I enjoyed the video... and I feel weird for pointing this out because you look like a skate shop... but there is some incorrect information in here... an 8.25 deck is not necessarily 8.25" at the center and often isn't. It's 8.25" at the widest point which for most popsicle/street decks is right before the nose begins. This is due to taper, which I was very surprised wasn't talked about, as it's probably the 2nd defining factor of a skaters ability to manipulate the board once in the air, short only of overall deck length.
I'm a tall guy with large feet. like size 18.... I feel like I need a big board. Am I wrong for thinking that? I skated when I was younger but I've always felt like the board I had was way small. To be honest when I was young I thought they were all the same size. I want to get back into it and I don't want to get a board that doesn't fit. Got any suggestions? Should I be rocking a 10" board maybe bigger? Thanks for the vid mark!
I'm 5' 7" and have a size 8.5 foot. I used to skate back in the 80s when boards were bigger (around 9" to 10"). I got back into it a couple years ago and started out with size 8. I worked my way up the board sizes from 8 to 8.25 to 8.5 to 8.75 and now to 9. I also got a some shaped decks of different sizes that were larger. I would just say, don't feel pressured to ride a small board. I would definitely get a bigger one if I had size 18 feet. Probably, you want to get a deck with a longer wheelbase also, if you are tall. I'm currently riding a 9" Powell Flight deck with a 15" wheelbase. Flight decks are reinforced with fiberglass also. So, if you weigh a lot, you don't have to worry about snapping them. They're around 100 bucks though. If you are real tall, Powell's JM Duran deck even has a 17" wheelbase. That one is more for freeriding.

Very True. This is more of an introduction to board shapes so we may have glossed over a couple things.

We would definitely recommend at least a 9" wide board. Get in a shop and stand on a couple and pick what feels right.
