It's worth stashing a twenty pound note or two in a sealed plastic bag under the bike seat somewhere for those emergencies like when the phone packs up or similar !
I went camping through Germany, Switzerland and France to Monaco in 1979 on my GT550 with my girlfriend riding pillion. No mobile phone, no credit card and not a lot of money. We had some unexpected repairs after a front wheel puncture on our way back on the Autoroute. We only had money left for petrol and camped in gardens and on the edge of football pitches on our way back. People are nice! We finally got food on the ferry back to Denmark where my debit card worked. We had been sharing a baguette for two days. Good times.
I fully appreciate this is your business so being in contact and earning is an absolute necessity. Have you tried even more freedom of going for a ride with no phone AND no vlogging equipment? Just you and your bike! 👍
I used to deliver cases of wine to Chatsworth House on a regular basis and always thought it was a very scenic area, loved driving the delivery van round there. Alas, there was never enough room to load my bike in the van as I usually set off with 2 large pallets of wine which practically filled the back of the Transit van 🤣🤣. You have got a great area for biking Richy just as I have living near Durham, with the Scottish borders, dales and lake district all within easy reach.
I have my doubts it will ever open, Beeley villagers are probably happy with less traffic Been down it on ADV350 scooter (mainly because no room to turn round) and then tried back lane from Edensor same day (did give up and turn round there)
Very pleasant ride out early in the morning and looked very peaceful with nobody else around. Richy, I have been down that dirt track many times but only on your videos. 👍 I remember one year, the floods washed a part of it away!
I grew up in Dronfield so I used to walk up Beeley Moor a lot - we also used to muck about in rally cars on what we called "Beeley white" which was a much wider track that might be part of the trail. Thanks for the tip and video - I'll have to get up there again on my Tiger.
use the beeley moor off road regular, great bit of dirt road for beginers, like you say the regular road was so badly damaged a few years ago, its will be very unlikely get repaired, you can get through on a bike with care, done it a few times
I’ve been on Beeley Moore god knows how many times, I’ve cycled there, took the tiger and I used to own a shogun so that went down it too. Absolutely love it for the same reasons you do, funnily enough I often stop exactly where you do just to soak it in. I’m also a big fan of houndkirk, especially in winter when it’s quiet 👍 can’t beat the Peak District, feels like home!
aye that resonates with me! Phone on silent, only a few selected notifications, and quite ofen phone left at home, sometimes deliberately! 😂 And always some money in my pocket 🙂 just in case…
😂 So relate! I was visiting my friend this past summer and didn't pack my purse or clothes with pockets. We went out for dinner and I put my cards from my riding jacket into her fanny pack. We both joked about forgetting them in there. 2 hours away from her place I stopped for fuel and realized I had forgotten my money! Luckily, I have an efficient bike and $10 in my riding pants. Got home on fumes and she mailed my things back to me. Ended well but really added some thrill to an otherwise dull hwy ride! 😂🏍️❤️ Always stash some cash!
I've been riding since 1973 and never used heated grips. The first 17 years years during the winters too. I also did some cold water sea kayaking and can now feel it in my hands. The used motorcycle I bought in May has heated grips. Maybe I should try them next spring if it's cold enough.
Having dropped my phone taking it out of my ultimate addons case, I never use phone payments now. Cards and change in my pocket. Ideally enough for a fivers worth of fuel. Call me old school. 😂
Oops no money that's me every day lol. Just a quick question do you ever get up over Froggy top, use to go over there in the truck when I drove trucks to get to the back side of Sheffield. If memory serves me right we use to come out somewhere near what was known as the Manor then run down through the tram lines to pick up the Sheffield parkway to the M1
@@RichyVida Not sure. A625 through Froggart then cut through to Totley then somehow cut across to pick up Sheffield park way somewhere near Castlebeck. Mind you we are going back 20 odd years lol
Richy which gloves do you use, the touch on them seem brilliant every pair I have are crap, The Suzi must be due to go back then your back on a real bike, I've been down the track on the Mighty NC750x DCT must go again and record it Brillian Vid as per Norm👍👍👍
I ride this trail regularly and unfortunately for some reason it has been ruined again by having hard packed stone laid down at least for the top half of the trail - really not sure why they would do this?!!
I guess once they “sanitise” a trail, it makes it less desirable for those of us who like to have to out some work in tho ride it. Resulting in a quieter road..
Nice some of the best rights you can have when you not got people trying to bother you while you taking a ride More enjoyable without the phone One little question about the bike you’re on does that bike have a range to empty looking into getting one
Interesting fact; JFK’s sister is buried in Ednsor (pronounced Ensor) just up the road from Chatsworth House. I think she married into the family and died in a plane crash. 🙁
They are amazing Rich, you go out without your phone and feel free, but if needed you can still be contacted ( emergency ) also , as a safety thing, if you have an accident, it detracts your accident, and I mean not only in the bike, but cycling running and so on. Plus they are great trackers 👍😁 Apple ultra 2 mate 👌🏻

Thats what i do !
I've started using cash, as much as I can, again.

