I thought of this last night, Joyce Meyer has said, "Don't be jealous of someone else if you aren't willing to do what they have done to get where they are."
I was 14 and my husband was 17 when we started dating. We got married when I was 17 and he was 20. He had joined the Army, so we moved to New York, where he was stationed and we were poor! But, we were happy! We grew up together in our marriage and I was lucky to have a wonderful, caring husband. We went through hard times, but we got through it and had 3 wonderful sons and recently a grandson! You’re so right that you have to have the same vision to make the marriage work. This was a great video, Lisa!
Love this! Same here I was 16 when I met my husband we got married when I was 18 we were very poor for a lot of years ! Now we’re self employed for 28 years have two wonderful boys and a wonderful marriage of 37 years! And still going strong 💪 it wasn’t easy in fact very hard at times ! But we’ve always had the same vision for what we wanted and both sides of the family had the same values !
Wish I was younger to go back. I made exact mistakes you did but had kids so tried to hang in there fir them. But when youngest said mom don't be miserable just for me I realized it hurt him more in a fake marriage. Now youngest in college. He would love me find my nice one finally. I think just too old. Later fifties

You hit the nail on the head. It's all relative. Something I've learned is to never compare to others, we all have our own journeys of ups and downs. Some of the most content people I've known are truly happy with who they are, each blessing they have and not comparing their lives to others. Lisa I know you want to please us all, but remember you won't ever please everyone no matter how hard you try. Just try to be content and do what you want...the people that don't like it, well shrug them off because they aren't worth your time. Over the years I've watched you, you've always been such a sweet soul and that shines through and keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, some don't like that and want to try to do all they can to snuff out that sweetness and turn it into something ugly. Keep being you and only please yourself, the right people worth your time will stick around! xo
I made the same mistake as you except I was 32 when I got married and stayed married to the wrong person for a decade. I am stuck with him now because we have a son. Two years divorced and 44 next week, it is so difficult to find a good man. I hope with all my heart the young girls listening will take Lisa's advice to heart. Never ever ever settle! You don't have to!
Hi Lisa, I hope you’re able to see this. I love these types of videos from you. I’m enthralled with you sharing the lessons you have learned along the way. I’m currently 35 years old starting again. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing the not so “good times”. I’m looking forward to more videos like these from you. Hope you’re having a nice day.
My husband of 12 years left me 2 weeks ago. I’m at the crying and anger stage. However, I understand I picked someone who was never on the same page as me. What resonated with me the most was that I must choose qualities first, I can’t fall for someone who is just available to fill this void or fall for someone’s looks before I get in too deep emotionally. I needed this. I will 100% wait now. And if I never find that, so be it. Thanks Lisa ❤️
When I realized I needed to find a man that was marriage material.....I said “I am looking for someone who I would be proud to say is my brother”......that encompasses a lot of requirements......So hard to find!!!
@@whereisleigh that is so true,, my ex husband used to call my brothers “soft”. I asked him why, because they are kind and gentle. That’s what I will look for next ❤️
I’m sorry. I had exactly the same happen to me. Very gut wrenching. I went to work on myself truly living on purpose. Even hired a marriage coach. My ex ultimately still decided to divorce me anyway. Yet I was in a much better place than when he left. He was very remorseful but I quickly moved on afterwards, had fun, and found the perfect guy. I’m remarried.
Lisa I never had a mother to learn from her but for some reason I always feel that by watching and listening to you!! You tach me a lot of things you genuine and very loving with very warm voice and beautiful accent! Thank you for filling some of the void I have!! I am fallowing your makeup tips and fashion picks because I do want to look beautiful like you one day!! Thank you for your video I learned a lot from it ❤️❤️❤️
This type of video is my favorite Lisa thank you for sharing your life and thoughts with us. Oh, and also your weight loss journey is something that I enjoy you inspired me to live a healthier lifestyle ♥️🙏🏻
I love watching your videos for your sense of style for fashion & beauty but this one just might be my all time favorite! I just love how REAL (sincere, honest & truthful) you are about your life. Every female needs to hear this, especially young girls. I think you & John are blessed to have each other! I know your parents must be so proud of you! Thank you for being YOU! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Lisa, I just wanted to say Thank You! This video has truly lifted a weight from my heavy heart after a year of feeling sheer sadness. I am 28, have been separated from my husband around 14 months and in the process of selling our beautiful first home. I am back living with my amazing, supportive parents (who like yours insisted I came home.. even long before we separated). I ended up leaving with a bag and my dog. I pushed so many red flags and feelings aside with the hope that things would get better to the point we went through with getting married. I came to realise after what seemed like forever of trying to work out such a toxic relationship that I was simply not happy anymore. Like you once felt the feeling of embarrassment.. still now I feel totally embarrassed that I am going backwards in life and I’m slowly trying to rebuild my confidence. I feel hopeful watching your video today because I know that better days are coming. I have been a (silent)subscriber of yours for many many years and love watching your videos especially your GRWM's. Your children and husband are blessed to have you. You truly deserve each other and everything you have. Take care xx💕
Lisa~ I am so happy I came across your page. You are so brave to share with the world. I love how authentic you are with your mistakes. We all make mistakes. I’m sure you have helped many people with this video. Your happiness makes me happy. Thank you and enjoy your evening .
