Anyone would’ve seen it coming that tyr is not tyr but is odin…..I KNEW…..I mean just in first night you showed us tyr was with us in sindri’s house in the first night of the game….poor story writing…..plus fenrir in just one of the first dialogues was shocking and great too but….there are no explanations…..where is it?! Everything seems stupid….what were they thinking? I or any die hard fans would’ve wrote far better story than this…..why the big sequels goes like this…..and yes they did let us down…..thay said norse will be wrapped up so why the crap you would let the answer to that who blew the horn kept away from this game?! And kept it for god knows which future game and when that future game will be available?! At first... I'll sadly admit it. I was extremely suspicious of Ratatoskr due to the eye patch. Thinking him being Odin or one of Odin's minions. BOI I was horribly wrong.
It's funny seeing Kratos have a look of confusion the first time they meet Ratatoskr. The man's endured having to battle lots of gods, titans, monsters and other mythical beings; and just when he thought he's seen enough, here comes an eye-patched squirrel just casually patting his head.
Lol I love the little fourth wall break with ratatoskr saying "this seems very uncharacteristic of you" there's no way kratos would just keep throwing the axe at the chime if the player didn't make him. I love how the devs added that little nod towards its absurdity.
Another kind of 4th wall break is when he mentions that the Bitter Kratos and Atreus met is basically a different person from him: Bitter from GoW4 is in fact voiced by Troy Baker.
there are a couple lines like that. In 2018, the realm travel bridge is always pointing towards the Vanaheim tower so the player can go to the mountain, even though they explain at one point that traveling to a different realm should rotate the bridge to point at that realm's tower. Atreus asks why, and Mimir just says "would you rather it didn't? Do you really want to push it every single time?" Also, Sindri has dialogue about seeing the Draupnir spear for the first time when you return to the house after crafting it. If you visit one of his shops before then, he says something like "Oh wait, I'm not supposed to see this yet. i'm just going to pretend this never happened."
People thinking this was Odin in disguise and then we'll get a scene where Ratatoskr will be like: "Yes it was I! My machinations lay undetected for years! For I am a master of deception!"
After all this time, I gotta say I think the character acting at 1:51 is my absolute favorite bit of character acting in the game. Kratos being so flabbergasted by what's happening is just priceless. ProzD did a phenomenal job writing that scene, and I love his voicework.
Bitter is like the Irishman whose nickers got into a twist. Anxious is the serviceman that dropped the ball. Arrogant is the British that doesn't shut up about the good old times Perfectionist is the go getter, and Kratos's favorite. That squirrel has it hard.
So, fun fact: Troy Baker, during his time as Bitter, was SUPER busy with another project, and wasn't available for a lot of the recording process, so... Yeah, I guess that first line really was true: He WAS busy. XD
I absolutely love the dialogue they make just knowing the players will do repetitive, awkward, and annoying shit. My favourite has to be Kratos summoning Hati and Skol in Vanaheim and Kratos saying "I wanted to see the wolves again 🙂".
“Oh, no, I’m so sorry, that chime only responds to the axe, yeah, And people whose balls have dropped” One of the best lines, almost as good as “STOP WITH THE STIPID CHIME”
I love that awkward fumble kratos does at 1:54… its not often he is caught off guard and awkward 😂 12:26 mimir is a Talking Head, hanging from a man that is pale, white, and a God, talking to a large squirrel, who tends a tree that connects the nine realms of existence together…. But find it weird that the tree speaks to the squirrel..
Ratatoskr is one of my fav characters in GoWR. Dapper squirrel juggling emotions, hard not to like. Awesome performance from ProZD. I thought he voiced all the emotions too and was going to say "Wow, he pulls off a nice Pagan Min voice" then found out it's Troy Baker voicing Bitter rip
16:15 actually really love the perfectionist squirrel. Laconia was the capital of Sparta so it is very fitting that kratos likes and talks like the squirrel 🐿️
The way he says he won't outburst, only to scream "STOP WITH THE SHTUPID CHIME!!!" in the most perfect, spittle-slurred angry way possible is too great 😂😭😂😭 Also, I like the way he sits in Atreus' hands 🙂
I like how everyone and everything else in GoW 4/Ragnarok acts shockingly realistic then there’s Rattatoskr who I almost want to say he has some squash and stretch going on
They put a lot of character into Ratatoskr considering he's only mentioned in a single line in the Prose Edda. It seems all he does is go up and down the tree passing along insults between Niidhogr below and an eagle uptop.
The last chat you have with Ratatoskr after completing all his quests is so much funnier than usual with all his personalities interrupting his heartfelt speech to Kratos
A squirrel is slapping the bald head of the fucking god of war, an avenger god that literally bathed in the blood of the entire Greece pantheon and half of the Norse one... And said god of war can't help but to ask himself what the fuck is happening with a face full of incredulity. This scene is pure gold.
Turns out Ratotoskr is the most powerful being ever, even Odin fearing him, able to defeat Kratos instantly, but is just a squirrel. I think it would be a funny optional boss fight, and it should be the hardest boss in the game too.
This isn't Undertale, and he isn't Sans. He'd still beat Sans in a fight tho. Guess they held off on releasing this game til after the Tumblr sexyman contest because Ratatoskr would've swept it instead.
Thor, The giant Serpent, Fenrir and Hel are the most powerful beings in the Norse mythology. Thor because he is most powerful guardian and Champion of Midgard that ( Myth Odin is proud of ) while the Trio of Loki Children can end the world which Odin is honestly afraid of.
I have to point out that the fact of animations being beyond perfect. The smoothness of those movements, soft and elaborate textures, the angles of scenes... just professional work like a high quality Disney animation.
20:57 something about this interaction and Kratos’ response just hits home for some reason. Often times we as people find ourselves thinking about our place in the world and what we should be. At times we change in our perspectives, beliefs or purpose, sometimes we win sometimes we lose, and more often than not we wonder who we really are. But reminding yourself of your own name is more than enough to keep one going as Kratos so eloquently put it.
It's amazing that ProZD is actually the voice actor for Ratatoskr! I didn't even recognize him until I searched up the voice actors, he's one of my favorite TH-camrs and I'm really happy he got a role in one of the most loved series of all time!
I love how the rest of the cast like Kratos and Atreus are clearly motion captured and move more human-like, yet Ratatoskr is animated more cartoony with Squash & Stretch
I've read some mixed stories about Ratatoskr, in one I read that he tends to the Ygdrasil. In another I've read that he sends messages of insults between Jormangandr and Hrealsvelgr. Jormangandr: Thy maternal parent be homosexual Hrealsvelger: nay thee
The ratatoskr from the "real" Mythologie is very different. He is the driving force begind the Dragon and the Eagle hating eachother and destroying the tree because He is basicly shitposting between them 24/7.
I love that squirrel 🐿. He’s fluffy, cultured, well groomed, and rather cute. I bet he would make a great familiar. (Wizard stuff for those who know what I’m talking about)

