I love how you show so many tricks that you can usually only learn on the job from old pros. Very helpful for someone who paints but never worked as a painter. Thanks

I always thought that hot water was a no no as it damages the bristles and the resin in the ferrule. I always go lukewarm water and some washing up liquid. Works a treat .

I rinse mine in water then soak in gasoline for 15 minutes, clean then soak in mineral spirits and clean again. Seems to work the fastest. I like that hot water tip. Thanks

Make sure to use cold water when cleaning your brush at the end of the day; hot water damages synthetic bristles.

What are your thoughts on dipping your new brush in water then shaking it off before you begin painting? My boss had me try it and I found that not only does it clean quicker and easier, but also cuts in smoother. Is this an acceptable technique?

Sounds kinda like a waste of time tbh. But i haven't had to buy a new brush in like 3 years because i take care of the ones i have.

I use coconut oil to clean a brush when staining or using anything oil based. I work coconut oil in the bristles then wipe with paper towel. I'll then clean with soap and water.

Not all brushes are that easy. Especially if left dirty with oil based. An old feller from out East showed me a trick. Clean the brush then soak it in hair conditioner for badly warped brushes. Works great.

On the East Coast I was taught to use furnace oil as a brush cleaner for brushes left dirty and dry with oil based paint. It works great! Kerosene might also work as well.

Iam doing a deck right now with a Cabot stain and sealer. The old guy grabbed my brushes and brought them back all cleaned. Said he used gasoline. First time I saw that one in 30 years of painting. ONE GUY 🤠