Lisa, this is what it boils down to for me; this is YOUR TH-cam channel to do what you want to do with it. Your words were “I want to shop for everyone...I want to show everyone something that would make them happy”. That is EXACTLY what you do, so honestly I go back to what I typically comment on your videos like this; you do what you want to do and if people want to criticize then ignore it. I also love that you choose to be happy. I love how you can demonstrate how you’ve learned and grown from your experiences, whether they might have been negative or positive. Such an inspiration. It’s so incredible that you shared all of that detail of what lead you to move home with your parents...I hope the right people watch your video because so so many people end up down that road and it’s important to hear that you can come back from that.
You are an amazing role model in so many ways. You know pain from your past and give good advice how to get forward. You are an entertaining good communicator. Also as a young woman it is great to hear a mature woman who is not bitter and burnt out like so many women are. Thank you!
This was encouraging! Thank you for helping me to remember to keep working on the things and skills where I am now. Being a person of integrity and who cultivates my interests, while keeping an eye out for the husband that I choose.
So glad you decided to post this video. I can relate to how you grew up when you talk about your parents and grandparents. Love how open you are. Keep doing just what you are doing. Also, loved the weight loss videos.❤️
Lisa, I binge watched some of your videos today and this one spoke to my heart. I'm in my late 30s, going through a divorce, and life has never felt so sad as it does now. This gives me hope beyond anything you could imagine. Thank you!
This was so fantastic-thank you for being so real and authentic. I want to share with all my kids too. Such godly wisdom. Thank you thank you thank you. You definitely spoke from your heart and I thank you.
Life Coach Lisa coming through with some truth bombs today! This message hit so close to home and I’m just grateful that you are courageous enough to use your platform to hopefully help someone make better decisions. The part where you said that the feeling of not owing anyone and it is a long lasting feeling was such a light bulb moment. Thank you! 💜 Ella
I came across this video at the exact right time (in my life)...I am 29 and everything you explained about growing, dating, money and making wrong turns (and plenty of stupid mistakes) is exactly where I am/leaving behind now. Sometimes I feel like realising all these dumb mistakes I have made with money and dating (especially) at this age of 29 is so late, but I try to be nice to myself and remind myself everyone is on a different journey. I also currently do that dumb thing of paying of a credit card....then using it to buy shoes lol. But I am trying to be better. I have dated soooooooo many losers (for lack of a nicer word :) ) and now I am the stage of my life where I would rather be alone than stuck with someone I don't trust/see myself with in the long term. I have realised a lot about myself in the past 2 years (had a kinda epiphany/quarter life crisis when I turned 27) but I STILL feel so lost about parts of my life now!
I am in my early 40’s and divorced and in a dating relationship now. You said so many nuggets that I needed to hear and keep in mind before getting married again. Thanks for making this video❤️.
Well spoken from the heart! This subject is very relatable to me. I will never be ashamed of being dirt poor or financially successful. I’ve learned how to be happy either way. 💜💜
Amen, sister, amen. Don't even hang around men who don't have the same values as you. I had to go through two unhappy marriages and get into my 30s before I figured out that it was okay to want what I wanted and not settle for less. Of course much of that was because of the horrible home in which I grew up. I love that you're trying to get this across to young women today.
The words that stuck out to me were: settling, fitting in , listen to your parents and talking to God; great video. You paid your dues for sure and I’m glad you have happiness now.😀
What a great video. One of your best. I’m 56 yes old, and this is the second time I’ve watched it. Thank you for your transparency and speaking from the heart.
I've been binging all your videos again for days now. I just wanted to say your not old enough to be my mom I'm 36 but I feel like I'm listening to a mom. You give the absolute best advice. And there's just something about you that's so comforting and REAL! I just love these videos so much! I did not have a mother in my life so just listening to all your advice and experience just makes me happy. Keep being you Lisa! You are an incredible person! 🥰
After my divorce I made a short list of qualities I needed in a man. It takes a long hard look at yourself to find out what it is you need. I married that man that fit all my qualifications and we were happy and in love for 25 years until his death last year. Lisa, when you firmly took credit for finding John you were absolutely correct! YOU did that! That's an accomplishment for having done the groundwork.
