Awesome!. I used to be a passenger. It's impressive to see how much they have changed with the bodywork. Thanks for the memories and showing some truly skilled teams
@@gordonnelson336 Under FIM regulations, "rider" applies equally to the driver and the passenger on a sidecar. The driver is positioned kneeling in front of the engine with hands near the front wheel, while the passenger moves about the platform at the rear transferring their weight from left to right according to the corner and forward or back to gain traction for the front or rear.
@@gordonnelson336 Nowadays it is common to call the driver the "Pilot", while the passenger has several nicknames: the "Acrobat" used in North America which is no longer in use, and the now common term "Monkey" which originated from Australia. No footie ,no rugby ball in sight but down here in Fish Hoek CapeTown, I'm enjoying watching this formula speedway. Way back at Goodwood show grounds we use to run some stock cars ,and mx bike on an oval dirt track ,go Kiwi great stuff
Вопрос а коляска нахрена нужна с наружи когда второй постоянно внутри весит. Понимаю левый или правый поворот были бы тогда да. 🤦♂️ А так считаю ширины не хватает для опережения. Действительно коляска и второй лишние. 👋👋👋👋
…funny races, so much laughing.. 😁 ..what kind of motor this bikes have..? …maybe four cylinders (we can heard it..?) but how much power.. ? ..100hp or more..🤔👋👌👍😎
certinally more enjoyable then football/soccer! thats so depressingly boring i watched a few minutes once and i would have slit my own wrists if i hadnt of switched it off
Why not counterclockwise!? Normaly at Sidecars the "monkey" aka the gras chopper,- or curbtser. - Is lying (lyes) in the left`s corners,(aka helmet replacement). Aye & Nun, a spedway course (curse) the grevel may hurt way to much, therefore the track movement is clockwise. - To solve this problem they may have to move the sidecar to the right. But then they have to let the track to go counterclockwise. See Pythagorean theorem. - Kidding.
I wonder what it would have been like if the playing field was a little wider and made into an 8 shape. It's not fun because the track is so simple...😅
Didn't even know this fantastic sport existed. Thank you TH-cam, will definitely be giving it another look.
I'm from uk we have this and the grass track version

A passenger? That's what you called yourself. Yeah, okay.

I know and like regular Speedway races, but the sidecar version is wild. lol. Also didnt even knew such things existed. Thanks for the video.
Yes first time i see this!!
They ride here in California, at the Placer Fairgrounds in Auburn! Great fun! Amazing bikes! Heroic riders!

I got to admit the toughest sidecar team I ever seen was a kiwi husband and wife team race at Liverpool speedway
I miss seeing these in Australia I used to love seeing the 1000cc kqacka ducks
Great sound
counter clockwise .... of course
amezing....
greetings from Leszno We got another kind of speedway. I wish you could come here and ride those beasts on our track
@BooREK *Do you mean ZUZEL?* *I love ZUZEL*

Sangat menarik dan menghibur👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Интересно пассажири оплатили за проезд??
Am I missing something as it appears that the first quarter lap determines the winner?
Thats the way it appears to me too
They usually jump out and take the lead and keep it. That's why the first quarter lap determines the winner
I would be there watching if I could. Does anyone know what size 2 stroke engines they use?
They use 4 stroke engines that run on methanol - are you in NZ or overseas? :)
@@proudkiwi328 Sad to say, USA
@@johndelong9230
Engines are usually 4 cylinder, 4 stroke 1000 cc Japanese.
They do this in the USA too, check it out.
Are both rear wheels powered on these bikes or is just the bikes rear wheel???
The bikes consist of three wheels (2 in-line like a motorcycle and 1 out to the side for the sidecar) only the rear wheel is powered, much like a normal motorcycle.
@@proudkiwi328 Thanks very much. That is what I suspected.
Does the guy in the sidecar work his way up to driver or?
Top shelf villains right here.
Nice little track. Though needs chain wire on top of the fence to keep the bikes in!!
At the beginning I thought damn how many are racing together?
I didn't even know🤯 I mean what the hell🤘🏻🤘🏻 is this got to be the coolest thing I've never in my life 🏍🖤🏍 leave it up to those crazy kiwis to come up with something so original and cool
It originated in Australia in 1928.

Me too !!

If i wanted to die i’d just take some pill’s
How do you start this sport
Join a speedway club.
next race other direction hu?
Я сам когда. Был маленький любил гонки
And all 47 spectators enjoyed it too!!!
46. One of those was a tall fire hydrant. They put a hat and glasses on it to inflate their spectator numbers.

Nope, the Spectators are many, they are all on top of the bank in their Trucks and Cars avoiding getting Blinded!

Sooooo, what is the purpose of the sidecar when racing to the right.
Same as every other race - to win!
nz sidecar p21 y like...verry good racing
@Zoltan Nagy *Heyyy Zoly do you like ZUZEL?*
This answered a question for me......
They turn right down under at least with bikes.
It is fucking awesome to see it first time
Alright I have to ask just who is it that gets up in the morning and says "lets go dirt track side car racing"?
Quite a few ,it seems to me.
what do these have in them for a motor?
1000cc road bike engines, usually v twins from the likes of Honda VTR or 4 cylinder from Suzuki GSXR
Sounds like 400cc
Anyone else fond of the movie Little Fauss and Big Halsy? My, how these things have changed!
Родина Берта Монро! 👍👍👍
Fewer passes than a college entrance exam from Chicago high schools.
Rough looking set of guys
Is it just me or are they going the wrong way around the track? Aren’t races “go fast turn left”?
How come they could not race in the rain?
They just had to ease off on the throttle a bit.
No breaks on them and lots of power to get down on the ground on a wet track it would not be good
Dats awesome stuff never seen till now.would have a blast
they put the chair on the wrong side, drive on the wrong side, race the wrong way, do they do anything right?
The sport originated in Australia (a RHD country) in 1928.
The first Australian Speedway Sidecars Championships were held in Melbourne in 1931.
Erik Haskell I don’t understand your comment.
I think he's insinuating that whoever gets off the start line the best wins, as there doesn't seem to be any other passing after the first turn, but he can correct me if I'm wrong
che senso ha girare sempre a destra con un sidecar?
Io lo speedway sidecar l,'ho visto un paio di volte a Lonigo, Vicenza, Italia, bellissimo veramente

Pañoto.
What kind of engine inside ?
in terms of size i think they use 1400cc. certinally no smaller then 1000cc
rocket may be
no country songs about the small race tracks all over America where hero's and winners are made
They should each drag a couple spiked bowling balls on a long chain behind them. That would be really neat.
Интересно понравилось .........
Why are they driving the wrong way?🙃

Why do sidecar racers go the wrong way?
I Love...!
As a Canadian..This is racing.
Hold my beer 🍻
Thanks those were cool
I can taste the dirt just watching.

There's no prize money the winner wins a wheelchair the second has a coffin the third a funeral . .
