I finally checked this band out 2 days ago... holy hell these women are beasts. I've listened to rock in its many forms my entire life and have had the pleasure of seeing some of the greatest to ever play. Band Maid goes toe to toe with the best of all time and absolutely dumptrucks everyone else. Total class from that backline of Misa, Akane, and Kanami.
Someone said "if you told me a year ago that my favourite rock band would be a bunch of Japanese women in maid costumes, I would have laughed in your face". Yep, me too, and here we are.
The best straight up Rock 'n Roll band I have heard in years. I'm a touch older than most of you (71) so I've heard many bands and Band-Maid ranks with the "Super Groups" of the 80's and 90's. This year when they play LA I going Hell or High Water!! React to Puzzle live and Puzzle acoustic, same song but way different in performance.
Band-Maid is one of the most consistent bands I've ever heard. If you like one of their songs then you'll find at least thirty more that you will like. Band-maid also runs the full spectrum of the rock genre from softer rock ballads all the way up to borderline metal. And most would agree that Band-Maid is best consumed in live format. Reaction recommendations: "Take me higher!!" (Live) and "Don't you tell ME" (Live) - Both of these feature a great guitar battle of sorts between lead guitar and bass. "Reincarnation" - This is probably their hardest song and is borderline metal. "Daydreaming" and "Awkward" (Live) - These are softer, more ballad type songs. "Puzzle" (Live) - My personal favorite Band-Maid song.
This band changed my life. Saw them live in London in 2018 and haven't stopped smiling since...they have so much chemistry on stage, it's like they were meant to play together. There's so much more to see from these ladies. Try Moratorium or Real Existence Live for more examples of their on-stage ability.😁
Welcome to your new favorite band. :-) They have a chemistry that can’t be forced or manufactured. It’s lightning in a bottle. Looking forward to the Band Maid journey!
The best damn hard rock band on the planet today and the ONLY rock n roll band at this level in all of Japan. And yes l know other Japanese bands play rock music. It is not the same thing. Band-Maid has recorded nearly 100 songs to date. They don't do bad songs. They also have at least three other instrumentals among them Go Nuts and Without Holding Back.
Discovered them around Xmas last year. There isnt one song I hav'nt been blown away with, and I bought all their Studio Albums. Nightwish & Band Maid are the best. Enjoy this rabbit hole Mate 🤣
Great reaction! 2 times is better than 1 time lol. Nice to see a fellow Aussie! Try listening to Take Me Higher live. It’s like a distillation of all things “Rock” from 90’s through. And yes, the bass player “Misa” is awesome. They often have bass/lead head to head and it’s always great to watch/listen.
Heavier BandMaid songs are Rinne, Secret my lips, Moratorium, Puzzle, and Non Fiction days (live) They have a nice power ballad called Daydreaming. Lovebites is another band you should check out. All female. Solid power metal. I'd recommend Shadowmaker MV or Break the Wall - Battle in the East live
Band-Maid is appearing at Inkcarceration 2020 on July 11th at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. That festival drew 40,000 last year. The prison was used in the movie The Shawshank Redemption. Band-Maid also is appearing at Knotfest in Japan with Tool, Korn and Babymetal. I saw all for of those acts last October 13th at Aftershock. There are rumors of these four appearing in Mexico this spring. So, let's keep our fingers crossed for a North American tour. Love Band-Maid to death.
@@TexasVeteranPatriot l would also but it would be within the context of a festival with many other acts. Band-Maid typically plays two hour shows as the only act on the bill outside of Japan. Inkcarceration will be their largest audience to date.
There are so many musicians and bands that can shred and play the hell out of their instruments. But Band-Maid not only has the musicianship, they have the songs -- the writing... the compositions... the consistency of creating great material... and the ability to seamlessly cross genres, tempos and dynamics all within one song. And they have a band synergy no other band has. Band-Maid is unique among rock bands for many reasons, but it's the strength of their over 90 songs that really separate them from the rock pile.
Dig Deep! You'll find good, better and best! With all sorts of influences, Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Funk, Punk, Power Pop and Metal. There's nothing they can't do. More BAND-MAID, please, indeed!
Did you know Band Maid just had a song produced by the legendary Tony Visconti? Song is called Dragon Cries. If you like bass check out the Dice intro.
2 for the price of one - sweet. These gals are super talented. Now they've grabbed you by the balls they won't let go. Welcome to Band Maid - they will enchant you. Live reactions are the way to go - Puzzle is my favourite & Moratorium is my favourite and Alone is my favourite - heck I've got 30 favourites, choose any song - you won't be disappointed.