I love when you do these sit down talking videos you give great advice I just love hearing your life experiences and the lessons you’ve learned along the way thanks Lisa 😊💕
You can talk about ANYTHING and shop ANYWHERE. I love all your videos even if I wouldn't buy every single thing you like/buy. We are all unique and different and I love that. I will never own a pricey handbag and I'm 100% fine with that but I still watch every second of those types of videos. I'm not that self-absorbed that I expect all videos to be FOR ME!! I also enjoy watching you get things YOU LOVE and seeing your joy!! I wish those people would get out of their narrow minded brains! Love you Lisa! Just the way you are!!
Long time sub who never comments. What you said about not pretending truly resonated with me. I was head over heels for a long time with a guy who wanted a real manly man type boyfriend. Sad to say, even though I'm 6 ft5 with a bear belly to boot, I am not even close to manly. It didn't work out because he didn't want me, who I am. Which is really such a blessing... like you were saying it will never work out unless they want you for who you truly are. On top of that, being oved for someone that your not is not really being loved at all, is it?
You’ll never know how much I appreciate these videos and the sage wisdom you share. I’m sharing this with my friend who just left her boyfriend of many years who she loved but knew their lives were going in different directions. You are such a gem!
Lisa really appreciated your candor and listening to your wisdom. My husband and I were so broke at one point our electricity had been shut off. We lived on the 2 nd floor of an apartment building,we took strands of Christmas lights and strung them down the hallway building to get electricity. I remember it like it was yesterday. I think those times makes us stronger and wiser.😘
Hi Lisa. So thoughtful of you to share the wisdom you gained through mistakes you made when you were young. I can identify and wish I could have heard this decades ago. I feel like you have really helped some people. I am so happy that you and John have each other. You deserve your happy life.
I’m 48. I’ve been with the same guy for 21 years this year! It’s not always been easy, we’ve struggled when we were young and just starting out and are blessed that our hard work has us where we are today. You’re 💯 right though we deserve the goodness that we’ve chosen. Life is tough and some lessons are learned the hard way, but they make us better and stronger!
One of your best videos - your 'original' video on this topic really resonated with me 10+years ago. I took the u-turn, retraced my steps and started again both personally and professionally. It was the greatest humbling and empowering moment of my life. I have been with my partner and best friend for the past 5 years and we have transformed both our lives ❤️
Facts!! I do agree with your message. You live and you learn ( hopefully/eventually) When you know better, do better!! I made so many of the exact same bad choices. We have to give ourselves some Grace, self correct and move forward. Thanks Lisa❤️
Lisa, I have been watching you for years. Let me just say, these videos that you do about real topics, resonate with SO many women. Keep doing them, if you are comfortable doing them. You are clearly speaking from the heart and people appreciate that! I’m also so glad to have been following you through your health/weight loss journey. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Great advice! Wish I had not taken so long to figure that out about my first marriage, but I do have 2 wonderful children out of it! I’m older and wiser now and found a great husband the second time around😍🥰
I really loved your "growing out your bangs" metaphor! 💖 Thank you so much for these heartfelt videos! You're truly a beautiful woman inside and out, Lisa! ❤
It's scary how much I can relate to everything you are talking about Lisa. Thank you for your genuine honesty and kindness in the way you deliver messages. It shows a woman of deep character ...I just adore you.
Lisa you were so open and honest in this video. Thank you. You really don’t need to explain yourself to us but I get it ...there’s a lesson to be learnt. Have a wonderful day and just keep doing what you do💕
You are so wise, dear Lisa. I wished I had half your wisdom. The thing is, young people can hear you, they understand, but hope their choices will turn good.
Lisa thank u so much for this share ❤🙏 You are my inspiration 🌻 My story was the other way around... a great job and a perfect husband who unfortunately died when I was just 22 years old. A few years later got married again, had the most beautiful daughter. Lost my job and got divorce when she was 5. All my life as been a struggle and today I am at that point where I don’t answer my phone anymore... but I haven’t lost my faith yet. I belive sun will shine in my path again 🌞
Lisa, thank you for all thouse words ! This means lot to me. Becouse of bad decysion in my past i lost so much, but i still have a hope. You said about God, i hope to find a way to Him too THANK YOU . Joanna
I’m going through these struggles right now at 28 with a guy not headed in my direction. Love truly isn’t all that matters. A lot of things matter, I’ve learned. Thank you for posting this.
