      Been saying this for a long time. Might even get me to play again if the rewards are worth the time. I'd say GM Nightfall tier drops for people who make it exceptionally far. Would it be better as a team of 3-6 players, or as a natural instance activity? Fishing showed me people will congregate for little world activities. I think it has potential either way.

      I think the main issue is how easy it is to deal with hordes of low-level or even legend-level ads. The first like, ten or so waves would just get instantly deleted.
      If you threw in assorted objective completion, sort of like Menagerie, plus mechanics for dealing with bonus minibosses to make ammo chests spawn, I think you'd do better.
      That said, an "Extraction"-type game mode sounds interesting.
      I think it could do well as a loot-focusing game mode. And I don't mean weapons or armor, I mean like, choosing ahead of time whether you want Enhancement Cores, Glimmer, ritual engrams, things like that, and depending on how well you do, you'll get a big drop of that type of loot.
      To determine a winner, have ONE Primeval on the map, with a mechanic to determine which team is currently able to damage said Primeval, maybe zone control, and "motes" can act as damage multipliers, so maybe the Primeval spawns with like 95% damage resistance and each mote you deposit lowers it by a certain amount.
      For example, Nessus, the Primeval spawns in Artifact's Edge, and one team spawns in the Cistern and one in the Glade of Echoes(teams should be 6 Guardians).
      The team that currently controls more zones around the map is able to damage the Primeval. You gather motes from minibosses that spawn periodically, or are slowly generated by controlling zones/completing other objectives around the map, and deposit them to lower the bosses damage resistance against your team.
      After a certain amount of time, the Primeval starts wandering the map attempting to shut down zones permanently, preferring to shut down the zones of whichever team has more. So if your team is behind on zone control and the Primeval is making its way to an enemy territory, you're incentivized to actually *escort* the Primeval on its way.
      After shutting down a zone, the Primeval warps back to Artifact's Edge and the players have 30 seconds to leave that zone before being instakilled.
      In the field, you can be revived by teammates as many times as you want at no cost after a delay, but reviving on your own will cost your team an escalating number of motes.
      An alternative win condition is to capture every available point on the map and wipe out the enemy team's mote reserves.

    I can't say I get it as a replacement to Gambit, but this does sound like it could be fun as it's own extra mode. Maybe have Drifter sponsor it, but have it be run by the Vanguard as a sort of exploration/tactical training mode.

      @@archersreign4671 There is definitely not a skill issue, the game mode just sucks and it has since release. More than half of the community agrees its awful, the mechanics are poorly implemented, health gating, and to top it off near constant invasions filling your bosses health bar when your team sucks.

    Tbh it sounds really good my only issues are how you get motes cause we have done public events and lost sectors thousands of times,also the whole go back to orbit time just sounds repulsive and finally rounds not ending ,unless all players are out is a bad idea cause some rounds could be really long.

    This is a really good idea. I think what helps cause Destiny 2 feel stale is the length and difficulty of most activities in the game. The seasonal activities, gambit matches, strikes, crucible games, and a few other things are generally speaking short in duration and fairly low in difficulty. There are also challenging activities, like raids, dungeons, trials, GMs, and master mode events. These can all range in duration. But I feel like Destiny could seriously benefit from a longer-term activity like this that is relatively casual but can amp up super quickly, especially when getting invaded or when a primeval spawns in. Like I said before, Destiny 2 can get stale because while all not activities are the same, they a lot of them generally share similar duration and difficulty, and we don’t have an activity out there like this where there is a casual, laid back feel about it because you can dip in and dip out, but the longer you hold, the more you up the ante and the more tense it gets. And this would also feel really open, Destiny likes to keep content very linear and repetitive, but something like this would flip Destiny on its head. A free roam activity that ramps up in difficulty the longer you stay, but with a chance at getting better loot, almost like a game of survival in Warframe.

      There's no end game for gambit (I think some would say bring back gambit prime but I never played it so idk) , and given that gambit literally has never had any new maps...
      I think the only reason bungie did an update to gambit is to try and see what they could do with it

    Good idea, I’d personally like to see them roll all the past 6 man activities we’ve had into a 6v6 time trial/mini-raid playlist. Banking motes is a tertiary objective for each stage to either allow one invade or champion spawn for the other team to deal with.

