So much nostalgia in this town. The Fullers are my sister's godparents. That tavern used to be Soukup's Hardware and there was a gas station on the corner. Other places I miss seeing are Foster's toy store, the Whistle Stop video rental place (in the old train station), and the Hinsdale News Agency, where I used to get my comics as a kid. Page's diner was a special treat sometimes where we'd go to get pancakes before school if we got up early enough. The farmer's market used to be held in the alleyway behind Soukup's hardware. King Kaiser is where we would go to get our sports uniforms for school and for the golf club swim team. I've also still got my Hinsdale bank card, though I no longer have an account there. Also, casual Lamborghini at 8:02 really set the right mood haha!
That's a wonderful trip down memory lane! It's amazing to hear about your personal connections and experiences in Hinsdale. The town has a rich history and has clearly left a lasting impression on you. It's funny how those unexpected moments, like the Lamborghini can add a touch of charm to a place. Speaking of which, I actually have a cool pic of a Ferrari in the downtown as well. It's those little things that make exploring Hinsdale so special.
I grew up in Hinsdale in the 80s/90s in a house built in 1894. My parents bought it from the granddaughter of the man who built it. I miss Hinsdale a lot.

My family lived in Hinsdale from the 1920s -1995. And owened business on chestnut Street 502 w- 532 ..in the 1950s -1989..Chestnut service station and car wash..until 1978...and R&R restrant. 1950s -1989...eggert bros fuel oil,heating co.untill 1989..retired and sold property to Midwest Bank in 1989..at Madison and chestnut st.. our family served Hinsdale and surrounding villages with fuel heating oil...service station with car wash..on chestnut st..bill vecek..was a reg customer..at the service station..in the 1960s and 70s...the former white Sox owner..and others..ty..just a little history of west side of Hinsdale..on chestnut st..

My partner and I live in Chicago, but we love Hinsdale and thought about moving there. We do so much business in Hinsdale that it just made sense. However, we are marginalized people of color and often find ourselves being stared down by older generations and white women who look at and treat us like we do not belong. For the younger generations and community members who know us, they are so kind and loving. However, we cannot shake the disgusting behavior we are faced with every time we visit which is at least once a week. It is such an unfortunate thing because it does seem like a beautiful community, racial prejudice aside.

Did they ever find enough money to continue high school athletics like most school districts or do the kids just not compete because the school district is so poor ?

That being said, Hinsdale also has some excellent schools that offer a great education and resources to students.