At first... I'll sadly admit it. I was extremely suspicious of Ratatoskr due to the eye patch. Thinking him being Odin or one of Odin's minions. BOI I was horribly wrong.

It's funny seeing Kratos have a look of confusion the first time they meet Ratatoskr. The man's endured having to battle lots of gods, titans, monsters and other mythical beings; and just when he thought he's seen enough, here comes an eye-patched squirrel just casually patting his head.

Another kind of 4th wall break is when he mentions that the Bitter Kratos and Atreus met is basically a different person from him: Bitter from GoW4 is in fact voiced by Troy Baker.
there are a couple lines like that. In 2018, the realm travel bridge is always pointing towards the Vanaheim tower so the player can go to the mountain, even though they explain at one point that traveling to a different realm should rotate the bridge to point at that realm's tower. Atreus asks why, and Mimir just says "would you rather it didn't? Do you really want to push it every single time?"
Also, Sindri has dialogue about seeing the Draupnir spear for the first time when you return to the house after crafting it. If you visit one of his shops before then, he says something like "Oh wait, I'm not supposed to see this yet. i'm just going to pretend this never happened."
I love it. "Atreus only the Axe will work. Also, your balls haven't dropped." It had me cracking up.

After all this time, I gotta say I think the character acting at 1:51 is my absolute favorite bit of character acting in the game. Kratos being so flabbergasted by what's happening is just priceless. ProzD did a phenomenal job writing that scene, and I love his voicework.

I absolutely love the dialogue they make just knowing the players will do repetitive, awkward, and annoying shit. My favourite has to be Kratos summoning Hati and Skol in Vanaheim and Kratos saying "I wanted to see the wolves again 🙂".

I really love the shift in tone to whimsical music and Disney like cartoony animation for Ratatoskr when hes introduced.

They put a lot of character into Ratatoskr considering he's only mentioned in a single line in the Prose Edda. It seems all he does is go up and down the tree passing along insults between Niidhogr below and an eagle uptop.

A squirrel is slapping the bald head of the fucking god of war, an avenger god that literally bathed in the blood of the entire Greece pantheon and half of the Norse one... And said god of war can't help but to ask himself what the fuck is happening with a face full of incredulity. This scene is pure gold.

Turns out Ratotoskr is the most powerful being ever, even Odin fearing him, able to defeat Kratos instantly, but is just a squirrel. I think it would be a funny optional boss fight, and it should be the hardest boss in the game too.
This isn't Undertale, and he isn't Sans. He'd still beat Sans in a fight tho. Guess they held off on releasing this game til after the Tumblr sexyman contest because Ratatoskr would've swept it instead.

I like the first interacts with Ratatoskr, kratos is just confused on what going on and doesn’t know what to do just makes the situation more funny
I have to point out that the fact of animations being beyond perfect. The smoothness of those movements, soft and elaborate textures, the angles of scenes... just professional work like a high quality Disney animation.
20:57 something about this interaction and Kratos’ response just hits home for some reason. Often times we as people find ourselves thinking about our place in the world and what we should be. At times we change in our perspectives, beliefs or purpose, sometimes we win sometimes we lose, and more often than not we wonder who we really are. But reminding yourself of your own name is more than enough to keep one going as Kratos so eloquently put it.
Atreus's face when Ratatoskr jumps onto him is so cute and hilarious.

It's amazing that ProZD is actually the voice actor for Ratatoskr! I didn't even recognize him until I searched up the voice actors, he's one of my favorite TH-camrs and I'm really happy he got a role in one of the most loved series of all time!

The ratatoskr from the "real" Mythologie is very different. He is the driving force begind the Dragon and the Eagle hating eachother and destroying the tree because He is basicly shitposting between them 24/7.
