Mazda3 has been a popular small car but can it still compete with SUVs for buyer preference?

Here in the states, I like hatchbacks and I like cars. An SUV is not a car! For some reason everyone wants SUVs, even if they don't have families to haul around. I don't understand - they're boring to drive and don't look good in my opinion. Looking at a Mazda 3 in the near future (different region obviously) but I'm really not looking forward to any sort of digital key - that's a problem waiting to happen. Such is life 🙄
