Great video Ry. Such a fantastic history on our beautiful ground. Back in the early 90s I did a project for GCSE of redesigning the old Witton Lane stand and was invited to Villa Park by the then stadium manager Ted Small for a tour of the entire ground. What a Man he took my dad and myself all those places you wouldn't normally see on a stadium tour.
As a villa fan who has sat in every stand at villa. Used to be a ST holder in the Holte before work took me away. Lucky to have such a stadium as home. Most family on both sides are Villa. Mom was at the 82 final. Dad grew up by the ground went every game religiously home and away until wasnt possible too.
First went to Villa Park 1961 aged 12. Have now been living in Frankfurt Germany since 1970, and have had season ticket for Eintracht Frankfurt for 50 years. Big fan of both teams.
Another cracking video about Villa, thanks very much! Just on the Holte End - it wasn't designed by Archibald Leitch, it was rebuilt in 1994 after the previous all-standing stand was demolished. I think most, maybe all, of the traditional-style decoration was added in the 2000s when Randy Lerner was our owner. Regardless of who designed it, it does look beautiful! Have a great Christmas!
@RysFootyParadise the Trinity Rd stand was demolished after the Holte End was built. You're right though, it does look great. Glad Doug Ellis didn't skimp on the rebuild! Merry Christmas!
Also, how many other football clubs, in the World, sing at every game played to the honour of all former Supporters; and I am proud to know one day they will also sing to honour me. We are Aston Villa!
Brilliant Video. Ive been a Villa fan since the 60's. My son used to stand on a milk crate in the old Holte so he could see. I was a season ticket holder until we emigrated in 1995. A ground tour is on my bucket list. The stadium really needs expanding, as there are over 20,000 on the season ticket wait list I hear. If & when they do, I hope whatever they build is in keeping with the rest of the ground. Without an expansion, there wont be much chance of an ex pat from Oz getting a ticket. As you point out, its been a long time between drinks for silverware, hopefully Emery will change that, before I cark it.
Villa Park is very nice and as always, a pleasure to see your stadium tour videos, looking forward to seeing the upcoming video from Germany, Go Bochum Go 😀
Huge Villa fan, love the stadium! My dad got me into Villa, when he was a teenager growing up in communist Poland (70s-80s), he used to write letters to English clubs (in broken English) asking for souvenirs as it was almost impossible to get any due to communism/iron curtain etc. The only team that wrote back to him and gifted him a scarf was Aston Villa.
Even thought I've been a supporter of aston villa since 1984. 40 years ago! I've never been in the doug Ellis or new trinity road! Just the old stands. 🎉 Witton lane and trinity road two tier! Go to holte end for yearly pilgrimage every spring! Up the villa!

@@RysFootyParadise Reading? Massive ground and club for League 1 but I suppose the stadium is no different to others of a similar era (Southampton, leicester etc.). Oxford United match could be interesting for a video (warning, if you go in January/February/March bring plenty of layers as it gets very very cold) as it only has 3 sides, but gets too much bad coverage imo! Haven't been for a couple of years now but they have a pretty decent atmosphere with lots of German-ultra-style flags at Kick off!!!
The Holte End, before they demolished the old one and made it all seater, official capacity...28,000. I've been in there when there were far more fans, (Santos, when Pele played). No health and safety, sign of the times then.
It's magnificent it's a shame I couldn't see it at it's peak but it's still a majestic stadium just with some areas that do need renovating namely The North Stand regardless it's known as church in mine and many other people's families I'm sure. It's nickname the red brick palace is truly befitting of it's stature.

First reference to 'Aston Villa' was on a map dated around 1850. Showed a house, at the time surrounded by fields, on the corner of Heathfield Rd and Villa Rd, the building was a childrens home. The four men who formed AVFC were from Wesleyan Chapel Church and met under a lampost on Heathfield Rd. They wanted to form a football ream to play during the winter, as they played cricket in the summer months. The men were Jack Hughes, Frederick Matthews, Walter Price and William Scattergood. As they met on the same road the house wad situated maybe thats why they chose the beautiful name Aston Villa.

As someone that has luckily been to or visited stadiums in different countries in Europe. You definitely should do more countries. Scandinavian ones especially on Matchdays. Most are easy enough to get too and usually have a lot of access
I visited where the Boleyn Ground was last year… absolutely nothing left other than the odd bit of graffiti on the walls to show a football ground once stood ☹️
It's also where Ollie Watkins had his first taste of football at Villa Park whilst he was a youth player for Buckland Athletic. Back in the mid 00s I was part of South West Villa and we used to bring up local football teams in the Torbay area. They would have professional coaching in the stumps centre before watching the game
Ive been going since 1970, stood on the Witton end when it was just a grass bank and rows of concrete steps. Seen Pele, Cruyff play there too. I have a paver outside the Trinity rd stand dedicated to my dad who passed in Jan 98. All my family were, and are Villa fans to this day. Will be interesting to see how the new north stand looks when its done, i hope they incorporate the traditional brickwork design. ❤
Now you know right atleast it's not as bad as confusing us with West Ham like David Cameron did and he's a supporter for one of the clubs no clue which one though lol
I’m a Villa fan actually born and raised in Aston so I probably come across as biased when I say Villa park is one of or if not the best stadium in the premier league
Fulham's Craven Cottage is a lovely ground - it's my favourite. Villa Park is the only away ground that I've watched a game from each of the four sides - one each for the four times I've been there!! All four sides have been redeveloped since I went there in 1975, 1977, 1989 and 1991. My teams' old stadium at Upton Park was a poisoned chalice. When West Ham were winning, it was hell for the visitors - yet if their opponents scored first, you could feel the fans' doom and gloom descend the longer their beloved Hammers were not looking like getting a leveller. The negativity could sometimes act as an advantage to the away team. I'm one of a minority who is mightily pleased West Ham moved in 2016. The matchday experience for me getting to and from the Boleyn during the last 20 seasons there wasn't great. I've been once to the London Stadium and it's very different, but neither in a good or bad way. I live in the West Country now which is a long trek every other week.
Alan Shields Hamilton South Lanarkshire Scotland The Holt End was the inspection for the main stand at Ibrox Stadium, according The Archibald Leitch documentary on Rangers T.V. Inbox Stadium is 125 years old this season the exact date was 2 Saturdays past to the day the stadium was opened the game to celebrate it was agent Dundee.

