Always been one of my favorite series, ever since the original Iris. My personal favorite is the Dusk trilogy but I love them all... except maybe Firis. It's not bad but just a mess. Newcomers should definitely play Lulua and Ryza 1 or 2, although that will spoil you and make it slightly more difficult to go back and play the older games, especially the time limited ones.

    • @yunogasai1338

I'm actually stuck in rorona plus because of this. The after story content is unbeatable for me because I always run out of time lol. As my first atelier game it will always be special but it's not my favorite when compared to the others. I'm actually stuck in the final dungeon of atelier escha and logy plus too. I'm near the end of totori but a boss monster always kills my party and I want to get the good ending so I'm hoping to finish it soon. It's a good series but the only one I've technically completed the original story for is rorona.

I've enjoyed basically all modern Atelier games (except Nelke) but Escha and Logy is the only game where the story and dialogs have impressed me. I even think that the part in Awin's Sidestory when reaching the edge of the world is the best written scene in the whole series.

    @jclosed2516 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Awesome list. I pretty much agree with it (although I have not played every game yet). The only thing that's holding me back a bit from playing the older games is that time limit. I like to take my time with games doing lots of side quests, and I don't like to be pushed to do things within a certain amount of time and have to drop side quest because I am running out of time.
Anyway - I really got "into" the Atelier games because I picked one up (Rorona) because I was waiting for Trails of Cold Steel II to drop on the PC and wanted to "fill up" some time. To my surprise I was immediately hooked up on these series and now almost own every one that's released on the PC. I really love them because of the (mostly) lighthearted story and nice gameplay. And of course the alchemy!
By the way very nice collab with Ircha Gaming. I like both channels, so it's nice to see both opinions merged.

After that you most times get a appointment, request or side-quest that let you search for specific materials. After (and during) gathering these, I pick up interesting stuff or stuff that's scare while dropping stuff that I already have tons of. That way you do not need hours of collecting materials, and makes things a lot more enjoyable.

Curious to see how this goes. I love the Atelier series, starting with Rorona on PS3.
Only made it through 9 so far, a bit short of making my own top 10.
My personal favorites are Escha & Logy, Totori, and Ryza 1. Weakest for me are Firis, Sophie, and Ayesha.

No Mana Khemia 1&2 here. I can understand that they are not "atelier game name", but these games are so good. Since the PS3 transition I have a lot of difficulties with Atelier games, because it's more about the fan service and less good story/characters. But I would really like to have the Iris Trilogy and Mana Khemia 1&2 on modern platform. Great video. 😁

I just got into the games and started with Rorona. It’s probably not the best one to begin with as a beginner of the franchise, at least that’s what I hear, but I still enjoy it a lot, but I just couldn’t prevent myself from starting to the older available ones I at least can play on PS4. Don’t have a PS2 anymore, so I just started with the oldest of the DX releases I could play. :) I’m curious about every other one too.

Atelier Ryza 2 is easily the best in the entire franchise. Ryza one and Lulua at one point had a case to be labeled the best as well. That only makes my hype for Sophie 2 multiply lol.

Sorry, but I can't agree Ryza being so high. I do think the alchemy is an improvement, but its male characters, battle mechanics and ESPECIALLY THE SOUNDTRACK are all quite pitiful. I can't comment on the other Dusk games. Also, people should note that Ayesha's time limits will ruin your dreams of 100%ing the game.

I didn't play any of the modern Atelier games, but now I want :)
Played the entire Iris series and both Mana Khemias on my PS2 thanks to the friend's recommendation.
All of them are awesome games.
But the only one I managed to actually complete (though I got only Nikki's ending) was Mana Khemia: The Alchemists of Al-Revis.

I found escha and logy to be a little more lenient on the time stuff especially when compared to the Arland trilogy. I'm just stuck in the final dungeon of escha and logy. I need to synthesize better armor lol. I forgot atelier lulua is part of the arland games. Oops. I probably forgot it because it's one of the later games I don't have.

@@cagedhercules5649 I just found it less stressful overall. I'm sorry I can't go into detail as it's been a few years since I've played it. I had a much easier time making deadlines. You also dont have to hire characters for your party ulinke in rorona. I hated spending money just to use them in the party so not having to made it easier to save money for key items and ingredients. Later you get a creature that helps you synthesize items you've already completed so long as you give them treats. I used this to make them create items I used most often or items of better quality that I'd made. It takes a lot of the stress of spending too much time synthesizing certain items repeatedly. It is my favorite atelier game by far. But I've only played Rorona, Totori, a little bit of Ayesha along with ryza, and most of sophie besides escha and logy.
