I was on birth control since I had my son. It was forced on women on active duty status because we were accused of getting pregnant to get out of deployments. I found out about Art Cathey on TH-cam and removed my IUD on my own after leaving a toxic marriage and my body mind and soul are thriving because I'm living in alignment with who I am as a woman. No relaxers, and I cook all my own food.

Are we misinformed as far as options yes I agree. Is birth control given out like candy to women in the armed services yes, but forced on us, no. That’s inaccurate.

I had an iud insertion. My body rejected it the first time so I let them reinsert. My body rejected it AGAIN! I have clots the size of my palm, extremely heavy bleeding, weight gain, fatigue, headaches, fibroids, & host of other issues. My doctor suggested a hysterectomy. She never did an exam. I was desperate to feel like myself again so I made the appointment. Something in my soul however told me to try natural remedies first. I’ve been doing herbal teas, seamoss, organic molasses, Chasteberry tea, green smoothies , & oil rubs with heating pad for about 3 weeks now. I know I have a long way to go but I feel better. The bloating & hardness of my belly has decreased & I can walk up 5 stairs without feeling like I need to rest. Faith & work 🙏🏽

I agree here... I think they are leaning more to the way folks useta cook it back in the day-- lots of animal fats (which are better for us than oils), too much salt, and too much sugar (the ACTUAL culprit!) Otherwise, all soul food is, is veggies, legumes, meat & bread, ya know, like other folks eat.

dontlikeusernames absolutely!! According to several studies, the more sexual partners a woman has, the less likely she will be able to pair bond with her husband in the long run. She will get bored and search for that dopamine high with a different partner. Excess amounts of Oxytocin (bonding hormone) and Phenylethylamine (PEA) hormones turn loose. Thus making it practically impossible to commit to a long life relation. Her sexual history matters just as a man’s but a woman’s more so because females are build to EMOTIONALLY bond!

I used to have a happy period, but with dysmenorrhea i took depo to ease pain and mood swings but ended up more depressed ( due to real circumstances that was happening in my life) and now have an ovarian cyst. Also, I think I messed with my reproduction system and something was shifted after an abortion procedure I went through with due to fear.
I now have an 8 yr old son and he’s my world! I’m glad I chose to be a mom. It”s been hell being a single mother with no help almost breaking my back I complain sometimes only because I feel like no one cares about black women and we have to be so strong, and we are dying having kids for men that don’t even want us, having c sections performed on you to welcome a child into this world. It”s hard for women and have been since the beginning of time.... lSaying all that to say, we carry a lot of stress and if some of the burdens are lifted maybe we’ll have a chance in being around for the long haul.
I”m 34 as of today and wish I knew what I know now.The body isn’t too complex we just need the knowledge, so we can stop being dependent on pharmaceuticals and work on our mental health as well as our body and soul.......... @Barbara Van der Westhuizen Wrong. Many people know better than doctors based on their own experience and and similar experiences from thousands of other people. There are good doctors and bad. The vast majority of them don't know shit, and that's a fact. For the past decade doctors themselves have come out in public saying the same thing: that they really don't know anyting. They know how to prescribe medicine. Example: diabetes. Diabetes is 100% reversible. Yet, the vast majority of doctors deny that. We have to take charge of our own health. All of us, not just black folks. But hey you know, just do you.

I had sever brain fog and memory lapses. I had no idea what happened to me. I attributed everything to being a young mother, wife, and nursing student. Little did I know I was suffering with post tubal ligation syndrome. I suffered for years. I’m 41 now and was diagnosed with 6 fibroids one being the size of a grapefruit. Awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) is essential for everyone, but especially us African Americans. Epigenetics are a very important aspect of what I learned through the study of ACEs. The word "Childhood" does not eliminate the relevance to trauma even experienced as adults, but the earlier and longer the trauma experienced, the more devastating the effects may be, including effects to our physical, mental and even physiological health and functioning.

