natural, beautiful 9 island in the world.. Peace and love to all🏝️🌍🙏💜

The Azores are named after and were ruled by Azaes of Atlantis (one of the ten kings of Atlantis.) The capital of Atlantis is the Richat in Mauritania, Africa. The Azores were used as a place to rest and resupply during the return trip back across the Atlantic to Africa from Central America and the Caribbean. Atlanteans used the tradewinds to sail back and forth across the Atlantic and the Azores lie within the tradewinds on the return trip.

@@marijuanaman3757 You say that, yet etymology, Berber history & religion, Basque culture, geology, matches to Plato's account of Atlantis, science on the Younger Dryas, Egyptian religion, Greek mythology, Basque & Berber rare blood frequency, etc. refute your claim, some of which refute the seamount by several different above subjects cross-corroborating the Richat as the capital of Atlantis. Sorry, but your assumption-based, uninspected hypothesis fails in the face of scientific method, where the Richat hypothesis is close to a mathematical certainty. Experts on Atlantis know the three definitions of "Atlantis" as well as what the word "Atlantis" originally meant.
Experts on Atlantis have read the majority of or all of Plato's details about Atlantis and compare all of Plato's details to a given theory. The best experts use scientific method to weed out the impossible.
People who don't know what they are talking about take a few of their favorite details that Plato wrote about Atlantis (a word that they can't define and thus do not understand) or the commonly-assumed, incorrect, pop-culture narrative about Atlantis that Plato never actually wrote and make ignorant assumptions, which they are often wrong about. These people routinely can't process facts because they are closed-minded, lack critical-thinking skills and are in love with their own pet theory, which is almost always wrong. The reason most people pick a pet theory about Atlantis and get it wrong is because they really don't know what they're looking for in the first place and wouldn't know Atlantis if they found it by accident since they don't know what "Atlantis" means or the details that identify it. If a person didn't know what a cat was but knew that a cat had fur, then anything from a woolly mammoth, to a hyena, to a dog, to a rat could be identified as a "cat." This is the method that most people use to attempt to find Atlantis and it is a comically inept and completely unscientific approach to the subject of finding Atlantis.

