"Never be nicer to strangers than you are to your husband." Wooow that is good, Lisa. Even after 13 years of marriage, I need that reminder sometimes.

I’m 69 but I still remember how heart wrenching it was when my children each moved out. We work towards that independence for our children from birth but gosh it’s hard when it happens.

I had pre-empty nest syndrome my son’s whole senior year. I knew in advance how very much I was going to miss having him at home but like you I was so excited for him to start his own life. Now he has two sweet little girls that I get to see along with him and his lovely wife so all the pain is worth it!

I raised four kids and bawled my eyes out each time one moved out. I am an empty nester and struggling to find myself again. They occupied my every thought and action and now that is gone. It’s not easy, but they are happy and well adjusted and that is all a parent could ask for. Now is my time to do my own thing, I just need to find out what that thing is. Great video, Lisa

I joined my neighborhood faith group when my kids moved out. They always come back but my faith group helped my mourning period. The kids come back all the time and are only two hours away. It’s not the same of course but they are doing great and always happy to come back home. I also volunteer and making plans for the future to live near a beach. We have to continue to remain optimistic and enjoy life.

When you answered the question about do you have any girlfriends and what do you do, etc., I could TOTALLY relate! I've had many acquaintances, but not a "best friend" girlfriend or anything like that. Throughout my teen years and early adulthood, I tried to make friends, but no one seemed to want to stick around. Thank you SO much for answering that question honestly. It made me realize I'm not alone. My family is everything and that is all that matters! Love you and your videos! Joanne

I totally get how you feel, my oldest is a junior in college and my “baby” is about to be a freshman in high school. I too miss my kids being little. The thought of my kids hugging me around my legs or raising their arms for me to pick them up will instantly bring tears to my eyes. While I thoroughly enjoy the friendship I’ve developed with my children as they’ve matured, it was the time of my life when they were little. I feel like I kind of have to fight a feeling of mourning that time of my life being over. Motherhood is a love like no other. ❤️❤️❤️

I feel the same way! I get so emotional thinking of them little and running to kiss and hug me. You do have to mourn over that time, it was a lovely season of life. I find this time harder to navigate especially going through the pandemic.

Omg I just cried along with you! My son is 2.5 and my daughter is 3 months and it is SO true that the days are long and the years are short. I’m on my last week of maternity leave and will be working from home while taking care of them at the same time and I know it’s going to be hard but I don’t want to miss a single minute with them being little. Your words about being the four of you in the car driving really hit home for me. As hard as it is getting diapers changed, shoes on, jackets on, in car seats, etc., I know I’ll miss it when it’s over!

I love how much you love your womanhood and femininity! I feel the same way, and it’s why I love your channel so much. I love being a woman, I’m naturally very feminine and I love everything about it. And it’s been *MY* experience that I’ve been celebrated for being a feminine woman. I know that isn’t everyone’s experience, I’m not saying anything about that. I’m just saying I love it and I enjoy being a feminine woman and it’s served me well in my own life.

Omg, Lisa I feel your pain! My oldest son left for boot camp yesterday and I haven’t been able to stop crying. I didn’t sleep at all last night. The fact that our house feels so empty without him, his room is empty, the fact that he didn’t have dinner with us last night, and I can’t even contact him for at least the next 9 weeks I have to just have my phone next to me at all times hoping for that one minute phone call he’ll get, because I never know when it’s going to come I’m such a wreck already hoping I don’t miss it somehow. I am a crying mess and my heart just hurts. And you are so right, it’s like we are almost grieving that period of our lives when we had our children all at home with us. I put so much of my life into being a mother, it just feels like a part of me is missing now and it hurts. I didn’t know it was going to be THIS hard on me.😔 Big hugs.💓

    • @goldieadeline1228
      @goldieadeline1228 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

And you know, one more thing I just want to get off my chest somehow. It upsets me that my friends and family are all asking me how I’m doing and I tell them I’m struggling, they are telling me “you knew this was coming. It’s part of life, you have to let them go, blah blah blah” It feels very minimizing to the emotional pain I’m going through right now and I know some of them mean well but it’s just honestly adding insult to injury and I’ve kind of stopped answering some of my texts because I just drew a boundary. But to hear you talk about Brooke leaving I just felt your pain and it just felt validating to me as a mother. Thank you.❤️

I agree wholeheartedly with EVERY word you said about why you LOVE being a woman! I feel exactly the same way. Your emotions always get my emotions going, Lisa. 🖤 My Mother and I were SO CLOSE. I moved back home to take care of her after she got sick. I'm still a young woman and I didn't give a second thought to putting my life on hold for her for years before she died and went to join my Father in heaven. She had always said, one of the hardest times in her life was when I had moved out at 18. I wish strength upon your spirit as you acclimate to this new change without your dear Brooke at home. 🥀

Hi Lisa ☺️ I shared your tears when you spoke of your daughter moving out. Wow.. it’s tough. Our daughter just left to move in with her boyfriend, she’s 24. I cried an ocean. And not because we aren’t happy for her. We are so happy and so proud. We raised a good girl and she is finding her own path now. All their lives ( I have a boy too 21) I have dreaded the moment! Undoubtedly the happiest days of my life was when they were small. But, there are many, many, many happy times to come. Being a grandma is super special ❤️ weddings etc. And I cannot wait! 🥳 you are an inspiration to lots of us women, so thank you for that. In October 2020 I was lying in bed watching Netflix with my daughter, and just like that… my heart stopped. Luckily I live close to a hospital. But it took 10 minutes to revive me which left me severely sight impaired and a brain injury which has affected every aspect of my life. My husband has had to give up work to care for me. Which he is fantastic at. And while I’m incredibly grateful to be here, life is sooooo different now. Anyway, my point being.. nine of us know what is around the corner. So please live every day like it’s your last. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Enjoy the little things. Smell the roses. Keep up the good work Lisa. You really are inspirational and helping women is your calling for sure. Take care, much love from the UK xxxxx

