There has been some confusion around which controller currently work with the DJI Neo drone. In this video I explain the options you have for controllers and show you how to connect the RC2 controller for flying the new DJI Neo. Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions!

This drone has me so excited !! I just kinda wish it didn't sound like 1,000 angry bee's swarming LOL
That's the thing that puts me of lol
@@ianm139honestly the motor sound is awesome when flying looking at your screen it helps you better and will give you less anxiety because when your in a area that’s looks all the same you really have a better idea of where you are and this drone will make you a way better pilot I don’t even enjoy my nig drones sine I got neo
I just ordered the neo today!!!!! Soon there controller too!!! I haven't flown in many years but I been watching you for many many years!!! 👍🏻😃👍🏿🇨🇦🇵🇭🇺🇲
Great news, I'm ordering a Neo today!
Excellent! My DJI Neo arrived yesterday. I look forward to taking it outside this weekend and seeing what I think. I have tried it out in the house. My shepherd does not know what to think about it and is uninterested; however, my Bichon/Poodle is super curious. I had to update the firmware on the Neo and connect it to my iPhone. After the update, I successfully paired it with my RC2 controller. I purchased another controller for the Neo. I already had one with my DJI Air 3. I only purchased the additional controller since when my nephew visits, we can fly simultaneously.
Excellent video! Recently converted from Yuneec to DJI. Very impressed how this company seems customer focused. Unlike how Yuneec left their consumers hanging to go commercial full time. Anyway, bought the Neo… Should be here next week. Waiting to compare the Air 3s vs. Mav 4 for what I need to get the RC2 to ultimately fly both from same controller. Appreciate the video as it answered all my questions. Thx.
Hi Rick, great Neo video about flying with the controller👍👏 I love flying the Neo with the RC 2 screen controller. Fantastic control on the drone. I did some flying in wind, close to objects and over water in my latest Neo dronevideo. I enjoy my Neo very much😀🇳🇱
Just got mine with the RC2. Had a little difficulty hooking to it, but finally got it after syncing to my iPhone first, updating everything, and then connecting to the RC2.
Just curious...what video editing software are you using?
Thanks for your dedication to the hobby!
Well done Ric!; just hope they also produce some low noise props !!!
I'd really like to them include the NC1 as i wouldn't need to carry extra equipment around when flying either my Mini 3 Pro or my Neo. I hope DJI come to the party.
Wow. Great video. Thanks so much!
awesome update. the DJI RC2 is it same as DJI Smart Controller?
Great info Rick..I love when you get a new drone..❤
Me too! Something SO special when I get a chance to check out new tech. Stay tuned as there will be a LOT of new content posting.
Good info. Can I use the Mini 3 controller to fly the Neo?
Thanks for the information !! 😀🤠🇺🇸👍
You bet, I'll have a few more clips posting this weekend
Thanks for the video, good stuff. Quick clarification for everyone: Neo uses occusync when using the controller, and Wifi when using the phone.
Thanks for the post but where did you find that detail? I have the pre-release documentation and have also asked DJI without confirmation. The reason I'm curious is that the tech for the Ocusync connection is expensive and I don't know how they packed it into a drone this small. Also O4 provides 20km of transmission distance and the Neo is limited to 7km. So if it's Ocusync it has to be a modified version to match the distance and cost issues.
The battery limits its distance
I also had an issue when trying to initialize the NEO with my phone and figured out the reason I was not connecting was due to using a VPN on my phone and once I turned that off it connected and updated. Maybe this will help some people trying to protect their info ect.
Good to know, thanks Rick!👌
Nice 1 Rick
Unfortunately, it currently seems impossible to get a functioning RC2. Since a couple of months DJI delivers RC2s with a firmware bug that prevents activation (Server Error: -2). According to DJI support, the only solution is to replace the device. I have been a big fan of DJI but this issue has made me reconsider. Errors happen, but why are devices still being delivered to customers with an issue that's been known for months? That's anything but customer-friendly.
I'm hoping my mini 3 pro RC gets a FW update for the Neo🤞
Pretty sure it's ocusync 4 I've had it out to 1 mile with no problems, could go further but the battery is half at that point
I thought so too but that would be expensive (and big) to fit into the small frame. You're a brave man flying the Neo that far out. It's a slave to the wind and I'd worry about cross-breezes. Thanks for the post!
I'm trying to find out what ECO Mode is . And why they call it Quick Transfer. I can only manually (wifi) download one file at a time from the DREO to my phone.
If dji cared so much about its customers then why don’t they make the Neo compatible with the RC1 and the goggles and controller 2? I have the mini pro 3 and avata 1. They made the avata 2 compatible so I also bought an avata 2 and it flies great with the 2 equipment. So I believe if they wanted to they could make the Neo compatible with the same. No way am I going to spend money on a new controller or goggles just to fly the Neo.
They are now with the latest software updates 😊
RC2 and Avata 2 isn’t compatible this time. And I have a problem with the smartphone compatibility and Google 3. The cable connection didn’t work. I’ll hope they make an Update in the near future future. I don’t know why they need a cable connection in this time. You can realize it with Bluetooth too.
MINES COMING TODAY!!!!!!
Only problem is that after the rc2 is switched off my NEO speaks chinese on its own !
Try yours?❤
I had that problem initially but with the .0300 firmware it seemed to stop. Give that a try and let me know if it helps.
@@Dronevalley update makes no difference still speaks chinese
I have to press the reset button in ABOUT on the rc2 everytime I use the rc2 before shutting down to make NEO speak english next time its used on its own 😍
I hope they have a firmware update to include the older screen controller for the Mavic 3 Classic. I really don't want to buy a new controller.
I will agree and disagree with you about DJI being consumer minded. They were not always that way, and also they milk the consumer for every dollar they can. They release drones that are not yet a finished product, and that is not always due to more time or technology. The Mavic 3 was a ways from being market ready, and the Neo is not yet ready and I suspect the Neo Pro or Neo 2 is ready for production once the Neo sales slow. There will be a better camera, and maybe even side sensors, and other refinements. The future of consumer drones will be smaller and better now that we all spent the big bucks for the Mavic 3 and Mini 4 Pro.
Does it record verticaly?
Nope, it's a purely landscape drone with a single axis gimbal and EIS for stabilization. It's really designed for "selfie" videos mostly.
I'm so happy this drone came out, as well as the mini 4k because they are both less than 400$ When I fell in love with flying drones, I got the mini 2 when i t was brand new,. cost me like 600 or 800 for the fly more combo I think. Flew it for like almost 2 years, then crashed after thousands of flights... couldn't afford another one. I cried for it's loss, and slowly just accepted that I would never be able to own another good dji drone. Now I can !!! because 200-400$ is within my reach, 600-800 or up is not.
Hope they means there’s hope for the Goggles Integra…
I love DJI products. It's too bad there is legislation that is going to shut this company out of the US marketplace thanks for Skydio... Will never buy a skydio product.
