Hip-Hop is something that all Americans should feel incredibly proud of. It's too bad the mainstream media tries it's best to corrupt and exploit it at every turn. Peace to all the B-Boys and B-Girls and all those in Hip-hop!
But what they missing is the rawness redbull bc next month gonna be crazy my brother ruen is set to be one of the judges hyped!!! It’s just begun the media
Yup they will do anything to degrade and discredit hip hop. Imagine the hate they feel knowing that the poor people created a legitimate multi-faceted art form.
Bless up to Sway and the rest of the crew for actually talking about the event as a whole for the Bboys and Bgirls. My respect for you just went a million times more through the roof. ✊🏾
Thank you Sway for shining light on my guy Victor. I keep seeing major platforms only talking about the one breaker that everyone keeps making fun of and all it does is spread a negative outlook on breakin. So many dope B Boys B girls held it down and we gotta spotlight them and show love! Especially Victor who brought a medal back home to the US!!! Hip Hop appreciates you Sway!!!
@@addictedtocrashing7205 these are facts. And I know, I’m a professional MC and Dancer so I’ve been around him in many instances where he’s holding it down. It just sucks some others aren’t doing the same now
GO VICTOR!!! SO PROUD OF YOU! I remember hanging with him in Orlando back when I used to live there. I was in a Christian breaking community and he would come in and out from time to time. He was so down to earth and kind. Rock solid dude. Blessing to know him. Thanks for making this video
I absolutely loved watching breaking in the Olympics. The degree of difficulty the competitors displayed is equal to any other event at the Olympics. Plus it was a great display of hip hop and its influence worldwide!
seeing bboy Ivan at every wake up show event and then now hearing Ivan coach the USA team with Victor doing an interview on sways universe comes full circle inspiring. this is why we are hip hop.
Just like he mentioned people in Hip Hop can reinvent themselves, just like Snoop, Sway has also been a living testament of that. Great interview, and getting him a doorway into movies. This platform is real Hip Hop
I would love today to see Breaking, Graffiti, & DJ'ng come back to the mainstream masses...Thanks Sway's Universe for giving flowers to Hip Hop culture(i.e, all 9 elements)...Respect
@@undisputedtruth6176YOU stop the nonsense. This is what the originators WANTED with hip-hop. They knew it was something beautiful to be shared. They traveled the world to spread the artform. Stop trying to gatekeep it. What would happen if Chinese people tried to stop the Wu-Tang clan from sampling their music and kung fu movies as influences? What would happen if there were Chinese people that stopped Bboy Crumbs from being inspired by kung fu movies? Breaking is one of those dances that always gives respect back to the black originators. We were already aware of how important they are. History is very important to hip-hop and breaking is one of the only branches of hip-hop that acknowledges it.
❤This interview.Congrats Victor on winning your bronze medal! Your breaking performance was spectacular!😊😊😊😊And congratulations to all the b-girls and b-boys.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Wow. Ken Swift used to sleep at Sway’s place? What!??? Much love to Sway for supporting breaking so much. Vicious Victor is such a great ambassador for breaking!
I'm an old-school hip-hop artist, and I love breaking. But I feel that if it's going to be in a competition like the Olympics, which draws a different sort of crowd, then the way the competition is run needs to change. I was really looking forward to seeing crews battle each other, but instead, it was just one-on-one competitions. Normally, in crew battles, they send out their specialists head-to-head, and the moves get more difficult as it progresses. In the Olympics, the audience isn't the typical fan base-there are a lot of casual viewers who need to be educated. So, much of the time is spent explaining things to the audience. When I watched it on TV, I couldn’t even hear the music because the commentators were so loud. I thought, "Enough with the talk; talk is cheap when you’re dancing-it’s about the movement." Here’s my idea: instead of individual battles, each country should send two crews, and the competition should focus on different set elements of breaking. For example, start with footwork-each crew sends out their footwork specialist, then move on to other categories like power moves or combinations. The rounds would progress with increasingly difficult moves, and the audience would know what to expect. This way, there’s no need to over-explain to the audience, and we can better showcase the different styles and complexities of breaking culture as an art form. With this structure, you wouldn’t need that many judges. It’d be very obvious who the winner is because they’re going head-to-head on the specific element. This would make the competition more straightforward and easier to judge.
thank you for having super human supavic, building on the momentum of the olympics. i was starting to get frustrated with the negative media but he had a beautiful perspective
Love, Peace and Respect to Sway, Heather B, Tracy G, Mike Muse and especially BBoy Victor for this DOPE interview!! I love his perspective about Hip Hop culture and the Raygun situation, using it to put the spotlight on Breaking and Hip Hop culture, Word!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎤🔥
21:02 especially in America, we don't have access. Other sports have college programs with scholarships, equipment, paid coaches, training facilities, endorsements, semi-pro and pro leagues, professional tours, etc. Tennis has USTA ranking, Tennis clubs.... but Bboys?... we have practice spots. America delegitimizes our art form where our greatest success is achieved internationally. Even if we come together, what do we have access to once organized?
What pissed me off was the fact that they didn't show it on PrimeTime. They threw the bone and basically said, "You're lucky we included you." They showed it on E Channel!
If ppl dnt like breakin in the olympics, then why is artistic swimming, cuz that ain't a sport to me. They do ballet in the water. With music. And what about the other sport where females do flips and dance to music on the floor?
Yo I was at that Red bull Comp in Orlando took my nephew he still talks about it. Till this day . I lost mind when Fif pop up on stage after the competition Cypher circles continued for like 2 hours after
There are younger bgirls coming up like Sya Dembélé who are amazing. Can't wait to see what they can do in a few years. I've seen her break and she's a trip to watch. Can't believe she got zero points against the Japanese Yuasa. How is that possible??
wild thing is that the first time i saw anyone other than the lady from australia perform was a couple days ago!! she totally killed it for real dancers!! dont get me wrong i believe that lady has a true passion for the art, but passion and talent are two different things!! i came up with hip hop in the 90's, but my bars are straight garbage juice so i understand my lane with it, so turn on the Kane, Krs-One, PE, Queen Latiffah, ATCQ, MC Lyte , Pac, and Biggie and i will just rap along with them 🤷♂😄

