Catrin Finch saved my day today, from the darkness, lifted up into the light again, travel light, travel with the light, travel into music and her harp, travel with Catrin Finch.
Full of J.S. Bach life in the playing. Difficult enough on keyboard keys. What little I know about current harp playing, huge undertaking. Cathedrals of sound and music when we pull off J.S. Bach.
Belissima, Catrin! Congratulations Catrin, yours is an exquisitely interpreted and executed performance no matter what era harp you are playing it on!! It would be VERY challenging to play this on an "arpa doppia," (or even more on the triple harp) the chromatic harps of the Baroque. It is so easy to forget the harp was growing to be a very important continuo instrument in the Baroque period which is why the harp had to develop chromatically during that era. And as we know, pieces were borrowed from instrument to instrument, and melodies from composer to composer. These composers lives had incredibly demanding composition schedules! And Bach's genius is made totally evident in this performance!
I have been really impressed by your playing and your vast knowledge of the harp, plus the history of the harp; many thanks for your beautiful playing!
Bach wrote many classics that still wow listeners today. Simplicity is what makes his music popular. Listen to his music after dinner is a national pastime. Bach imitation is also popular no matter where you go. I would put Bach up there with Joseph Hayden and Tchaikovsky as the most popular composers of all ages.
+Simon Mergner The structure of a fugue is that the same melody is repeated, but with increasingly complex interwoven threads created by the different "voices". So even though the listener hears the same melodies or bass-line being repeated, the increasingly dense over-lapping results in a complex, richly textured and inventive work which is anything but simple.
I think I know what you mean: the economy, or concision, of his music is part of its appeal. He wrote for solo instruments as well as for full continuo and orchestral works, yet his clarity of cadence and melody are evident throughout.
Beautifully played! Amazing. Even though I am used to this on the harpsichord - this proves that a gifted musician can choose any instrument and the piece will sound better than a mediocre player pounding away on a period "correct" instrument.
Fantastic music which, although imbued with an indisputable religiosity, can be tasted and appreciated by a person far removed from transcendent and religious premices. The sound architecture here is mainly a therapy for the senses 🎶🎧
Beautiful! Although i can find the cd of Bach's Goldberg Variation by Finch, i can't find this one ( the Italian Concerto). From what cd comes this recording?
Thus saith the Lord: Wherefore He saith, "Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." Ephesians 5: 14 "...Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world." John 1: 29 Christ lives and He loves you!
none thank you for this brilliant evaluation ! You are truly a giant among musicians - even Bach himself must humble himself before your magnitude ! Please honour us poor neophytes with your genius whenever you can take time away from your hectic schedule of raising the dead and turning water into wine.
Arcade Bureau Paca This is YOUR opinion as that was MY opinion. Who is the ayatollah? (and who is smat?).You are free to play Bach as you prefere as I can desagree as I wish.Vive la liberté!
You're right, vive la liberté. But YOUR liberty is not to be able to destroy this beautifull interpretation. Do not say first "It's a crime" say i don't taste this kind of interpretation it would be largely enough. Cordialement
As if JSB had written this for harp ... Listening to this again and again. The sound of perfection.
Catrin Finch saved my day today, from the darkness, lifted up into the light again, travel light, travel with the light, travel into music and her harp, travel with Catrin Finch.
It is hard enough to play this on a keyboard....this is just gorgeous, and I cannot even fathom the technical skill required.
Wonderful! I didn't know such music would be playable on harp
To me, any place where I can listen to Bach on the harp is a heaven. I don't have to look for another.

A joy to listen to, the peace that Bach brings.
She reminds me of a rockstar. Simply amazing! Harp is such a difficult instrument with so many pedals, especially for bach
So, She reminds you of a rockstar, look up her album CF47 and enjoy.

Bach: Italian Concerto. como puede un instrumento ser TAN hermoso!!!! wow!!! XD
I have been really impressed by your playing and your vast knowledge of the harp, plus the history of the harp; many thanks for your beautiful playing!
So beautiful and soothing.
Que pieza tan hermosa y qué mujer tan hermosa, ambas son unas verdaderas obras maestras, me enamoré.
Prefer this to a harpsichord.
This is an instrument that is plucked and yet which has dynamic contrast.
Bravo!
I find the tone of harpsichords to be annoying.
Exquisite. A good day made fabulous by Catrin Finch.

Is music is very complex compared to most other music such as classic music. I think you meant it´s very straight forward.
Simplicity!?? Pardon?

Love it! Great adaptation from keyboard music to harp music.
Gracias por tanto que das con tu música. Saludos
beautifull!! Great performance!!
This brings something the piano does not have and loses something I like in the piano tone and attack. I like them both.
Hermosa interpretación! Congrats!
Magnífico...
someone's been practicing ! Marvelous, absolutely delightful.

Beautifully played!

This is an example of Bach's music that can be played in different instruments one piece.
We are still watching ! year later!

Im without a picture here ...what is this.....
Thus saith the Lord:
Wherefore He saith, "Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
Ephesians 5: 14
"...Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world."
John 1: 29
Christ lives and He loves you!
Cursed g-el SPAM was added to the clip.
I think when played in harp it loses much of the energy this work has when played in a keyboard instrument.
Awful. The ornaments are incorrect, the notes are uneven, no balance, poor tone quality, no understanding of baroque music or Bach.
none thank you for this brilliant evaluation ! You are truly a giant among musicians - even Bach himself must humble himself before your magnitude ! Please honour us poor neophytes with your genius whenever you can take time away from your hectic schedule of raising the dead and turning water into wine.
She's amazing, but I think it's a crime to play Bach on modern instruments, especially on modern harps.
arpadimarco You are the arm of the crime
Arcade Bureau Paca Smart answer...
Yes i am a smart boy playing Bach on a modern instrument. I do hate such ayatollahs like you
Arcade Bureau Paca This is YOUR opinion as that was MY opinion. Who is the ayatollah? (and who is smat?).You are free to play Bach as you prefere as I can desagree as I wish.Vive la liberté!