It takes a lot to share what you’ve been through. I focused so hard on independence that everyone was surprised when I met and married my husband. I thought I’d be a crazy dog lady my whole life. ❤️
I always pass on these “Dear young girls” advice videos to my friends daughters. You’re so wise and beautiful and sincere. They love listening to you, especially my 16 year old daughter. I thank you for your honesty and love💗 .
Thank you for your video. I agree 100 with some of the feelings you shares, I married at 19 and divorced by 23. So much of what you said resinated with me, I am now 35 and I have learned so much. I too told myself I would ever go back to that place, I finished collage, got me some therapy, and never looked back.
I cannot agree with you more... it ALL is relative. Everything and every situation and every person. You’re sweet as pie and I am finishing this truly listening to you. You’re a good 10-15 years older than me and I truly would take any advice you have to offer. Thank you for all your videos and how you share your life with us. You’re a gem, Lisa! 👏
You are so right. Good old fashioned common sense. We all make mistakes but we learn from them and it sounds like you did .Thanks for sharing! God bless you.
Lisa been there done that!!! Im so happy for You and John❤ Very important to have something in common and the same goals! Thank you for letting all of us get a little understanding of your life. Im sure you have helped other people as well as myself 😊❤
My husband taught me that another’s success does NOT mean you have failed. Enjoy your success, beautiful Lisa. You deserve it. And we all get to benefit 😘
thanks for sharing this. i know it can be difficult to address the things you did in this video. i know all about living beyond your means. i got a chunk of money at 18 and blew it within a year. i'm 21 now, struggling, but going forward i know won't allow myself to make the same mistakes. you're right about relationships. it's not just about the love, marriage is logistics.
Lisa, you work hard. I love watching your content ! Please don’t let people take away YOUR success. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. ❤️
When I met my boyfriend I first was impressed with his work ethic and what he wanted to do with his life. You have no idea how easy it is to fall in love with someone that shares the same dream with you. This is not a compromise is a blessing.
Girl, you are so good at these heart to hearts. You are an old wise soul. I am so glad you mentioned how God helped you direct your life and dating with a purpose. You always have good advice. Thanks for sharing.
I love all your advice videos. I learned a lot of these same things the hard way like you did. Like my first husband not being right for me and the financial mistakes early on in my adult life. And it was worth it all to be in a happy time in life now💖💖💖
I think one of the most important takeaways from this video, is that one cannot fault someone or make someone a bad person because they do not share your individual vision of happiness and fulfillment. Taking accountability for one’s choices, including one’s choices in people, is a massive realization you had. Being informed about one’s partner’s life goals and discovering if both people are in alignment is definitely a necessary precursor to marriage, and most definitely an individual responsibility.
You can be doing well one moment and drowning another. We own a bar and a restaurant and up until a year ago things were looking great. We had to remortgage our house and cash out our retirements in a matter of days to make our payrolls last year. Everyone we know was in a similar situation over night. I do not ever need to buy anything fancy again, I’m just so grateful we’re still standing and have our health.
I think this is one of the best videos you have ever done in my opinion! I know you have been able to enjoy your life with John as a stay at home mom, but sharing with us that you worked different jobs in your first marriage, is very relatable to most of us ( I still work), but I'm glad that you have the blessings you now have!
I want to thank you so much for posting this video. I know sometimes when you are posting videos of things that you have bought it is easy to think of you as someone that has never had it hard. Or someone that has never been broke. And if you have not then you do not know what it is like. And that’s ok, but I just feel like this video made you more real, more relatable, if that makes any sense🤷🏻♀️ it just made me love you that much more!! That you have been on the bottom, and now your on the top🥰 it’s a work hard feel good type video, inspiring, ya know. Like you can do it!! I loved it!!❤️💕💕
Hi, Lisa. I am so grateful that you decided to post this video. It really spoke to me. Sometimes, we never know who will be the messenger who delivers the words of wisdom that we need to hear. Thank you!
You are blessed. Be grateful and give thanks. Some of us live vicariously through you and others who share their lifestyles. Bad times come to all of us. But so do good times. We should always strive for what we want.
I love how you speak from your heart and keep it real! Thank you for sharing your life experiences with us bc no matter the age we all can learn from others experiences. We love you Lisa!
I love this video! I would add to young girls ... Be aware of red flags. Do not be a collector of red flags. You only need one. I had SO many red flags with my first husband... which I ignored. Excessive drinking, not coming home after work lying, cheating. At 23, I was very naive.
