Calabaza is winter squash. I use calabaza to make pies also. I’m going to try the butternut squash in the Empanadas this fall. Thank you for the lovely recipe. Love from Texas
I roast my New England (USA) Sugar Pie Pumpkins to make my purées for pies, breads, muffins, cookies, and other goodies. They are sweet and when roasted even sweeter. I always have some purée in the freezer because you never know when you’ll need to bake something. But I’ve never tried the homemade latte! What a grand idea! Might have to whip up a batch tomorrow! What a great treat break while stacking firewood. We so look forward to your videos! ❤❤

Greetings from Maryland! One of my favorite things about the day after Thanksgiving is having a slice of pumpkin pie for breakfast. It is actually delicious cold from the fridge, and as others have noted, is best served with a big dollop of whipped cream!
Love pumpkin recipes, savory or sweet, I don't care, love them all. 😋 I would suggest you bake a big batch of pumpin, puree it, and then freeze it. That's what I like to do. That way you only need to defrost it, and put it in your cakes, muffins, oatmeal or pumpin spice latte. So easy, and it saves time. Love how your recipes came out. 👌😊

Sweet vlog😊. Hobgoblin is a lovely ale. Your pie looked lovely. I tried it in the US and didn't like it, but I love pumpkin cake with pumpkin spice (British mixed spice).. basically carrot cake recipe but substitute carrots with puree pumpkin. I add crystallised ginger in both cakes... I make it and decorate it for Halloween. We love Hokkaido pumkin soup in Autumn 😊. It smells Christmasy because the pumpkin spice is basically mixed spice which we use for Christmas in the UK and Germany 😊.

We would use small orange pumpkins for pie and many people buy the filling already cooked in a can. We call what you used a butternut squash and would serve it as a vegetable for our main meal or make it into squash soup. Love your videos.

Traditionally, Thanksgiving in the US comes from the pilgrims and the native American Indians coming together in 1621 for a meal to celebrate each other's customs. So therefore not celebrated in the rest of the world.
There are three aromas I love about autumn: apples, dried leaves and pumpkin pie spices. I'm already enjoying autumn up here in chilly Vermont. I've got to try that NY Times recipe and the pumpkin spice latte! BTW - A really Christmas-y aroma is minced meat for pie. I use a pinch more cloves, some brandy and candied orange peel and make it a couple of months before Christmas baking. Thank you, Kirsten and Jeorg for another cozy video!

That pumpkin farm was really wonderful, what fun to walk around and find the prefect ones. I have a huge farm just up the rd from me, they have market and corn maze to walk as well. Yes, in the USA we call the big round orange squash pumpkin and the hour-glass one is a Butternut. I just made a Caribbean Pumpkin Soup (beef stew with puréed pumpkin, curry, paprika). I love everything pumpkin! Butternut soup is wonderful.

I didn’t realize that the pumpkin purée we buy in cans was made from the sweet winter squash! It obviously tastes delicious though!

Thanksgiving isn't a European holiday, it just seems to be an American and Canadian celebration
Traditionally, Thanksgiving in the US comes from the pilgrims and the native American Indians coming together in 1621 for a meal to celebrate each other's customs. So therefore not celebrated in the rest of the world.
We Canadians just had our Thanksgiving this past weekend, similar concept as the American one with our indigenous peoples, just a month earlier.

There are three aromas I love about autumn: apples, dried leaves and pumpkin pie spices. I'm already enjoying autumn up here in chilly Vermont. I've got to try that NY Times recipe and the pumpkin spice latte! BTW - A really Christmas-y aroma is minced meat for pie. I use a pinch more cloves, some brandy and candied orange peel and make it a couple of months before Christmas baking.

That pumpkin farm was really wonderful, what fun to walk around and find the prefect ones. I have a huge farm just up the rd from me, they have market and corn maze to walk as well. I've been wanting pie for a week, think I'll have to give this recipe a try, along with the latte. I so enjoy these days spending time in the kitchen with you guys.
Yes, in the USA we call the big round orange squash pumpkin and the hour-glass one is a Butternut. I just made a Caribbean Pumpkin Soup (beef stew with puréed pumpkin, curry, paprika). I love everything pumpkin! Butternut soup is wonderful.
