Thanks you! It broke on my daughter an hour before she was driving to Homecoming dance, found your video, fixed in 20 mins...lifesaver for my daughter!
this really helped! I did a super quick fix by removing the 3 t20 screws, let the panel come down enough to put my hand in there, felt the broken part, followed it to the locking lever, put the steering wheel into desired position, and locked it in by hand. It works, but have no tilt/telescopic, and it took all of 3 minutes and no back breaking effort.
Brilliant you are a legend thanks for the vid worked exactly as you explained it. I had to lay on my back with legs over seat to see in there. Took about 30mins to do. I also still have up and down adjustment
great video "easy fix" I did the repair, however I noticed the small spring in the parts that were broken. I placed a spring (similar to the one in the video) over the shaft before the cotter pin. Now I have tilt and telescoping features and locks in any position. The car is a 2003 mercedes compressor. It took me about 2 hours, however I am 6 ' tall weigh 185" and retired. ideally someone who is 5'7' or so will have an easier job
Does the column continue lock into place? I’ve attempted the same on mine with a paper clip. Initially the wheel stays in place but after some wriggling it comes loose and the wheel moves again. Not sure if you have any input how to help make it stay in a locked position. Thanks!

You need something stronger then a paper clip....get a cotter pin from a parts store. good luck
Did u have to make the whole where the pin goes or its there already?
no, hole was there.
Thank you very much 🙌🏼
anyone know the part number to replace this piece?
Now is this the power tilt column or no?
Manual
Been looking for this for weeks, And just found out that no one knows how to fix it in my city
Cant remove hood release 😢
