David Carradine didn't know kung fu at in the very beginning of this series. He even admits it and later learns it.

Great scene, one I remember with relish as it was so exciting at the time, in the 70s there were no martial arts at all on UK TV so this was an eye-opener.

I can't even humor the situation by finishing watching this video. Dear god this made Captain Kirk's fight scene look epic D:

This is the only martial arts fight I think I could fall asleep watching. Even the Master at the end seems disappointed XD

The "fight" scene is like watching a "gymnastics for toddlers" class, only the "toddlers" are old men.

2:18 looks like someone watched a Judo competition and is trying to emulate it

Kam is the 36th living Grandmaster of Shaolin Kung Fu (Preying Mantis).
The show is based on his life. His skills to this day are beyond comprehension (He's going to be 76 in July.)

@ashemaria 16 No he wasn't Asian at all. And depending on what season this was (the series ran from 1972 - 1975 I'll guess it was '73 he would have been about 37. He was born in 1936

The most fucked up thing about this show was that Bruce Lee pitched the show to the studio who proceeded to steal his idea while considering him too Asian to play an Asian.
“I recall having a meeting with executives of Warner Bros. about David Carradine portraying a Chinese character in Kung Fu. And I remember this vice president said, ‘If we put a yellow man on the tube, audiences would turn the switch off in less than 5 minutes.’ - Mako, The Slanted Screen
    Also CRACKED!

DoctorWeeTodd Bullshit. Bruce Lee never pitched the idea for this show and it was never stolen from him. Ed Spielman created the Kung Fu TV series when he was a writer working in New York City Chinatown in the early 1960's and wrote a 44 page draft called 'Kung Fu: The Way of the Tiger, The Sign of the Dragon,' long before Bruce Lee ever came to Hollywood. Bruce Lee's idea was called The Warrior, but aside from being set in the old west, his concept had no similarities to Kung Fu. The storyline, characters, and the main character's name were all created by Ed Spielman. Morons like you need to check your facts.