@@marijuanaman3757 I don't have to cope. I have data that proves my stance, whether either of us like it or not.
Interesting tactic for you to argue with insults and your feelings, instead of data.
Your delusion is unfortunate. If you can't understand me or Plato then it would seem that Atlantis is too difficult of a subject for you. A pastime that doesn't require thinking, such as watching TV, seems to be the level of intellectual interaction that you are capable of.
If you actually read and remembered any of Plato's details except your favorite one or two, you'd have a chance to know something about Atlantis. Your hypothesis is based upon ignorance and doesn't align with Plato's writing on Atlantis.
Plato wrote that Atlantis' capital island was on a lake/inland body of water, which the Richat was between 15,000--8,000 years ago, according to radio-carbon dating. The capital island of Atlantis was never on the ocean, according to Plato's original writings in Ancient Greek. You have been misled to believe that Atlantis' capital was on the ocean by an incompetent translation of what Plato first wrote and an assumption that "sea" always means "ocean" when it obviously doesn't. Plato wrote that Atlantis was " covered by water" and subsided into a lake, not an ocean. Again, Atlantis never sank into an ocean, according to Plato. A continent that sank wouldn't leave Plato's "impassable barrier of mud to voyagers sailing hence (from Atlantis' capital) to any part of the ocean... caused by the subsidence of the island (of Atlantis, meaning the capital island, not the continent of Atlantis that is classically shown as Africa upside down)" because ocean currents would wash away mud quickly but a mega-tsunami like the one indicated by Bright Insight and confirmed by Oz Geographic that swept over the width of modern Mauritania (where the Richat is located) within the last 12,000 years certainly could have deposited Plato's "mud" that prevented sailing from the lake around the Richat or by the nearby Tamanrasset River to the ocean.
      W. Africa doesn't need an ocean running through it to be Atlantis. Read any scientific studies about the last African humid period, and you will learn that a significant portion of the Sahara was savanna. The Sahara had massive rivers and mega-lakes as little as 5,000 years ago. The Richat itself was a lake at the time of Atlantis and had the nearby Tamanrasset River running to the ocean and could be traveled both ways (from inland to the coast and from the coast inland) becuae of the level of its slope.
"Atlantis" means "Atlas," Atlantis' king that Atlantis is named after. Atlantis' capital, the Richat, is in the Atlas Region next to mountains named Atlas (no not the Atlas Mountains that everyone knows about,) with a tribe of Atlases living nearby (attested to by Herodotus) and near the Atlas Ocean that was named from Africa's West Coast (according to etymology) where Atlantis' capital is. But you'd know that Plato wrote that Atlantis' land and nearby ocean were named after Atlas if you'd actually read Plato's writings on Atlantis and knew anything about the 50+ criteria for Atlantis that Plato listed, apart from a meager couple of details.
Richat has verifiable evidence of Plato's details for Atlantis: elephants (bones, cave art,) concentric rings of land and sea (15,000-8,000 years ago) in correct number/sequence surrounding a central island with a freshwater spring, water exit to the south, massive collection of red white and black rocks, beautiful mountains sheltering it to the north, abundance of gold in the region, proximity to highest twin birth rate in the world (Atlantis was ruled by five sets of twins,) center of central island is 50 stadia distant from the lake/inland water body, 2000 by 3000 stadia plain (with natural landmarks) that descends toward ocean, etc.
The Azores are named after Azaes of Atlantis, not Atlas. The capital of Atlantis is named after Atlas. The Azores were a colony of the Atlantean Empire, just not part of the continent and certainly not the capital. You'd probably know that too if you weren't so closed-minded and ignorant. The Azores are past Gibraltar, an island surrounded by the Atlantic and named after one of the 9 subordinate kings of Atlantis. That is where the Azores similarity to Atlantis' capital and continent ends because the Azores have no other details that match Plato's description of Atlantis. Every other similarity that the Azores supposedly had relies on complete imagination and zero tangible evidence. If there were more solid evidence for the Azores, they could compete with the Richat.
The Azores has a less than 10% match rate to Plato's criteria for Atlantis. The Richat has an over 90% match rate to Plato's criteria for Atlantis. If Carlson had a lot of objectively-verifiable evidence to support his hypothesis, he might have a case. Sadly, Carlson's case is 90+% imagination and less than 10% objective facts.
I'd suggest using scientific method to vet your hypothesis before posting uninspected theories or at least be open-minded enough to consider any hypothesis with better matches to Plato's description of Atlantis.
I like Carlson. He has had many good ideas and I commend him for challenging ignorant dogma in academia. Unfortunately, Carlson is wrong in this case. Like you, he is ignoring a lot of relevant information about the criteria that Plato described Atlantis as having, is using tunnel vision to focus on a few data points rather than the extensive criteria for Atlantis and is in love with an idea that is widely considered impossible/improbable in the scientific community (glaciers raising the mid Atlantic ridge out of the ocean.) It certainly is an imaginative idea. As brilliant as he usually is, Carlson is being fairly bone-headed about Atlantis. You can't come in with a "weaksauce" case of less than 10% match to Plato's criteria for Atlantis and then ignore a match of over 90% to Plato's criteria and expect to be taken seriously.
The Richat hypothesis is mostly facts that objectively match Plato's criteria for Atlantis, supplemented with plausible guesswork that matches Plato's criteria for Atlantis. Local culture, other subjects and scientific studies corroborate this theory.
The Azores hypothesis is mostly guesswork and imagination. Most of the scientific community refutes the mid Atlantic ridge claim. Only a couple of objective facts match the Azores to Plato's criteria for Atlantis. Etymology and Berber culture argue that the Azores are not the capital island of Atlantis.

Randall Carson talked about the post glacial rebound on a Joe Rogan podcast, and how it would have affected the mid-Atlantic ridge. The land under the North American ice cap was pressed into the crust. Likewise northern Europe and the British Isles. In Canada today today the center of that depression is still rising at 18mm, but of course it would have risen much faster shortly after the ice was removed, likely by a comet impact at 12,900 BCE. I am a pilot. Pilots learn that if air is moving downwards in one location, say the center of thunderstorm, it must move up elsewhere, say the trailing edge of the thunderstorm The same is true for land, albeit on a much longer time scale. The Azores plateau is at a three way hinge between the mid-Atlantic ridge. Press down on North America and Europe, and the plateau would bob up like a cork. Remove the pressure and the plateau will be sucked down. As further evidence, core samples taken from the plateau contain minerals that could only have formed in open air within the last 100,000 years.

