  • When living in Indianapolis you'll certainly find the good the bad and the ugly. Most large cities will certainly have their good... or things that most people like. They'll also have their bad... or things most people dislike. But, most large cities have some ugly. These are really the things people not only dislike but don't really want to talk about. When living in Indianapolis you'll find all of these. I've lived in Indianapolis since 1997 and I can say it's mostly good but I've seen some bad and ugly as well. If you're thinking of moving to Indianapolis hopefully you'll find this video helpful. Or, if you are living in Indianapolis currently maybe you'll find this video brings more awareness. Or, perhaps we can discuss your opinions. Enjoy!

      That's actually not too far off from what you can find here as well. Especially in super popular areas. We do have single family detached homes that are available in many areas though. What about there?

    I’ve traveled around the world-which means I’ve been in their airports: Beijing, Paris, NY, LA, Chicago, to name just a very few.
    Indy’s airport? BEST. Hands. Down. Affordability. Accessibility.

    Which areas are the unsafe one? I might possibly be working at IU Health University Hospital and am looking for a place. Unfortunately almost every interactive crime map shows the entire surrounding area as unsafe. Are there any safe areas in a 10ish min drive from the hospital? Also which places should I avoid?

  • @afcsport

    What are the concentrated areas of crime around IUPUI to avoid? I will be looking for a small home or apartment to lease this summer in preparation for grad school this fall so definitely hoping to avoid the bad and ugly.

      If you can stay close to campus or at least between campus and downtown that's usually pretty good.

  • @joshjohnson1946
    @joshjohnson1946 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Indy has a really good layout with interstate 465 surrounding it making it easy to navigate. The crime has gotten bad in some areas, but they aren't areas that someone would travel to just on a whim. I prefer the suburbs north of Indy, but I'm not someone to go out much, and I also grew up in the suburbs there. The sports are great, and Indiana has some of the best fans and organizations even if the market is smaller. A huge complaint I've heard is that it's too "boring" here, and I think if that's the biggest issue you have with a city, then it must be pretty good.

    • @sacredfire536
      @sacredfire536 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're tripping it's so fucking annoying trying to get anywhere here.
      On top of that for a city with this many people the fact there are no trains or light rail or even busses that go to the suburbs.
      Indy was ranked like the 31st worst city in the US last year
      A few spots up from Gary.

    What is the rate of Latinos living in Indianapolis? Are they in specific areas? What are those areas where are good places to live? Do we sell Latin food in Indianapolis? Latin supermarket products? .... It is a good idea that you can do a program focused on clarifying those doubts for the Latino community in the United States that you can move to Indianapolis (I'm from Venezuela)

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The Latino population is fairly small. Maybe 3% or so. There aren't really any defined specific areas as being Latino. Although, some areas have a higher percentage than others but not by much. There are certainly Latin supermarkets around town. I have a friend who moved here from Venezuela about 6 years ago and he lives in Fishers where the Latino population is quite low. He's mentioned the lack of Latino culture before.

    What's your motive for trying to move people to Indianapolis?

  • @gavriil4592
    @gavriil4592 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great videos but sometimes it is useful to put things in perspective, for people that are not from IN. Some examples? It is mostly locals that claim Indy is the sports capital of the world (and indy 500 the biggest thing in the racing world? really? does it top formula 1 and MotoGP?). Also, yes, you buy more house for your money, but what do you see when you look outside your window? (In many places the 15 million dollar view obviously costs 15 million dollars, in some places it is cheaper). And yes, the airport is great and so easy to travel from and to, but there is also some detail...how many international flights does it accommodate? (ask a European living in Indy and they'd tell you). Finally, Mass Ave, Fountain Square...don't you think we exaggerate a but about the nightlife there? Sure, it is as good as it gets in midwest but...perspective! OH, AND I DO LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. thank you!

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are grocery stores all over the place. Kroger is the big chain here. But, in addition to that for groceries we have Super Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Fresh Thyme, tons of Farmer's markets, and several other small groceries. It's pretty difficult to find a place in the city or the suburbs where you're more than just a few minutes from a grocery store.

  • @MrAwesomeBrett
    @MrAwesomeBrett 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Haha this was super interesting... I lived in Indy for 26 years and yeah, if you live in Noblesville/Fisher's area it's cruisey and pretty cheap. If you live anywhere downtown it can turn into 8 Mile real quick. I lived on Northern Avenue by the Colliseum and it's an absolute shithole and I was defintely robbed there. I had my house broken into... So, just stay clear of that. If you have money move to Carmel as it's super nice, but know the rest of the State will look at you as some snoody snood. But, in general,Indiana is crazy cheap to live in, in contrast to other major cities or countries (I live in New Zealand now and cost of living is like double what I was paying in Indy). Indy is good if you want a cheaper financial lifestyle but still get the convienences of city life and events and if you're not bothered by shitty weather and shady neighborhoods.