Give thanks to the Black American creators
Yup they will do anything to degrade and discredit hip hop. Imagine the hate they feel knowing that the poor people created a legitimate multi-faceted art form.
Puerto Rico aint really America. We should celebrate what poor Black and Brown people created while America oppressed them.
Thanks Sway for actually taking a serious look at the Olympic Breaking competition as opposed to soley boosting meme culture.
We should start a petition to keep breaking in the Olympics
They better should otherwise Canada will hold the title of Olympic men's breaking gold medal winner forever.
YOU CAN'T BEAT THE WIZ!
Why ?? T he olympics suck
Seriously man. can’t believe they have air gun shooting as a sport like no fucking way
It’s not happening usa already picked their sports.
Yes!!! That is a petition worth while!!

Big respect to Sway for showing love to what real breakin is. Thanks for giving Vic the platform to speak🙌🏼
I remember Sway was a part of Red Bull BC One 2009. Was dope to see him there while KRS1 was the announcer.
So good to see outlets like Sway actually bringing attention to the medalists. Gotta get the Rest of them on now
Mad Props to Victor! I truly hope things get cleared up over all the "focus" on ONE participant and Breaking comes back to the Olympics in the future!
Terrific interview, B-Boy Victor makes us Americans proud! Congrats on the medal, & best wishes on your upcoming battles.
Just like he mentioned people in Hip Hop can reinvent themselves, just like Snoop, Sway has also been a living testament of that. Great interview, and getting him a doorway into movies. This platform is real Hip Hop

That Ray got more screen time than he did. What a tragedy.
nice musical speaking voice, makes sense since he's a dancer and involved with music
Thank you for providing us a means of sharing valuable content for those that are curious about the culture ❤