The Azores were not the capital, nor the continent of Atlantis. The Azores were an island, subordinate kingdom of Atlantis, named after/ruled by Azaes of Atlantis. The Azores were a rest stop for Atlanteans returning from America back to the capital of Atlantis in W. Africa via the trade winds on reed boats (thenupa.) Spiral solar calendars (carved into rock) are all over W. Europe/Africa and the E. Americas. These spiral solar calendars indicated when it was safe to sail in order to avoid hurricane season.

@@Apocalypse_Tube If I was to say I was there at various points during the vast and rich hidden history which was the Atlantean Civilisation, going way, way, way back and encompassing all of the three main volcanic catastrophes which hit the main Atlantean mainland over many hundreds of thousands of years, it would probably and understandably raise a few eyebrows in disbelief. All I can honestly say is that various versions of my soul did embody and take incarnations during these varied times of Atlantis. The last remaining section of which you are referring to here in your wonderful video presentation is the island states which made up Poseidon (The later day Atlantis) prior to that there was the original city of the Golden Gates, with its concentric circle arrangement. This was the true original Atlantis, the city located 15 degrees north of the equator. Your analysis is unique and fascinating. I've never heard anything about Atlantis reasoned quite as well, let alone leading to such precise conclusions. That a candidate site should be found exactly where Plato described it and corresponding to the dimensions he recorded can't be sheer coincidence. One suggestion: It might be helpful to overlay a few known geographic features as you zoom in from the aerial, continental view to the closer harbor view. It is difficult to see it in my mind's eye, but if you could superimpose San Francisco Bay, for example, over the Atlantean harbor, it would be tremendously useful. Since you have readers from all over the globe, I'd use several different references, such as Hong Kong, Puget Sound, San Diego's Mission Bay, and others. I'm sure you can think of many. Thanks for all your good work.

Ignatuis Donnelly also has some views on the location of Atlantis based on Plato's narrative, situating it in what was called Dophin's Ridge back in the day, suggesting a yet much larger area that could have been submerged.
Maybe this is why the Portuguese government has extended its free economic zone of that area to over 600 kilometres around the Azores islands to be able to drill and mine, according to its own sources.
Very interesting video, we really seem to need to take a closer look at our history, what is often called a myth makes one wonder taking a closer look at it. Thank you.

Considering an earthquake in Nepal made some of the mountains sink/lose height by some ~6cm from subduction, yet Everest grows annually some ~2cm from adduction from the Indian plate pushing - The fabled disastrous possible earthquake that sank the city could be such one event - (as well as either the sea-levels risings some ~400m to what it is presently/younger dryas extinction event cerca purportedly around the time Atlantis is said to exist. On a side note, a ~14,000 yr old 'ice age' village discovered in BC on lands and from stories passed down to the decedents of the band, of an area of land unfrozen when most of the continent was under (a) glacial ice sheet(s) - so civilised communities definitely existed longer than is currently accepted.) - great stuff btw!

As well as of course, the South East Asia landmass and the Australian continent being joined to Asia. A lot of academia is blinded by the idea that the topography isn't the same then as how we see it now.)