Nice video. Thank You so much for turning the engine off 👍

No Sir. Not for a LONG time. I'd prob have to learn how to do it all over again! But, I would definitely welcome it..
@@RichyVida Try it. You never know, you might like biking! 😉😁
Live in Chesterfield, grew up in the Hope Valley, mountain biked down that track but yet to do it on a motorbike!
Always keep a 20 pound note inside of my crash helmet in the rear lining, just in case lol great video again

Oh yes, for sure. Some stunning areas up there! 🙌
I now keep £10 in coins in a pocket because my favourite chippy in Whitby only takes cash!
Just like the good old days!
I have my doubts it will ever open, Beeley villagers are probably happy with less traffic

Thank you for the plug on my dividers rich its much appreciated 😊
De nada, amigo.

You meet the nicest people at Cafe 19 Rich!! Was good to see you buddy and catch up. Thank you👍
Likewise, my friend. Cheers for the cuppa, Dave!

I've not ventured through just incase it's too bad down there. I'll have a nosey a bit further in next time I go. Cheers

Nice little vlog Richy. I need to do that pass. It looks decent 👌 👍
Hi Richy another great video you are blessed for living in Derbyshire beautiful area .
Stunning Dean :-)
you are the master of everything photography, brilliant. 👏
Thanks very kind. I just love it, Scott. Cheers mate

I'm going to make it a think to do it more often. Like you say, as long as there's a couple of quid in your pocket, you're good to go!
Great to see a vid in the peaks. Enjoyed that. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it

Wow you were so lucky there! "imagine if I forget them" D'oh! haha
@RichyVida 😉😂❤️
I've only ever walked down that track, with the kids, I have always had road bikes. I heard the tarmac road is going to cost to much to repair.
Yes I fear the same. Maybe it’ll just stay like it is now.
12:32 I bought those in your recommend and they are great! Only thing is they make the grips much fatter for my little stubby hands.

Smashing video as always fella 👌
Thanks 👍
I’ve been off on that bend on diesel - Landed hard on my arm and was lucky not to break bones.
Oh no, have ya, mate?! All fixed now?
@ yes thanks - We named it Bannister corner and I’m always super careful now 😂
I’ll remember that!
I went back to using a normal wallet, turned off contactless and Apple Pay. Just cash and chip&pin. I spend loads less and more phone free time
interesting!
I’ll be coming to Hooters for the Christmas shindig Richy, please pop me on the guest list 🥳 🎉
Excellent 👌
Cheers Richy that was just great !!! 👍👍👍
Cheers Marc!
That hooligan The Peaky Biker said to wish you a happy 50th buddy...I know your not that old though!!! 🤪👍
Thank you! The cheeky swine!
@RichyVida All i can confirm mate...Is that he'll be 50 before me! 🤣✌️
Love that, “where’s that rattle coming from”….”ah it’s the helmet” Did make me chuckle as I had the same a few weeks ago, spent ages trying to sus it😂
Haha how annoying! 2 Spanish tours, niggling all the time, then figure out it’s just a bloody clip not engaged properly haha

Froggat? No, not been up there. Didn't realise you could? You don't mean Stanage Edge? Sadly can't go up that anymore, either...

Think you’ll find the Suzuki 1050 is quite a capable bike both on road and off… if you have the skill set
I always leave £20 in a plastic bag under the seat.been there away from home no money 😢

hahha "sneak a burger" top man!
Cash is king 👍
Been scrolling through all your videos and was wondering if you have given a full independent review of the Vstrom yet?
Not a full review in one place, as such. I will though
@RichyVida awesome.
Nice some of the best rights you can have when you not got people trying to bother you while you taking a ride
More enjoyable without the phone
One little question about the bike you’re on does that bike have a range to empty looking into getting one
Yes it does. Have a look for my video “I Ran Out Of Fuel”
@ okay cool will do
Good job you did not need any petrol.
I know! No means of paying, no means of calling anyone for rescue! Whoops

*Edensor 👍
I didn’t know that! Cheers
I usually keep a few pounds on me just incase. Useless though when I forget my wallet lol.
Is strange watching/looking where you've been on your screen?
Not exactly “watching”, but good to see if there’s cars behind etc. 👍
Nice one Rich, you tight fecker!😉
I know right ?
Just know that when we meet next, Dave, I will accidentally leave my wallet at home then, too! haha ;-)
@ 🤣🙏
I can't abide a rattle.
Was driving me bonkers in Spain. Bloody helmet clip 🤦♂️
its a nice feeling that leaving the phone i always leave £20 on the bike just incase
Yes, sure is, pal!
What top box do you have ?
Suzuki luggage. I suspect they are identical to the SW-Motech ones. They're really good, too. Sadly, much better than my Honda ones.
@RichyVida Cheers
Richy, I've never got any money lol
So you wondering why you hear a strange noise when you’re driving a Suzuki ? You don’t hear that on a Honda !!! 😂
Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
haha. Ya didn't see the outcome, did you?! Busted!
I did see it but I forgot to take it away..😂
Just use good old cash.
I didn’t have any!
