@@Mantosasto Good to see DQ get some love, it's often derided for it's attempt to do something new and embrace change in game design as Final Fantasy had. I'd rank the series personally as 1
3 is my favorite I understand WHY people love 4 but honestly the whole series deserves to be rebooted. You can't tell me a JRPG where you could turn into a dragon wouldn't go over well in modern day with a budget backing it.
Personally I think all they need to do is remaster 3 and 4, but 2 could definitely be remade into a very badass game. Like battle mechanics wise 3 and 4 are way better. But that story in 2 is so good when you compare it to what's happening now in the modern world. It could really be a hit. I should also say that I'm biased because BoF2 was my first proper RPG experience.
I wholeheartedly agree! I love this series, and it is a shame that there is so much rich lore THIS game in particular laid down that is ripe for further exploration. I would love remasters of 1-4 with remakes of the first 2 and some lore easter eggs to 3 and 4.
I was caught off guard when Capcom confirmed Yuna was supposed to be a boss but ran out of development time I really wanted Nina & Cray to fight him Also the ending in the manga is a million times better I won't spoil it
Breath of fire 4 was the Diversion of the Story. wrote themselves into a Hard Ending in Bof 3 with an EASY Sequal with the Return and Finale Death of Deathevn to put a end to the encroaching Desert. but no they didn't give us Deathevn they Didn't Conclude the story they slammed us into alternate universes. I say Fuck off to BOF 4 if you ask me BOF 5 is more Cannon. what they did to Deis was so disrespectful.
I love the Breath of Fire series but really didn't get into it after the series was 'over'. I played BoF 4 on the psx, but never played 3 (still haven't in it's entirety) I ended up getting into SNES emulation and BINGED Breath of Fire 1 and 2 and had such a blast, I replayed the re-releases on GBA. BoF III was hard to find for PSX and PSX emulation was still kind of spotty so I still managed to not play that and played Dragon Quarter. I liked a LOT of things about Dragon quarter but the 'time limit' the game imposed on you really sucked the wind out of the game. Regardless I have been clamoring for a new Breath of Fire game (VI doesn't count IMO)
I PREFER the first 2 the 3rd and 4th ones have those CRAPPY TIMED and REQUIRED mini games I could NEVER reach the 3rd and 4th games FINAL boss since those mini games occur before you even HALF way through the time but for me those 2 timed games are 100% IMPOSSIBLE for me to do I could only complete them IF the timer didn't EXIST.
Unless they reworked the ending, then nope. Playing the game a long time ago on PSX and watching the ending only to see yet another "the villain got the last laugh" trope.
I don't know man, this seems like a be careful what you wish for type of thing. DEI, microtransactions, genre swapping, there is no shortage of game destroyong mistakes that triple A gaming is all but guaranteed to make these days.
It'd be nice, but Capcom dropped traditional JRPGs because of industry trends and the effort it would take competing with bigger ones. They've been known to chase trends, so right off we know it's only coming back as a action RPG. We know turned based still sells given that Persona/Atlus on consoles has pretty much dethroned Final Fantasy/Square-Enix no graphics required lol! One can look at PC or handhelds and see the sales they still receive. If they are set on looking to the West and want to cater to new gamers, the series is going to change entirely for it to come back. I don't think calling characters Ryu and Nina will suffice and may encounter what Final Fantasy is dealing with and present with VII reimagining. We saw the disregard they had when they slapped a mobile game with a numbered entry and essentially killed it. They also will kill a series and bury it if it doesn't guarantee huge sales, thus why they have a handful of IP while sitting on a vault. It's been said that within Capcom developers have been trying to get classic titles or games they worked on in the past to return, but they've only been rejected. From that alone we know it has to do with sales not being assured and entire industry is playing it safe. Wanting Breath of Fire to come back will mean getting the name back on a new game, but likely play like games we already see on the market. I see Itsuno leaving Capcom as a clear sign things have changed at the company as the last big name they had. He's gone on to make his new studio and Mikami was either fired or left to do the same (or do it again after Microsoft killed Tango). I also know they will censor the games worse than they did in the past if we were to just get ports. I think some IP are better where they are as the current gaming industry isn't the same one that made the games possible some of us grew up with.
Which Breath of Fire title is your favourite? Which Capcom title should be revived with remaster/remake?
Dragon Quarter.

@@Kaftan Yeah, that poor game doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. It's really good.
I've never heard of this game series before, But you had me at "singular focus on dragons". Sounds like a winner to me. Lol

Unfortunately, it is so. It might sold a bit better than Kunitsu Gami due to BoF’s Legacy but it wouldn’t perform with modern jrpg franchises.
@arcadenaut It would need Atlus level backing and production to blow up.
But I do believe with the right team it would be possible

3 is god tier.
The music, the vibe, the character growth, the dragon gene system, the master system.
Such a fire JRPG
happy new year
Happy new year to you too! Also, really appreciate your kind support.
I hope they make a remake of BoF4 or at least a new installment of breath of fire. Also please capcom finish the Megaman Legend trilogy.
Capcom has been making their games on the re-engine, I wonder if they will use it to make breath of fire.
