    Quick tip. You can adjust the pressure on this compressor by turning the knurled knob at the bottom of the water trap clockwise or counter-clockwise. I discovered that when I first bought mine.

    • @Baleandor
      @Baleandor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @lonewolf9390

      @@Baleandor It is in the instructions, but it's pretty badly worded. Runs good and pushes paint through an airbrush without it being a jet once it's dialed down to around 20 PSI

      Checked my compressor with high hopes but was dissapointed. My compressor has a spring with a C-clip on the bottom of the water trap that you press up to release the moisture. There's also what looks like a barbed section to attach a small hose to it to drain off the water. No knurled knob on mine unfortunately.

    I have this compressor and I used it and airbrushed for the first time in my life today. I used a iwata neo that I purchased from hobbylobby. I actually bought the airbrush almost w urars ago right after covid lockdown and I bought the compressor I could afford later, hence why I have a somewhat nicer airbrush than what comes with the kit. One thing I would like say is that I noticed that with the neo I had to get relatively close as well in order to get the paint to go on what I was trying to paint. Honestly. I thought I was messing up because it was first time airbrushing. I also noticed some looks like speckling on one of the pieces I was trying to paint. I also noticed that you can try to control the air pressure by turning the fitting at the button of the moisture trap but it makes the compressor running almost continuously. I am wondering if a different water trap with a pressure regulator would make this compressor better to use and if there is a tank I could buy that would work with this compressor or if I should just bite the bullet and buy a better one online.

    Airbrush is like the Vega which is a great little brush. HF brush is very good for the beginner and even for pros in a pinch. As for the compressor, it will hold and stay at desired PSI. It will spray or atomize the paint well, everything depends on type of paint, how it's mixed and compressor PSI. Once you get used to it, it will be one of your go-to brushes.

    I have the same kind from Canadian Tire and I added a pressure regulator. I plan to attach one of those portable air tanks to it so the pressure keeps constant longer. Also, that metal cup is useless because the siphon doesn't reach the bottom of it.

    I've had the same compressor when HFT sold it by itself it's an ok compressor but really needs a regulator to be more useful which they sell the air brushes are marginal at best can be made to work and ok for a beginner to start with but if your serious about the hobby your better off spending the money on a compressor with a tank and regulator and a decent midrange airbrush that will give you many years of service. So I passed on my HFT stuff to a friend so hey could get started in the hobby so that makes it all good.

      White paints does that a lot, its not youre airbrush. I have tried many white paints from different manufacturers like Italeri, Ammo by mig, Tamiya and Ak real colors and they all spray poorly. Thinning them some extra might work but not always. White is so highly pigmented and so is yellow too.

      Try using a bit more thinner with a retarding agent (Mr. Hobby makes some). Also check your needle, thicker mediums usually require a larger needle .3 or .5 should be just fine. Some of these Cheaper brushes might have as low as a 1.8 to .2 needle and that could cause issues. Try spraying that paint at a slightly higher PSI as well.

    I would definitely plumb a tank onto that with a regulator, though siphon feed brushes with .3 or .5 needle are designed to be 28-33 PSI or so, 60 is far too much even for unthinned enamels. Great review and those HF airbrushes are no joke, they really aren't bad after a good few polishing sessions on the needle/nozzle assembly. I would splurge for a Badger 105 or if you like the siphon feed the Patriots Sister the 155 Anthem. Seeing as I can easily airbrush eyes on Warhammer mini's the 105 Patriot I see little need to spend tons on the Iwata name alone.

Make sure you grab the needles for it as each 1 has it's own use. .7 will spray a body in no time flat, the fine detail one is a serious detail dream, though not as good as the Iwata 1.8 needle it's about as close as you can get for $400 less ;)

    It’s the same brush they sell individually. I never really liked it unless I wanted a Matte finish on a color I only had available in gloss, it eats through the paint though because as you saw it spits it out and dries it at the same time.

    • @animalyze7120
      @animalyze7120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not the brushes fault, that's inability to use the paint correctly for it's intended purpose. Siphon feeds need higher pressure to operate and proper thinning with the use of a retarding agent to prevent flash drying on the needle.

    • @Blu3ManiC
      @Blu3ManiC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@animalyze7120 no it’s the brushes fault, it has intake holes on the needle guard which is also why you can’t use it guard less. It will flash dry your paint no matter the ratio.

    Barbatos what do you feel about the harder and steenbeck evelution silverline? For me I think it is wery unpleasent to use and the nozzel always clogs with waterbased paints like Vallejo and Italeri. I think the only paint witch I can use with it is enamels because they will never clog youre nozzel.

      I had trouble using a few different Harder & Steenbeck airbrushes till I got my Evolution. It's the only one of there's I like. And it turns out to be one of my favorites. What other brand airbrush do you use?

      @@barbatosrex9473 I use Gsi creos ps275 and I think its a nice airbrush for all types of paints. Its not hard to learn how to take a part and clean also easy to lube. The evulution is easy but for some reason my nozzel clogs after every use with Vallejo paints. I also thinks backflushing it is hard. I have been thinking about getting a Badger sidewinder or Sotar 20/20 to replace it for detail work. Note that I was using the 0.4 for vallejo but yet it clogged.

    Hey I know this was a year ago but I have this same kit and was trying it out and there is actually a pressure regulating screw on the bottom of the air trap at the front though it might only be some models of this kit. I'm just brand new into this so have been watching all of these videos I can and sharing the info.

    RECOMMEND WRAPPING IT IN A PLASTIC BAG TO SEAL IT OR REMOVE ANY BEARING.HOW DO I KNOW? BROKE BOTTLE AND PAINT ALL OVER THE PLACE.

      the small pump are good for 15psi needs but nothing else. so cake airbrushing needs... but modeling, no. you want something that will do 20-45psi constantly that most of those small pumps won't do.

      If where you live is high humidity then add a 2nd water trap to the air line just before your brush and that problem will go away. It's not this set it's the conditions in your area, quite common actually.