    There are plenty of mechanics to make gambit look better. It can also be killing group of adds and a main enemy yellow bar appears gives you buffs then a window to damage the final boss in the beginning. The final half health is simply wizards or current mechanics being implemented. Portal opens for invading everytime the buff is applied and can take the buff with him as invader buffs while the opposing team has one of them as defender buff to counter...

    This sounds like a different game mode, like an alternative public event mode, but I'm totally down for it!!!! Maybe not Neptune, but if they put this in a newer public area with lots of room for the bosses, but enough space to run around and get cover, it would be so cool!!!!
    Maybe they could do a jungle place someday, with several levels in the trees in stuff and an open center area with a giant boss every so often for one of the areas.

    I really like this idea. 1 issue: how would you get the pinnicle? The fact that the matches could go on for hours would make it hard to play this mode 3 times to get the pinnicle. So hould you get it?

    The current gated health bar mixed with the frequency of invasions is the largest issue with gambit. Games take way to long getting the boss down to his shield portion then getting killed by invader bringing the health bar back up and its frustrating

    Have you ever played dark zone in the division? I would love a dark zone style game mode in destiny. It would work like a destiny dark zone. You go to public event spots but instead of the public events we know it's a capture zone you have to hold down From enemy onslaught. Keep in mind there's no red bars in this mode only powerful enemies so yellow and orange bar. Once you hold down the point successfully you have a boss. This boss is kinda tanky but not to much for one person to handle. You get a chest and loot your Engrams but there's a problem they are Siva infected so you have to send them back to the tower to be purged of Siva so this is where the extraction part comes in. You put down a transmat beacon so Holliday can fly over to pick up your goodies you found so you put down a chest full of all of your Engrams. Now it's time to fight like hell because rough guardians can off you and steal everything you have for themselves. You also have to worry about the enemies that also spawn. But once you get all your loot transmat it's yours. There would be multiple exclusive weapon sets,armor sets and exotics for incentive. There would also be the world drops as well but every engram depending on the difficulty of the point you captured would either be powerful 1,2 or 3 and if you really wanted pinnacle but getting multiple pinnacle engrams would be a challenge but in the end significantly rewarding. I call this mode Siva containment zone or Siva containment breach.

    It sounds great. I think the mood would be very fun with these changes, but if it could actually be done as another story. I could see it being done on maybe one of the smaller vaulted planets, but not the EDZ or Nessus.

    Ok hear me out. Teams of 4, you drop into a planet, 1-2teams per large named area (varies depending on size). No sparrows, but there’s added natural travel like launch cannons. There is no more invading. Instead of having your own bank, these are placed at central areas so multiple teams have to fight to get there. Also, the light level and ad density increases every time a player gets fully eliminated. Also, whenever a team get eliminated a named zone at the edge of the map gets blocked off, anyone in it gets joining allies and put in a new location. Other than that, same rules as what you laid out.
    I always walk around patrol zones thinking “dude this would be so much fun as a large scale PvP map” and I think it would be a better way to do PvEvP.

    Speaking objectively, this would do wonders in consolidating a new identity for Gambit that helps it stand out from Crucible and Nightfalls.
    When put together in a in-universe context, this is like Drifter giving Guardians the Dark Age experience, scrounging around for supplies while in that struggle to survive. In the Dark Ages, either the wild and wacky post apocolypse would get you, or other desperate survivors would.
    Plus, it won't be as challenging to make content for, and Gambit could be refreshed as often as every expansion for every overworld added. Pretty great idea!

    I think using motes to purchase invasion should be implemented immediately. But kills as invaders should respawn envoys first then heal the primeval. So if there is one envoy still alive, the first kill while invading would respawn the second envoy, a second would heal the primeval a set amount, the third kill would heal them the same amount again and the 4th would do the same. Also they need to remove the marked damage gating, it should be tied to the opposing team's primeval.

