@@X50505 what year? Is it holding well together? We take Range Rover and retrofit them with Land Cruiser motors 2UZ v8 people loves the look and the design of a Land Rover but have problem with motor and transmission so we retrofit them
I think this SUV, the LC and LX, both get a bad wrap on being too large. It has to be about perspective. The host at one point says it's too wide to maneuver in parking spaces. You wouldn't argue that it's a compact but it's packaged quite well. For comparison sake a Honda Pilot is actually an inch wider than the LX and something like a Tahoe is 3 inches wider.
i don’t think he meant it in a bad way tho. i get what you’re saying tho, but i think it could apply to folks who might be interested in it, but not familiar with how large the vehicle is.
The LX570/Toyota Landcruiser are the only vehicle that has a minor recall. Toyota/Lexus has more recall the last three years than any manufacturer even GM has less. This vehicle is one of my favorites
Dave…my thoughts…Just as Melissa was “confused” about the purpose of “Olga” (the Ridgeline)…I too find myself confused about the purpose of this $90K SUV behemoth … seems to have the proper “OFFROAD” goodies (e.g. Hill Descent etc etc) but seems to be trying to be a luxury car and SUV at the same time … .not sure this really works … I’d be afraid to get the leather seats and fine carpeting dirty … strip away the leather and all the electric / electronic gadgets and you still have a heavy “old school” body-on-frame SUV… which is ok … but for $90K ??? (did you see my brow furrow?) …back to my question… maybe I’ve missed this in your reviews … but do you ever plan to do any acceleration tests?... I always like to hear how these vehicles sound in the cabin at WOT. Thanks Keith (what do I drive? An “old school” XTERRA PRO-4X and a “new school” Accord “Sport” Sedan…both good but with very different purposes)…
It's an Overly Luxurious Big SUV. The Land Cruiser is already Luxury and this is a higher quality version of that. The only other true luxury SUV that is as capable as this is the G-Wagon. Those aren't even remotly cheap. Also, as I'm typing this you can get a 2014 LX570 with about 30k miles on it for 45k in 2022. That's a steal. I would rather be at the gas station that at a dealership service department once a month in any other Luxury SUV.
@@devanrogers3133 And as I write this I am excitedly waiting for next week to pick up a new to me 2013 LX570 with only 75kms or 46miles. I looked at a 2019 x5, 2020 RR, Escalade, and ML that cost the same and man do they have some luxury, gadgets, and power over the LX (Land Cruiser same vehicle) by miles in some cases. It only took me one test to decide, and not because Chris Harris and Doug Demuro are both owners and lovers of them, no.. It's "The Door Test". I'll put this next to anything else and have them close their door.. Then close mine and then they can experience the muted deep thud in their guts of the vault door shutting on the LX. If I want toys in a vehicle I'll drive with some Lego in the glove box but for 100% reliability and resale value there is no other vehicle known worldwide that's better than this. In Afghanistan they have car lots filled with only Land Cruisers. Worst "roads" and no road side assistance. You think a driver there is worried more about breaking down at night when there's 7 people in the back and 10 more on the roof with everyones entire belongings including some livestock on the edge of a treacherous unpaved ever changing rocky mountain path while it's snowing and another one of the passengers is about to give birth and you're two days in either direction from the next village if they even have anything to help you with while avoiding bandits..or more worried about massage seats and what colour mood lighting would be best? Check back with me in 15 years and I can drive you to the scrapyard to visit both of them and everything else and then get a line up for resale.
Nice job. What does the "power door on / off" switch do? Located to the right behind the steering wheel? I just purchased a 2013 and I'm trying to figure it out - - I push it in, or out, and have messed w/ the locks and doors and the fob and cannot see a difference. Thank you.
Power door off disables power to the doors, specifically the power rear hatch. If this is in the off position, the rear hatch is now manually operated. Other door chimes, locks, and auto lock functions are changed either in the Menu (on the Nav screen) or through the dealership using the tech tool. Some of the switches that the reviewer said are blocked behind the steering wheel are normally not operated while driving.
I can't wait to see the off-road review of this. When can we see it Dave? Is it possible to see what the off-road capability of it's main competitor, the Infiniti QX80? Thank you.
The LX 570 will be able to handle more technical off road terrain better than the QX80. The KDSS, center differential lock, and A-TRAC, along with strong quality aftermarket support on the LX570 (e.g. shocks, springs, front and rear differential lockers, and bull bar) make the LX570 far superior off road than the QX80.
I think you get a little better fuel economy with the Escalade's 6.2 litre V-8 and get way more passenger room for $9,000 LESS. Although, the Lexus will probably have more desirability after 10 years of ownership. Kind of a toss-up.
Had one... pearl white with black leather. It was awesome BUT ended up trading it in for a Gen 1 Raptor. Why? The LX was a bore to drive. Great review by the way!
@@kosexpress gotcha. So odd… cause with basic maintenance, they run slick. I put 130k before decided to sell it. Ur buddy probably picked up a used one with issues not knowing any better.
Yes, this is an incredibly outstanding vehicle in most ways with bulletproof Toyota reliability and longevity. However, it is *NOT quiet* as the review seems to say. That is completely untrue. I have driven this vehicle EXTENSIVELY (rented one for a couple of days from turo.com). In fact I have been on a mission to find the right Lexus SUV and all of them have been an EXTREME disappointment as far as NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) are concerned. This is a *deal killer* for me! Wind and road noise are well suppressed, but *engine and exhaust* noise are pretty bad for a 95K SUV!! Hit the slightest grades and the engine and exhaust drone noisily inside the cabin (even at a moderate 65 ish mph). My 2000 Lexus LS 400 completely puts this to shame!! Even the 2017 Acura MDX advanced I test drove was a million times quieter at moderate RPMs. The engine/exhaust drone is not nearly as bad as the GX 460, however (and don't get me started on the RX 350. It has the worst exhaust drone ever). It is odd actually. At around 1700 to 2300 RPM the noise is awful and then it appears to get smoother and quieter. So the engine is actually a bit quieter at an 80mph cruise than at around 65mph. Go figure. And the steering requires tons of effort to turn, which is not something you expect in a "ultra luxury" SUV. However the evaluation of the ride is spot on. It is incredibly absorbent and compliant in the COMFORT setting! FYI, I rented and tested the 2016 model not the 2015.
Bruh, don't compare a shitty Dodge to a Lexus. These things last longer than their owners with normal services and that's why its $100K. Go get your broke ass outta here