Such a crying shame Chris Heck put a stop to the beautiful new North stand that was unveiled 2 years ago. It would be half built by now if they had cracked on. The current North Stand ruins the ground
Wasn’t it also to do with Birmingham City Council going bankrupt? I heard we wouldn’t extend our seating capacity and extend the stand if the council couldn’t improve Aston/Witton train station to accommodate the extra traffic and more people for health and safety reasons and now the council are broke it means the plans at Villa Park are on hold

As someone that has luckily been to or visited stadiums in different countries in Europe. You definitely should do more countries. Scandinavian ones especially on Matchdays. Most are easy enough to get too and usually have a lot of access
6:29 I used to love the outside of West Ham‘s Boleyn Ground…. It’s a real shame that one no longer exists…
I visited where the Boleyn Ground was last year… absolutely nothing left other than the odd bit of graffiti on the walls to show a football ground once stood ☹️
Very sad that West ham now play in that souless bowl, Upton Park was unique.
Hi mate. Just watched this. I'm going to take my 10yr old for a tour of the villa ground. Very well done on the video. Great to watch ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
The first building at 1.30 used to be stumps played 5 aside in that in the early 90s.
Snap, loved my 7 a side on a Sunday then a few tots in that dark bar after, happy days them. UTV.
@@stewartcarroll2645 remember meeting John embury, Gladstone small the cricket player in stumps.
@Avfc-m4w great memories from that place, met Vassell in the bar there a few times, some tasty scraps often too.🤣🤣
@stewartcarroll2645 lol good old days showing our age.
Semoga suatu hari nanti aku bisa pergi ke sana juga,, Salam dari Indonesia
Love Villa Park! UTV!
UTFV 💜💙🦁
Ive been going since 1970, stood on the Witton end when it was just a grass bank and rows of concrete steps. Seen Pele, Cruyff play there too. I have a paver outside the Trinity rd stand dedicated to my dad who passed in Jan 98. All my family were, and are Villa fans to this day. Will be interesting to see how the new north stand looks when its done, i hope they incorporate the traditional brickwork design. ❤
The Holte End, and previously the old Trinity Road.
villa park allways remind of that icon Giggs goal in the fa cup repaly v arsenal
My favourite goal of all time 🤩
Now i have watched the video.....now i know who Villa are....i am ashamed to admit that thought they were a london club...great video😊
Now you know right atleast it's not as bad as confusing us with West Ham like David Cameron did and he's a supporter for one of the clubs no clue which one though lol
I'm going to a Goodison Park tour inspired by your great channel. Villa Park next on my list.
Sounds great! Goodison needs to be seen before they move 😊
I’m a Villa fan actually born and raised in Aston so I probably come across as biased when I say Villa park is one of or if not the best stadium in the premier league
Holte all day long!
On the 3rd day, God created The Holte
💜💙
That fish building was an indoor cricket venue called stumps
Before that there was a Victorian pleasure ground called Aston lower grounds but the building is gone
Im at Villa Park tomorrow for the game vs Manchester City
Score prediction?
@@RysFootyParadise I predicted 2-1 Villa before the game to my dad and friends!
Nice stadium 🏟️ me go anton villa before nice local with Manchester city

The Holt End was the inspection for
the main stand at
Ibrox Stadium, according
The Archibald Leitch
documentary on
Rangers T.V.
The Rangers directors at the time had travelled down to Birmingham to have a look at Villa Park to get ideas of how they wasted Ibrox Stadium to look they also looked at
Hampden Park & other grounds before deciding they wanted something simmer but not the same as Villa Park.
Inbox Stadium is
125 years old this season the exact date was 2 Saturdays past to the day the stadium was opened
the game to celebrate it was agent Dundee.
Great to hear mate, would love to experience Ibrox one day 💙
Missed the opportunity to mention the FA Cup was made in Birmingham whilst giving us the history lesson.

Villa park for me
Such a crying shame Chris Heck put a stop to the beautiful new North stand that was unveiled 2 years ago. It would be half built by now if they had cracked on. The current North Stand ruins the ground
Yea but we also got to compete with the big boys and that takes cash and atmosphere to do so losing a stand is a huge loss for that.
I have to make it there in my life. UTV!!!!