    Imagine having to search an entire planet for an enemy player while invading.
    Id take a variation game mode, but planetwide scope is massive. This just sounds like patrol zones with extra steps

    How to update raids. 1) make exotics a group drop. If one person gets it we all do. 2) re add 12 man raids. If people want a challenge they can do the normal 6 man raid. 3) same as 1. Tired of having jerks get it on my first run and me not getting it even after 50+ runs per character. Haven't even bothered trying the disciple raid as I know I will never get the exotics.

    I can see it, clearing zone to zone, occasional invasions to the other team. Then maybe for a finale it puts both teams on a crash course in a final patrol zone. Then however comes out on top wins it all.

    Wish Bungie had the sense and boldness to try this. It’d make sense, since lore-wise, Drifter usually sets up Gambit in a random, secluded spot on a planet every time.

    I don't mind this idea, but the only issue I personally have with Gambit currently is how much the PvP aspect can swing a match.
    I've lost track of how many matches I've done where my team was significantly ahead, summoning our primeval and they're at 0 deposited due to the drain, only to lose the match because they're better at the PvP part - it's fine for equally matched teams to lose if one is better at the PvP part but to completely carry a match is stupid.
    It should be a PvE race that is slowed down by the PvP aspect, invading to kill those carrying motes, but once the primeval is summoned that's it, no invading.

    I like that, a lot actually. Any time gambit comes up amidst my friends I just say something like "that it should become something along the lines of fire fight or a proper horde mode." But this has more going into it. Granted, I still want to see fire fight or a horde mode in destiny.

    I would like to see something similar to the Coil Activity. 2 teams of 3 racing through their own 3 stage Gauntlets to kill their Prime Evil at the 4th. The end of each stage has a bank where you can deposit motes to make the Prime evil encounter more difficult for the opposing team.

    I'd say instead of leading to matchmaing for invade, two gambit zones are created in the same instance, different locations on the map, so instead of having to go through all of those loading screens, you just get warped to the other end of the map, be the Chad Invader, commit an Ace and get your side of the map all of the loot and none for the losers you basically 1v9'd

    Honestly, it would be a breath of fresh air. I wouldn’t change gambit entirely to this, but this should be a mode hosted by the drifter, and if bungee was smart, which they are not, they would definitely do this.

      1 hour gambit matches, start playing at 6 and finish at 9 to get your +1 pinnacle. We all know bungie would never hand out golf balls that easily, if anything the 15/Max mote option would have like a 20% chance to give a prism.

    I think it’s a good idea but I can see lots of trolling a negligence for teammates or the possibility that you’d be too far. I’d change it to a primeval that has a certain number of phases that is always open you. When it reaches a phase, it teleports all players and respawns to the next area and resets motes. You can just attack it normally or by banking motes you get a damage scaling buff to incentivize finding motes. The invader mechanic would allow you to run around the destination and capture points and capturing all points would restore the primevals HP continuously until all points are recaptured. Idk how viable this would be though

    Increasing the rewards will fix any game mode. Thats what happened with gambit prime but since they didn’t want to delete old gambit it split the population in half. Instead they fixed old gambit up and left it the same. Making it more rewarding but also adding in a gambit effect for those rewards would work. Essentially raise the bottom line of gambit to a lost sector with play list rewards and have a gambit for grandmaster nightfall rewards. With drifter as a vendor changed to the trials and saint 14 structure.

    I like the idea. I dont think gear balance would be any more of an issue then it would already be in Gambit as it is now.
    The issue however would be how to matchmake you with another group(s) because even just to find 8 players can sometimes take a good long time. So it would have to find say 12 to 16 players for a total of 3 to 4 groups to make the large area worth it, or it would have to find groups for you on the fly but then you might get stuck waiting to invade and lose out on time based actions.
    You would have to have some kind of timer. This could be a final boss similar to how it is now but it only spawns after 2 or 3 primes go down, or just a hard timer for like 30 minutes maybe an hour. However, with a hard timer there would still have to be a finish condition that would let you end early. Could be similar to what was mentioned; go in grab what you can and then make it to an extract point to end early.

    It would be cool if they made new maps and integrated dungeon mechanics for each map to summon the primeval. Like have a duality map where you need to go to the nightmare realm for the boss summon.

