Light clearly did his homework on the matchup after knowing he would be facing Riddles Terry in top 8. Riddles barely got a single meaningful Terry confirm the entire set, Light had some kinda crazy read or download on the matchup. Still, good on riddles for taking longer to rematch after a tough loss, and regain composure.
No one is giving riddles enough credit. Light was clearly playing INSANE and wasn’t dropping a dime of %. Not just this set but the whole tourney. He converted everything and was moving insane etc. and even still riddles kept it close every game while clearly being frustrated and having a hard time playing at his pace. He missed a lot of free damage and even had it game 1 if he did power dunk instead of buster wolf at the ledge. Riddles keeping up with a light playing this hot is insanely impressive

Nah man. Light is in a different league than Riddles. Riddles puts a lot of work into his characters but Light 3-0's him 9/10 times. In this set we saw a lot of failed conversions and panicked recoveries that Light was able to take advantage of.
I think a lot of people assume that since the execution on Terry/Kazuya is hard, the player must be better than they actually are for pulling off kill confirms in a match. When in reality it's just a different and more difficult execution path to taking a stock. Down tilt confirm to power dunk is indeed harder than short hop nair into up smash, but the person whose actually playing neutral/disadvantage/advantage to get those victories has got to be the better player.
Idk what these other people are saying anyone with eyes can see the games were “close” by conventional standards. But as you said light played insane. Which makes it more impressive that riddles kept the games close, I agree.

Fox is a fast falling character and i guess Light DI'ed correctly. Sometimes you have to adjust your combo string depending on your opponent's character.
fox is the only character where it confirms much later because he falls so fast (the faster the faller the higher the percent needs to be when u land dtilt)
Alot of characters can SDI down to get hit with the combo later. SDi down and hold shield. Its not only with fox though.
He literally shielded on the perfect frame, one frame later and he would’ve died

Yeah Fox can run circles around Terry and can punish a lot of Terries tools consistently.
Fox dies early to Terry as we saw in one stock, but Terry struggles to get that stock kill in. His Go is rarely a factor as we saw it only mattered for one stock that entire set since Fox can consistently kill Terry before he could use it much
Yeah Light essentially made all the right adjustments; outspace all of Riddles' movement and aggressive defensive options and play the long game of attrition to make sure Terry dies first before he can 0 to death you.
Yeah not to mention fox has amazing cross ups on shield and safe pokes like his bair dtilt and mixups with nair
Light clearly studied the matchup after he lost to Riddles at Collison. He played around GO meter especially well.

If you've ever fought an FGC character as Fox, you know how much it sucks. Dying hella early. Your optimal range is also their optimal range, but they inherently get more damage from every neutral interaction. One neutral loss, and you're already at kill percent. You saw Light die at 50% to f-tilt buster wolf! Fox needs to outplay Terry at EVERY. TURN. To get a lead and hold onto it. This is the apex of Fox.
Nah fox and the fgcs are even matches. (Maybe terry beats fox by a small margin) fox has amazing aerials and better movement which helps against shotos and terry and especially kazuya.

When in doubt? Cheat your way out comment in game 3 was BS!! Power guieser confirm is not easy on any level. Especially top tier against one of the best players in the world.
Up-tilt>power geyser is incredibly high-value, low-risk, and easy to execute. Maybe the dumbest confirm in the entire game.

7:30 - 7:40 is exactly what all the shotos/fighter do. Just keep on mashing, their attacks will go through the enemies. Then...after being punished for playing the mashing game the game rewards riddles by 7:58 - 8:01 OH MAN RIDDLES SO MUCH SKILL ! I almost died right there, the dude sweats the word skill. Come on now...that's stupid. But I guess this is why he gets far, he is using carry characters after all. They are meant to kill you as soon as you hit 20% just one hit or two and you are done.
