    For me Cozy games are the type of games where you can progress at your own peace, even if they has combat system, the game doesn't puch you to keep going, keep gaining everything. You can do it at your own peace.

    cosy = comforting, soul food, happy, etc. Murder She Wrote used to be known as "cosy" murder mysteries because they always were resolved and the bad guys were convicted. I think of cosy games being relaxing and something you play to destress.

    I have recently turned 30, and for some time now I've started to love and seek out these "cozy" games, mixed with JRPGs which I had never played. I discovered Atelier Ryza during the eShop sale and I've been obsessed with it and how cozy it feels, it's the game that has sparked my late love for JRPGs, and made me take the jump into getting into the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy.
    EDIT: I've also been looking at Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin lately as a potentially cozy game, and I'll probably give it a try too once I've gone through my backlog of games a bit.

    • @ViolinChick5
      @ViolinChick5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      How interesting that you’ve taken the leap into Xenoblade Chronicles. I have too! I’m 60 hours into the first one and keep thinking how much it’s like the Atelier games. (Minus the complicated synthesis of course.)
      I think you’ll love Sakuna. Definitely a cozy game. Just make aure you have rice on hand irl while playing bc it’ll make you crave it like crazy lmao

    • @Kokorisu
      @Kokorisu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ViolinChick5 I think Ryza just finally made me click with the mindset of playing a JRPG. I played a couple growing up but I just tended to try and blast through the main story and skip most side content, but as I've grown older I just became more keen to take things slow and explore all the content in no rush, I just needed my gateway!

    "Cozy" to me is a game where there is little risk of failing/dying. The game is more about the experience of playing, rather than winning. There can be combat, but it should be easy combat where you are not worrying about your health all the time. A game where you can turn off your brain and just enjoy being a part of it!

    To me a cozy game is a game where you don’t have to stress to get through it. Right now I’m about to finish YS IX and it’s such a fun game. You always know where to go, there are markers to show you where to investigate. You can play it at your own pace. It’s just relaxing to play.

    I prefer watching your “cozy” recommendations. You’re funny and have a stellar personality. I’ve watched other ytuber videos where the person is talking very slowly and bc of that they’re kinda creepy to me. I have to speed up the video, and 9/10 times I end up getting bored of their video and watch other ytubers. It’s nice seeing a real person talk rather than a fake, robot like personality. With that being said, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and stay unique!

    Cozy games are any games that give you those warm and fuzzy, comfortable feelings. Games where you feel content or at home and relaxed. For many, that can mean games like farming/life sims or management games. For others, it's simple mobile games like match 3 games. Or maybe it's games you have nostalgia for; for example, there's no cozier game for me than Final Fantasy VII. Though, for others, turn-based RPGs like FF7 can be super stressful! Cozy is a vague genre because it encompasses so MANY genres, but we all know that cozy feeling when we get it 😊

    For me, cozy games are games that completely take away any stress and/or anxiety, and really any expectations from the player besides enjoying either a good story or very basic movement/collecting/gathering/doing style things. Ideally this means the combat system, if there is one at all, is straightforward (a la pokemon simple your turn my turn turn based stuff, or very simple action combat not requiring certain button order presses or planning). No strategy, no reflex-based timing anywhere, no memory required, just complete turn your brain off mindless entertainment. No pressure to level up this or figure out what stat goes where. I found Ni No Kuni (both 1 and 2) to be stressful to play despite its cozy aesthetics because the combat system was frustrating (aka I failed at both), same with Atelier games, and with the Atelier games the synthesis system requires too much thought/focus/brain power. Dreamlight Valley is another perfect cozy game though, as it hits all the points I felt Animal Crossing missed, plus has that nostalgia factor as I was a 90s kid. I dunno, most games in general these days seem to have moved towards either competitive, reflex-based, or high puzzling/sequencing/memorizing/strategizing/planning/coordinating stuff. I'm currently playing Dragon Age on PC and consider that to be pretty cozy if I'm following a build guide since I can focus on mostly the story itself and roleplaying while the combat and thought-needing-parts are trivialized down to nothing. For me that's ideal coziness. Turn brain off, point, click, move, enjoy a good story or good scenery/world, relax, gg. Edited to add: Visual novels! Those are also my idea of cozy games. I love a good story, I love roleplaying a character and making decisions which impact the story or at the very least the dialogue along the way of the story, etc.

    For me, a cozy game is any game that instills a feeling of well-being, ease, or comfort.
    Some games I personally find cozy:
    All of the games in your list, including Skyrim
    Pokémon series
    Diablo 3 (Maybe not in theme but in the rhythm loop of the game and the fact you set any difficulty you want)
    Cozy Grove
    Spiritfarer
    Stardew Valley
    Dragon Quest Builders 2
    Dragon Quest XI
    Dragon Quest Treasures (can't wait)
    Ooblets

    I see cozy as "you can pick it up casually at any moment and have fun doing anything you want to do with it". I was originally going to say as definition that says there's no combat or dying, but that would exclude Stardew Valley and include Overcooked, which makes me lol. But Stardew Valley you can do whatever you want with it, even avoid the cave combat, and Overcooked you must progress by making the plates...even in the free mode it's not that casual. So my definition fits a little better now.

    Cozy games for me are usually ones that are either short experiences (like 4-6 hours), or experiences that can go on for a loonnnggg time with no real ending. Examples of either are stuff like A Short Hike and The Last Campfire, or Animal Crossing and Story of Seasons. They're feel-good games that don't usually rely on action/combat. @martaanna9185 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't recommend Harvestella on Switch Lite. It is just not optimized for the Lite. Main character many times slide instead of walking. And as Ircha said graphics is blurry. Other thing dialogue options. First kid that you encounter asks you: do you want me to show you were the place is OR will you find it by yourself. I click: by myself. And kid says: I don't have time to show you you need to find it... . And I am wtf? Other scene, one of main characters is telling you "Oh no don't go there, there are bad people there" and suddenly in the next dialogue "Oh no! How can you say it? We need to save them!". But the worst is time management that doesn't let you explore the game,expecially at the beginning "you need to go to bed, you need to go to bed". And tonnes of loading screens. This game just needs 1 more year of polishing.

      Games that usually have a story that is serviceable, and full of puzzles. True Fear, Enigmatis, there are a bunch on the Switch, and are really inexpensive when on sale. They are normally trilogies too.

    I’ve been playing Assassins Creed Origins lately. They offer a historical tour separate from the main part of the game. (Not on Switch.) It’s really cozy to just go into Alexandria and take a historical tour of it, or to the pyramids. It’s amazing the details that went into it, and I greatly appreciate it.

    cozy games for me are ones that are not scary, stressful, or fast-paced in any way. they should have beautiful graphics, pretty music, nature sounds, changing weather.

    The only Atelier Games I played so far we’re the Arland Series, and these weren’t cosy for me 🤣 but I heard the other Atelier games don’t have such a strickt time limit thing. Don’t know how to call it. So maybe it’s different when I play the other games and feel it’s cosy 🤣 but I’d say the story itself is cosy. Just not gameplay wise for me xD

    I consider musou games cozy... Well, until i some jank happens and i lose because the cpu somehow got one shot from across the map before i can react. Walking sims like firewatch or edith finch are cozy. Really anything where i can just sit back and enjoy the game for what it is, instead of trying to hurry up and beat it, or i have to lean forward to really get serious

    I feel like I also consider “brainless” games as cozy. Like the games u don’t really have to think abt in terms of story/battle/mechanics being too complicated. You can just jump in whenever, even after a long time, to play & enjoy. An example would b the Torchlight series lol