    What you suggest should just be a separate gamemode, possibly a post lightfall gamemode wherein we get to face dark guardians and that gamemode becomes a wargame.
    Gambit though should be reworked to follow a similar basic formula but with a few major changes.
    firstly, the main goal of the game should still be depositing motes, but with a twist.
    Motes should be deposited into one of three repositories; the traditional bank, the invasion portal and a second bank which I'll detail below.
    depositing in the main bank will progress the team to the end goal, which will be to open a gateway to the ascendant realm to challenge a real big boss with mechanics that would differ between potential bosses to provide a challenging and fun battle.
    the invasion portal instead of opening normally would open when you deposit atleast 5 motes in it, with a max of 20 motes that could be placed, the amount you deposit would effect invasion experience. 5 motes would grant 15 seconds, no overshield and no heavy ammo usage.
    10 motes would grant an overshield
    15 would be the current invasion rules and 20 would extend the timer and cause you to slowly siphon motes as you're present.
    the other bank would be there to send over more powerful foes to slow your opponent, the regular bank would no longer do this, the second bank however would take dark motes rather than light motes, as would the invasion portal, 5-15 would do the usual things, 20 would drop a taken wizard envoy that would shield other blockers and bosses and 25 would drop one of those prophecy dungeon big taken invisible minotaurs.
    this bank could be filled up over time and then a player could choose when to deploy.
    with an overhaul to the motes and banks, the next thing to tweak would be the neutral game and bosses, currently we have a handful of maps and face off against each type of enemy, that is not really an issue but to add to the excitement and to keep up with the current story narrative, enemy groups should be combined, Hive and taken, Fallen and Cabal, Scorn and Taken, Vex and Taken, Hive and Fallen, fallen and scorn etc. with these groups one side would drop light motes and the other dark.
    when you fill your bank fully and journey to the ascendant realm you'd face a Boss based on whichever was the light motes and they'd be supported by dark motes enemies, so if you had Fallen and Scorn you'd face the ascendant realm taken or darkness possessed version of a Big Fallen boss whilst several scorn support him.
    invaders would have the same effect as usual but dark motes would constantly still drop to open portals for either side, a 20 mote portal would heal the enemy boss slowly whilst invader is present, to prevent hiding though there would be little cover in the ascendant realm and that level of invader would be marked.
    lastly, an adept version of Gambit with champions and "illicit" weapons, which would be just a flavour text for adept weapons for gambit would be obtainable if you win, but with the catch being that you actually do need to kill the boss and will have limited revives in the ascendant realm.
    additionally, something that would be nice for both strikes and crucible too, would be a seasonal exotic quest for each to chase, this could be a weapon or armour, but would be something that has benefits in their respective source.

    Imo, to fix gambit there are 2 ways. 1, delete pvp from it, just make it a pve race. 2, make it so the pvp is different, embrace the whole taken thing, make you have to choose a taken weapon, say a stasis bomb, a laser, or like the taken orb from last wish

    Imagine if there was a planet designed to open world PvP where the 3 factions were constantly fighting to claim it, shax would run it but if you ran patrols for the factions with a fireteam or solo in this open world PvP you’d get really good loot depending on the patrols, it’d be amazing id never leave that game mode/ planet

    I once pitched an idea to a friend to have a form of warzone gamemode like in halo 5 if that makes any sense....
    2 teams and each of them get dealt specific factions to be their friends.
    Team A gets Scorn. Team B gets Cabal.
    I think people just don't really like gambit as a whole :'P

    As another comment said, this would be better as a Vanguard operated but Drifter sponsored Playlist/mode. I personally like Gambit my only problem is that if you're a PvE main you get shit on by invaders but if you main PvP you're just bored for the 20% of the match where your portal isn't ready and you can't bully the other team into leaving

    I can get on board with Gambit having it's own planet. Then you could play different activities it. Have Drifter oversee it also. Gambit themed public events, lost sectors, Gambit strikes, Gambit kill bounties (large enemies you have to kill) etc.

    I feel like this is an amazing seasonal activity, but not so much as a new Gambit mode.
    However, some ideas could translate well into Gambit itself. Like a bigger map that slowly shrinks into a darkness zone. How about instead of using Motes as a reward, the more Motes you have, the more time you have to survive/kill the Primeval? And the Primeval has to be like, SUPER buffed and much much stronger.