Love your videos Lisa! I cried with you when you talked about Brooke moving out. I'm a stay at home mom to two littles and my oldest starts Kindergarten this year (super emotional about it). Some days are tough, but then I remember the phrase, "The days are long, but the years are short." It always makes me appreciate every good and bad day with my babies, they're mine and my husbands whole world. I adore anytime you speak on being a mom and love when you give advice about it! Because of you I have my mom uniform ready for those school pick-up lines just so I feel somewhat put together! Lots of love to you Lisa! 💖💖

Lisa, there's so much wisdom in what you're saying I can't stop watching your vlogs. I am a 46 year old woman coming from a very dysfunctional family background and lots of trauma experienced both in and out of my family home. I've been trying to surround myself with positive and emotionally healthy people and the past few years has been a "cleansing" process of getting rid of most of the toxic people I surrounded myself with for decades. Having been brought up by parents who convinced me I was worthless I didn't think I deserved better. I've been on the path of healing and learning self worth for a few years now and I continue to heal. Thank you for being so honest and open, you are a true gem and I'm glad I came across your YT channel. Sending lots of love from Poland xxx

Hi Lisa! One of the biggest reasons I started watching your videos is because I resonated with your family values and the close bond you have with your husband and children. When my youngest turned 10, I started to dread them growing up and moving out. I could never understand why one of my friends couldn't wait until her kids moved out. It was so odd to me that she felt that way! Anyway, I teared up watching you talk about that chapter of your life ending because I could relate completely. I cried for 2 days when my daughter went away to college. I had to close her bedroom door because every time I walked past it made me sad even though I knew it was normal for her to go! Thank you for sharing with all of us! Love to you, my friend!! xoxo

Lisa, My son is 23 and at University 5 hours away. He comes and visits and everytime he leaves, I cry like a baby. He brings so much life to the house and I would do anything for him. But it is difficult to let go of that part of yuor life. I was a stay at home Mom too and one can feel a little lost when the kids are gone. My daughter is still at home, going to university here. And I love it !!

I actually love your videos longer the better. To me it’s like chatting with a friend so it just feels natural and appreciate the time you are willing to share.
When my daughter moved out I 100% felt the same way and she was moving close. However what I learned was, yes our old routine was gone, but a new one quickly formed. It’s different but just as special. Their was a time when my husband and I thought only our kids were not getting older.

Oh Lisa!!! I cried! I have three kids, two are in their 20’s and I can’t imagine them leaving, but I know one day they will start their own lives. I feel so similar to you as I was a stay at home mom the entire time, my hubby too worked from home and we never left our kids to travel. They came with us! Lol … my kids and my family are everything too! Thank you for this and you are such a wonderful, sincere , kind woman!! You are rare my dear! 🙌🏻💛 God bless you and your family

tears as you were talking about Brooke moving out. My daughter, 18.5 is launching off to college 2000 miles away from us. we ended up buying her a nice house and are fully furnishing it. This way we get to come and visit ..its also our vacation getaway home. so a win win for us all . This way she feels the comforts of home , we feel like she is safe and has a good base. i know how hard these feelings are. I started watching you when she was 9 yrs old. SAHM mom too, took our kids eveywhere, blessed life beyond imagine. I too wish I could repeat the last 18 yrs blessings

I needed to be in a place with positivity and femininity and love. Thank you. I forget how much I love your videos when too much time goes by and I don't watch. 💜💜

I loved this video! I too am/was a stay at home mom. My daughter is almost 19. My sons are both married at 21 and 24. My husband and I did so much with our kids. Scouts, dance, soccer, water polo, music lessons, show choir, camping, on and on. Those days are done. That chapter is over. The five of us going to the movies and dinner. Dinner each night around our table. The first time my oldest son was not with us on his birthday was so odd for me. I relate so much to your passion for motherhood. Being a mom has been my greatest joy. I am now a grandma and that is so special. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your heart with us! I’m right there with you!❤️ I look forward to us growing old together through TH-cam😉 You are such a bright spot in my week! My husband always asks when I’m watching a video if I’m watching Lisa! He knows how much I love you. We just celebrated 28 years and he is definitely my best friend! Love you Lisa!!

Thank you for this video. These chit chat type of videos are my favorite from you. You give the BEST advice and I just really love your views on things. Absolutely love this ! I don’t have any special vacation or place I’d like to go . I’m just happy being with people I love ! My husband and I are celebrating 29 yrs of marriage this Sunday and he’s truly my best friend. Dealing with my dad having cancer he knows I don’t need a lot of conversation about what’s going on he just puts his arm out hugs me and let’s me cry . He just knows what I need . When my daughter moved out I felt like I was a bad parent that she didn’t want to live with us anymore. Lol ! I helped her carry the last box into the house she would be living in with her roommates and I cried the whole way home . Where did this strong young woman come from ? We did it ! We raised strong young women ! Thank you so much for sharing and it all hits home and brings a smile . Thank you isn’t enough for the joy you bring . Thank you Thank you 🙏