I've always thought it was here myself, not based on evidence although there is some has you have found, but more of a feeling. It's interesting to note the former inhabitants of nearby Canary Islands (called the Guanches by the Spanish explores) were noted to be of great height (6 to 8ft on average) and faired haired & skinned which in that area is unusual. Though it's not so unusual though when you dig into the history of the adjacent regions. There are legends of a similar looking people occupying the Atlas Mountains of north Africa since ancient times. The celts of Europe also fit this description along with a some of the Germanic tribes. When Caesar questioned the Gaulish Celts about where they came from they said their ancestors came from the sea up the rivers to Gaul (France). They were also of a similar size appearance too compared to the 5ft romans eating mostly bread all day. The Spanish Celts, British Celts, and Irish Celts all had similar origin stories and were similar sized. I'm not suggesting the Celts came from the west but that the people who later became Celtized by the influence of the Hallstatt culture did. Also, the Egyptians who said to have originated from a much older culture have stories about their Gods arriving down the Nile by boat from the sea. Much of the upper class of Egypt was discovered to have red hair, and upon genetic study of mummies, a link was found between then and central/western European Celts who also had red hair. In Greek Myth Aphrodite who said to have come from the sea also has red hair. The Atlanteans were noted to be militant, warlike, and excelled at all military feats. They were also described as being very spiritual as well. All the people who have these myths about people arriving from the sea and founding their cultures were all martial, of great height (or a few individuals were at one time), and were very spiritual.
In edition if you consider that most of the ocean was bound up in the ice sheets back then, and the possibility that those sheets would have possibly connected with the northern tip of the island if it was in the Azores, then it's not hard to see how navigating the Atlantic back then would have been significantly easier. So much so that my opinion Proto European peoples, like the basques could have traveled by canoe, following the ice sheets than stumbled across the island. Being hunter gathers living off animals in both land and sea for most part this would have made them particularly robust physically. Add a little island dwarfism/gigantism and a small population of hunter gathers could potentially shoot up from 5 - 6ft to 7 - 8ft. Additionally there are stories of red-haired giants in the Americas as well. They weren't that primitives either surprisingly according to natives and either warred with, aided, or traded with them at one time or another. My theory is that after changing physically due to the island geology/ecology for a few thousand years, they spread out in both directions of Atlantic attempting colonize the land the formerly covered by ice or maybe more habitable by its retreat. There may have been people there already, left over from the initial migrations of Proto European peoples out of Europe who followed the glaciers or coasts, traveling to multiple continents settling down. These people were probably too primitive to resist so were absorbed into their population along with natives from everywhere to Africa, Europe, Near East and the Americas. After the island sank due any number of factors, isolated population pockets on the islands or former colonies regressed technologically and culturally without support from the mother country, while places like Egypt prospered due to the intelligentsia fleeing there.
Sorry for the monologue lol. This has always been a personal interest of mine. Obviously, this all theories and conjecture, but it’s interesting to think about.

      1. "Gaul" literally translates: Foreigner(s)
It is the ancient Germanic word that they used to describe the Celts (or any Foreigners). This descriptive was misunderstood by the Romans as the name of the people rather than a adjective.
      2. Authentic Conjecture is underrated. The problem today is that mainstream, funded, scientists hide their conjecture as "science".

    • @horpakheret3447
      @horpakheret3447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The Atlantean origin of the Guanches, the Basques and of the Berber People of the Atlas Mountains is somewhat obvious for geographical reasons, and more than plausible that of the Egyptian elite ( and also Sumerian) and the various branches of the Celts for many other reasons, some also anticipated by NA. Yet, though Atlantis had to have a representation of all the 4 original races, it was basically the center of the Red Race which at some point must have become overwhelmingly aggressive and forced the others to flee, so I'd see Celts and Sumerians-Egyptians as "white" eastbound migrations much long before Atlantis destruction. As to gigantism, the Atlantean time was unquestionably the age of giants, but I would not make this solely dependent on a carnivorous diet of wildlife; it would be a merely materialistic explanation of a modern kind. In the period under consideration, the cause due to a dramatic psychic imbalance - consequence of a break with the spiritual domain - had to be much more decisive and affect also the very balance of the earth's axis. It would therefore be more appropriate to link the origin of gigantism to the origin of cannibalism, as suggested by the myth of Pelops, according to which the gods, upon realizing that they were eating human flesh, "overturned the table ( i.e., the Earth's plane of revolution) in horror" , and consequently produced that sudden upheaval of plans that caused the great catastrophe. After all, the Cyclopes, in Greek mythology, were cannibals. In this context, the portrayal of the European peoples as "too primitive" gatherers and hunters applies best to the early phase of the post-catastrophe period, but for the Atlantean period it contrasts with Plato's account, which describes the Greeks at the height of their civilization as allies of the Egyptians against Atlantis.

@@matthewstorer8236 this site gives as its goal the discovery of the city of Atlantis - and as a corollary of anything that may have relation to its empire elsewhere in the Atlantic - following to the letter the account of Plato, who reports that of Solon, who reports that of the Egyptian priests. Thus, it is the Egyptians who speak of Atlantis and of the Greeks of the Atlantean period - about which Plato's Greek contemporaries had forgotten everything - following their chronology, preserved uninterruptedly in the temples. According to your reasoning, which is that of the official historiography, in 11000 B.C. no civilization existed, so neither did Atlantis and the Egyptians.