This was so therapeutic and I have gone through quite a bit that is similar. It was very comforting hearing your story and how well you’re doing ❤️❤️❤️
This is why I love you, your channel. You know there will always be nay Sayers or trolls who are ungrateful for the advice, recommendations and info that you provide here and that's their loss. Personally I love shopping at Walmart or Target for basics and then splurging on myself on a "luxury item." I relate you you because I'm the exact same way with bags or shoes. I like shopping at Walmart or Target for basics. Don't let anyone make you feel bad keep doing exactly what you want because it's your channel and your time being invested. You don't have the following you have for nothing. I love that I can come to your channel and and it's the best of both worlds. There aren't many channels that combine both the way you do. Don't give up!!
Well said and bravo - great job articulating everything! I think it's wonderful of you sharing your experience to help other young women avoid the pitfalls in life. ♥

The advice on marriage has hit home with me. I know you’re talking to women but I find it to be very sobering.

Thank you!
You are beautiful, and honest, and so entertaining! You speak the simple truth, and you have a great sense of humor. I love you!!!!!
Thank you so much, Denise! 💖 Lisa
Sending you a big hug! ❤️ it’s better to be sad alone and slowly feel better than someone hurting you over and over! 😘
You’re my role model... I love this... Thank you!💖
Amen, sister, amen.
You paid your dues for sure and I’m glad you have happiness now.😀
Thank you, Edie 🥰
Yes!!! Settling. Don't settle for less!👍
Thank you SO much, Marsha!! I can tell you "get it"!! I am so sorry for your loss! 🥰 Lisa
I love when you do these sit down talking videos you give great advice I just love hearing your life experiences and the lessons you’ve learned along the way thanks Lisa 😊💕
Thank you for this powerful testimony.
Gosh these videos of yours are my favorite. Your stories touch my heart. So meaningful. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Hi Lisa....thank you so much for sharing your life lessons... it is so true to know that you don’t owe anyone anything which is so liberating.
Love the videos. I can relate to many struggles. Personally love being 49 confident and don't miss the struggles of young adulthood
Thanks for sharing your story. Love will prevail. You and John are so like minded in your goals and are living your dream together.
Timeless information. Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability. I’m 55 and have been Divorced for 6 years. I’m still heartbroken but hopeful. ❤
Thank you, Sara!! I think that is important, he is out there, but you need a healed open heart to find love! ❤ Lisa
I hope lots of young single girls listened to this. Such wise words! Great video Lisa!❤️
Hi Lisa. So thoughtful of you to share the wisdom you gained through mistakes you made when you were young. I can identify and wish I could have heard this decades ago. I feel like you have really helped some people. I am so happy that you and John have each other. You deserve your happy life.
Thank you, Ginny! 🩷😘😘
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏼🇦🇺🐨
OH thank you so much for this love your videos. i live in the southern hemisphere and you are so relatable
Hey Lisa! When you speak from your heart, the random paths are really pay dirt! xo Diane
Lisa you were so open and honest in this video. Thank you. You really don’t need to explain yourself to us but I get it ...there’s a lesson to be learnt. Have a wonderful day and just keep doing what you do💕
Perfectly said!
Amen Lisa. Well said. 🙏🥰
Thank you💗
You are so wise, dear Lisa. I wished I had half your wisdom. The thing is, young people can hear you, they understand, but hope their choices will turn good.
More women need to discuss money openly. Financial autonomy is the key to choice as a woman.
Great video..Super honest ,caring ,and it's the straight up truth ! I have been with my hubby 28 yrs.
These are my favorite videos, I just love when you tell stories and give advice. Meander all over the place.
I love your heartfelt videos. You really inspire and help so many.
Lisa, thank you for all thouse words ! This means lot to me. Becouse of bad decysion in my past i lost so much, but i still have a hope. You said about God, i hope to find a way to Him too
THANK YOU .
Really appreciate your honesty and your such a beauty inside and out.
I wish we lived near by. I really vibe with your story . blessings too you.thanks for sharing .
Thank you!! 🥰 Lisa
I wish I could heard this message when I was a teen! I know this message will help alot of women especially young women!! Great job!!
I watch most of the videos, but these are my favorite.
Yes same
Same.
Thank you for being you 😌 here on TH-cam! God bless you! 😊
Makes you truly appreciate where you are now ❤️❤️ and to know what true happiness is
Lisa, you work hard.
Hi Lisa - wanted you to know how much I appreciate your candour and admire how self aware you are.
Thank you for be so open. We really appreciate it ❤️
Girl, you are so good at these heart to hearts.
I love hearing your story. Thanks for your honesty and speaking from your heart.
I loved it!!❤️💕💕
I enjoy and do not ever apologize for what I have and what I can afford...I worked HARD to get where I am today.
I love and admire your wisdom. I look forward to your advice videos. 😘 Thank you for sharing.