Interesting fact. This video was of only the third time they had played this song live. They played it at Nagoya Diamond Hall on Wednesday, Osaka Namba Hatch that Friday, and this show at Zepp Tokyo the following Wednesday. As luck would have it, I was at the Nagoya show for the debut of Onset.
Your reaction (not the video, your actual reaction) very similar to mine on first listen: I was just a little wiped out by the end of the tune. I still end up shaking my head in disbelief when re, re-re, re-re-re watching!
Some good ones next are Non-Fiction Days and Moratorium both live, as well as their more recent songs Rinne and Blooming. If you want a real throwback, listen to their first video ever Thrill. You'll definitely see them come into their own if you start from the beginning of their discography and head towards their more recent stuff. Great reaction as always!
I know them about 5 Years now ! They are all absolute pro´s !! A 5-string bass instant sledge, a stealth shredder on lead guitar and a re-incarnated John Bonham. Surely a fat meat ryhtm guitar and in a normal song the iron butterfly voice. First get sucked in by the cutesy outfits and then get spit out by the raw power these women deliver.
Fly, swim, whatever it takes, go see them live, there is nothing like it. I'm an old rock fan, saw Purple, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Queen, Jeff Beck, Santana, and a bunch of other legendary bands in their prime (late 70's, early 80's). Band Maid doesn't give an inch to any of them in concert. Change your life.
MISA MISA MISA! MISA MISA MISA MISA MISA nuff said. I'm from Sale Victoria and I traveled to LA (13000+ km) last Sep to see them at 2 Servings at the Echoplex.
I adore Band-Maid! That being said , I can't liken their bassist to Geddy Lee. She is fantastic! She could come close within the next 20 years, and I think that she would agree with me on that. She did take a cool solo and those ladies are incredibly talented! Their hard work is, indeed paying off.
You need to hear "Don't You Tell Me", "Take Me Higher", "Moratorium", Puzzle, Turn Me On, Dice (a nice Bass&drum opening) and Awkward. All of these songs are played Live form the same concert at Zepp in Tokyo. Have fun on your journey mate.
Great reaction great band . Another Japanese all female band is called lovebites they are a power metal band with 2 of the best guitar shredders out tnere some song titles , When Destinies Align, Shadowmaker, Rising, The Crusade to name a few
Great band. I've bought their last 2 albums. I agree that it is always nice to see musicians having fun while playing. That's what it's about! My 5 favorite bassists are Geddy from Rush, Les from Primus, Colin from Porcupine Tree, Victor from Flecktones and MISA. Good company. (Would be a top 10 or 20, but don't want to crowd it.) Speaking of which, if you haven't heard Porcupine Tree, I recommend Hate Song th-cam.com/video/O5nAA_QXBPY/w-d-xo.html I'll give them a shout-out (and let the Band-Maid fans recommend more of their songs), since now that Neil of Rush has passed, I think Gavin from PT is probably the best all-around drummer alive and he gets to go off in this song. The best band most people haven't heard of.
They have a superb vocalist too. Excellent Rock band, one of the best on the planet (and I saw Zeppelin live!). Here's another 4 minutes of hard Rock from a good fan cam a couple of months ago - instrumental too, though I have to recommend anything where their vocalist sings too - th-cam.com/video/wnO3NAc0vLw/w-d-xo.html

That drummer is having the time of her life. I don't hate this, but I don't love it either. I will say, they are tight. Edit: they may grow on me with multiple listens.
Double thumbs up and a high 5! Yes yes I know I'm a Band-Maid fan boy but that's because of their abilities. World class percussion right there. You'll have a shit load of requests coming but when you find the time, please take a look at this th-cam.com/video/Eqwo40Io_Q8/w-d-xo.html A-chan doing what she does. Official vid here for Alone th-cam.com/video/axF56i4spio/w-d-xo.html if you fancy reacting to it. She melts me bro'
When you have a moment, would you please react to 15-year old, Courtney Hadwin's cover of the hip-hop + country fusion song, "Old Town Road"? She took this pop'ish song and completely turned it into a kick-ass rock song. She's only accompanied by an electric guitar and cajon, but it's her gritty voice that makes this video. ONLY 15!!! - th-cam.com/video/anwtg4C0PTc/w-d-xo.html

There are two kinds of rockers, Band-Maid fans, and people who just have not heard Band-Maid yet.