@@horpakheret3447 Exactly my point. I'm sure fictional writing existed in Platos time. Besides, there were colossal disasters that could have given Plato a basis for the story like the eruption, earthquakes and tsunami associated with Thera. The way I see it, there are two possibilities:
    1/ The Azores Plateau
    or
2/ Plato used it as a metaphorical device and it wasn't literally true.
I WANT 1 to be right, but until greater evidence is produced 2 holds the cards. Not because I think it's definitely right, but because it's the one that needs less explaining with all things being equal. I hope time will tell.
Given the way that the Plateau falls away so steeply to the east, I don't think it would theoretically be necessary to have the city's bordering sea be inland.

Greater Atlantis in the Azores area and Lesser Atlantis around Santorini. Greater Atlantis was destroyed by an asteroid which broke into two large parts punching holes into the earth crust under the Atlantic along with thousands of smaller fragments, about 11,540 years ago. Lesser Atlantis was destroyed when Santorini's volcano exploded some 5,500 years ago.

That a candidate site should be found exactly where Plato described it can't be sheer coincidence. One suggestion: I would find it helpful to overlay known geographic features over the candidate site as you zoom in from the aerial view to the harbor view. It is difficult to see it in my mind's eye, but if you could superimpose San Francisco Bay, for example, over the harbor, it would be tremendously useful. Since you have readers from all over the globe, I'd use several different references, such as Hong Kong harbor, Puget Sound, and others. I'm sure you can think of many. I've always wondered Wether the sheer weight of the North American ice sheet covering the whole North of the US and Canada would have raised the edge of the continental plate right around the area of the azores.
All that ice disappeared pretty quickly which would have caused the opposite edge of the plate right around the azores area to see a major drop in a relatively short amount of time. That and the huge rise in sea level could be exactly what went on to cause the sinking of a near continent sized land mass.
We know that right now Scotland is experiencing a bounce back of sorts from the glacier that was weighing it down in the past. Scotland is nowhere near the edge of its continental plate though so its only experiencing a very slow upward movement.

Thanks for this video. Unfortunately, you do not use the information given by Plato on the size of the plain in the southern portion of the island of ~550 by ~350km, surrounded by a massive ditch ~30 deep by 185m wide, in turn (partly?) surrounded by hills/mountains. May that not be now the northwestern corner of the African Plate at some 2000mBSL? This would relocate Atlantis (city) much further South than where you have it?

I was convinced that the Eye of the Sahara was Atlantis until I watched some of Randall Carlson's videos. The Richat structure is too big. Randall points out that the Azores is a much more likely candidate. When you consider that the Atlantic was much lower during the last ice age, it makes sense. Something big happened, comet or asteroid, that caused a large surge of water which washed Atantis away and the remains are still under the ocean.

I do discuss potential links between the Azores and the Richat Structure in episodes 8, 9 & 10 of my Atlantis series:

“This power came forth out of the Atlantic Ocean, for in those days the Atlantic was navigable; and there was an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Heracles” - Plato, from Timaeus
If it was on the other side of the pillars it would be on the land?

Congratulations. Nice video. I wrote a book "The code of Hathor deciphered" that explains the reason/origine of the world flood. As Plato said, there were many great disasters, like for instance meteorites, but there is one recurring disaster which is the greatest of all. This is the precession disaster. In my book, I explain that the precession is actually the orbit of our solar system, and because of this orbit, the Earth axis will shift eacht period of half precession or 12,888 years, which of course creates a world flood and the sinking of Atlantis in 1 day and 1 night. I really recommend to read it because it's so well prooved that it amazes.

Google Earth only has limited bathymetric data, I'm guessing it has something to do with copyright or permissions? Try using the EMOD portal (the data isn't as clear as it once was, they are constantly updating and merging their datasets for a more complete picture of the sea floor. It looks like a few datasets have been merged right where my proposed location is, but you can still make it out pretty well):

The abundance of grinding equipment makes it quite clear that food processing on a massive scale was highly likely. I'm not so sure if I agree with the relief carving being used to identify the animal that was in the enclosure. If there were wild boars in an enclosure, you wouldn't need to look at the carvings to understand this, you would just see and hear all of the wild boars.
