In this tutorial i have explained briefly how to calculate the quantity of steel for a two way slab
Before starting the procedure we must know how to identify a two way slab
If the ratio of longer span to the shorter of a slab is less than 2, the slab is considered as a two way slab slab
As i already told you that a one way slab is supported on beams on two opposite sides and the loads are carried along the shorter span
But in case of two way slab the supports are provided along all the dimensions since the loads are carried along both the directions.
I have illustrated this method with the help of an example
and at the end of this lecture i have shown you how to prepare the table for BBS of two way slab.
It should be noted that the spans are to be considered by excluding the width of beam from all the sides.

@5:20 I forgot to deduct the 45degree bends (2x1d= 2x1x8=16) after applying the formula for cutting length of distribution bar.... The cutting length will be 4.66m....total length will be 98m & total weight 38.7Kg or 38Kg..... Please do the calculations accordingly.... Sorry for the error!
You forget one more thing that is D=slab thickness - 2×clear cover -diameter
That's D=150-50-8= 92
But you mentioned there D=150-50-8=84

In Ugandan we use maxpan in slab so I'm appealing to include in your calculations.
Sir Top extra bar in L/4 (main bar at double spacing) in midle part is not mentioned.
Sir in two way slab ,during cutting length of distribution bars the bends are not deducted in calculation please check once and verify the cutting length of distribution bar.
Could you please illustrate how you get the cutting length of bars or indicate a simple pdf sketch? Thanks in advance .

Main bar is shorter bar but you put longer bar
In two way slabs main bars are provided along both the sides.
