Some things are so obvious. The shine in his eyes when he talks about visuals and operating the camera, the smile on his face, its so genuine. He really loves his job. What an great man and an inspiration to many.
Roger is a kid who never gets old. He does it for pure Joy.
Really really love this. He seems like such a great guy.
I love how he comes off as someone you’d see down the pub and could have a fun chat with. But also is able to craft incredible visuals, and just masterpieces on film.
Unlike every other job in the world I feel cinematography is one of the only things that gets better with age. Somewhat like whisky, the older it gets the better.
Well.. I feel digital gets worse with age. Film looks beautiful
Digital get worse with age? Oh sure. And the Fujifilm Eterna simulation is worst than the first digital cameras, and the Arri Alexa sucks compared to some of the early digital cameras... oh common that's total BS Rogers Deakins shoot digital a lot now you're talking form your asses
I wouldn't say "unlike every other job"... on the contrary in fact, like most jobs the more experience you have the better you get. ;)
+Joseph Morales by cinematography I mean the cinematographer's eye man. Digital and film is just the technical aspect but the eye of the cinematographer is the main thing. It can only get better with age and experience. You start seeing better as you age 😊
In my opinion I don't believe it looks better or looks more beautiful I think its the nostalgic that people like.

Jacobnguyen Nothing funny about the atrocious camerawork. If the subject was anyone else I wouldn’t care, but one of the greatest cinematographers in the world? How do they not hire a proper camera person?

I've worked with so many terrible people in this position. Roger seems very well grounded and a fine human. Doesn't seem like he has let the ego overcome him, like so many I have had the displeasure of dealing with.
Wow, I am in the process of learning and had already met so many terrible people in this field. I thought it was just my luck, I am glad to know it wasn’t just me.
i think his wife is the buffer to make sure that doesn't happen. why do you think there are so many morons in that position out of interest?

omg if i Roger Deakins called me out for not operating the camera on this interview I would alt f4 life.
Maybe just give him a microphone next time cause let’s face it when your interviewing roger deacons he’s gonna find something wrong with your camera work.