    Honestly, a better Idea to expand this thought would be the rules for the dark zone. This would take place in cut off sectors restricted by the vanguard where there are no rules including surprise pvp. And in order to keep any loot you gain through mote transfer, you must smuggle it through a dead drop and defend said drop against both strong enemies and any player who follows the public transmat marker.

    If they kept the motes stritctly dropping from envoys or primevils, but doing public events etc charges a bar to spawn said envoys and primevils that could be interesting

    Something that massive feels a bit overkill, imo. I'm not sure what everyone feels is the issue anyway, most conversations I've had end with the other person saying "Well I just don't like it." Which is fine, but there's a big difference between "I don't like it" and "It needs to change."

    Even better. How about something similar to Hunt showdown.
    You have a full map with one primevil hiding away in it but you can find a marker indicating its location by bringing your ghost, same goes for the drifter airship (from beyond light trailer) as an extraction point detectable after defeating the primevil.
    8 players spawn in the map 4vs4 but you cant see them or their location.
    Objective: kill the primevil (Tanky with a big pool of health) and extract.
    Just like pvp competitive mode, each team have a collective 5 revives.
    In the map: there is different enemies roaming between you and the primevil with difficulty rising as you get closer to the boss with the enemies around the boss area being all taken.
    Once the boss is killed he drops “boon of the drifter” which needs to be retrieved and eventually extract with it in order to win the game. But if the enemy team kill you you drop the boon which they can retrieve and If they do and extract successfully they win.
    I think Gambit would be a genuinely intense and an amusing experience if it’s long and rewarding and more tactical and strategic.

    I don’t particularly like the idea of having this mode replace gambit as a whole but having it be a separate mode for destiny 2 still under the gambit section isn’t the worst idea. I think the problem would be that there aren’t actually to many planets that this mode would work for. Nessus and the edz are the only two maps with more than 3 or 4 areas every other map all though it feels big is only devided into 3 or 4 sections (neomuna is yet to be seen but may also work)

    The easiest way to fix gambit is to not reward invasions, incentivise team play, and increase the drop rate of the new weapons people want to chase, IE bottom dollar or the pulse from a few seasons ago, also do away with the 3 games for a pinnacle and make it like OG comp and give incremental power boosts per rank up and pinnacles per every full rank guardian to heroic etc cetera

    I think that this would actually be a cool idea, underneath Gambit ehhh that isn't what Gambit is about way to big of a area, but to basically make patrols feel like what they should be where you can have challenging enemies to fight or Guardians makes the entire area into a epic warzone

    That’s a neat twist, reminds me Almost of a dark souls session with invaders. Tarkov but gambit with dark souls invaders is neat. It would hopefully be a mode alongside gambit.Things that should change are new maps being added, reducing the ammo gain of heavy machine guns from heavy ammo chests and drops to 3, the new lightfall cabal as an enemy faction, and maybe even surprise appearances from tormentors.

    Gambit extraction? Hunt down the motes and extract the primeval so drifter can use it in normal gambit games?
    It’d give the motes a use in powering up the capture device and the guardians would weaken the primeval to be captured

    Nope.
    3 teams.
    Portals open every quarter, of mote farm, but randomly or assigned person spawn into separate area for 1v1v1 rumble match, winner with most kills by the end of timer gets to choose whose team they want to invade.
    But add a mechanics for risk vs reward for how many motes brought into pvp portion. (So for boss phase maby add another wizard spawned for every 5 motes brought into pvp to other teams when shield comes up on prime evil for that round or next round if prime evil hasent hasent been spawned yet.)
    Same as above for boss encounter part, but anyone who has prime evil summond has a chance to prevent invasion.
    (Boss health would have to be increased to accommodate changes)

    there is so many gaping holes in this idea that it would be a bigger shit show than gambit currently, like for instance, why even invade, just get min amount and yeet out, rinse and repeat till your weapon or armor your after is obtained, so it would be gambit prime all over again with win trading for fast games and ez loot.