Furthermore they are being very misleading about estrogen signaling. I study estrogen and cancer. It can be a carcinogen just as testosterone can be for men. Just as testosterone can be bad for cardiovascular health. When talking about estrogen, you have to be clear that this is about balance. Yes stress and epigenetics can influence the extent to which we produce estrogen, but stress also increases other steroid production and those steroids can have other damaging impact. Estradiol was mentioned. It is important to woman’s health. It is protective in many ways. Black women are protected from many diseases because how we produce estradiol (our bone health and immune systems for example benefit from increased estrogen). Estrogen is essential for maintaining heart health and an aggressive immune system during pregnancy. The caveat is that our immune system’s sensitivity to estrogen doesn’t help us in the event of cancer. But again, it is about balance. Also, esterone is the estrogen that predominantly interacts with some cells to increase their fat content, but is not a major player in the female reproductive tract as the ovaries don’t predominantly produce that kind of estrogen. Esterone can be heavily influenced by diet and other factors such as testosterone levels in a woman. Again, it is about balance. Estrogen therapy should be suggested when necessary and estrogen removal should be suggested when necessary. As someone training to be a doctor I find them so misleading because for one they are not seeing patients. They don’t provide clinical care. I’m not saying alternative medicine is trash. I actually think it is useful. These individuals are selling a product. They sell lifestyle like pharmaceuticals sell pills.

Doctors are not impressive to those of us who know!!! Holistic healing is the way to go...Alkaline unprocessed food, alkaline herbs, and retraining the brain, does the job with no side effects...so study all you want...you are being miss-led. This western lifestyle is killing people...the medical and pharmaceutical industry are not invested in the cure, they want to keep people sick!

    • @chololate94
      @chololate94 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

I never negated holistic lifestyles. I only spoke to the way they were making facts work for them as opposed to letting them be facts. I specifically said I think alternative medicines are useful. We live in a world of nuance. Two things can be true at once. You can have improved health due to herbs and other plant based supplements. You can also have a group of people misconstruing scientific facts. I never said anything against their product more natural means of healing. I spoke to the science that they were getting wrong and how that was dangerous. If herbs work for you GREAT. But don’t eliminate what options for other people who may need them. And I will continue to study what I study because I do it for my people. PERIOD.

What I got from the discussion concerning estrogen is that we are being bombarded with estrogen that is where the problem lies... The is estrogen in the pesticides that is sprayed on food, estrogen in medication, added estrogen in meats, etc....the true science is in nature, allopathic medicine is synthetic, synthetics are not compatible in bodies, which is why there are so many side effects. Yes there is a place for allopathic medicine, however, man made science don’t produce facts, it’s all theoretical!!! How many times have the theories/studies been proven wrong???Also the study outcome almost always sway towards the agenda of those paying for the studies...
Let’s face it the money is not in the cure, it’s in the sickness!!!

You can start by removing acid forming food from your diet, (meat, dairy, starchy foods, all processed foods, most beans, etc)
Research mucus less diet, you only want to eat alkaline foods, also you can start with a few alkaliizing herbs to help cleanse and replenish your body... the burdock root, yellow dock, red clover, sarsaparilla, turkey rhubarb, cascara sagrada, nettle...
the affordability is really easier than most realize...if we stop putting so much of our money
in commercial holidays that don’t benefit us, or investing hundreds in weaves and chemicals for our hair that harm us, nail salons that give us cancer and respiratory issues, fast and processed foods...instead, invest those funds into our health and well being

I don't mean to offend, but these meds have serious effect. Fibroids, PCOS, cancers, infertility, etc.

Coach Gessie doesn't like to share the floor. Let the doctor's speak! Let them share their expertise. Geesh

I have always had heavy cycle, and every time I get checked at the OBGYN nothing is wrong with me.

This makes me so sick to hear. I have the same problem. 2 months ago it got so out of control the docs told me to take ibuprofen. They said it was like this because i stopped breastfeeding. At my next doc appointment they put me on the IUD saying it would slow the bleeding. It didn't. Now i'm having clots. They still say nothing is wrong. I don't believe it.

Ladies I’ve been SUFFERING with fibroids and endometriosis for about 6 years until I came across a supplement called Endovan. It has nearly reversed my pain. And the level of pain was so severe that I’d nearly blackout. I would scream from the agony.
Diet is definitely the most important thing, so these folk’s advice is very important. You can add a supplement to their protocol.
I also take DIM which helps to regulate/metabolize estrogen. You can get DIM at your local grocery store.
