Yes, that's his sister and family. Ms. Han Hong, the original composer-singer of the song called him during the competition and she calls Dimash her second adopted son adoringly. And the fountains are real in his concert, not projections.😊

The young lady is Rashun, his younger sister. He adores her to the moon and back.
She is now in college with a goal of being a Medical Doctor. She is also a fine equestrian and often accompanies her brother
when he is performing out of country. Their father, (Kanat) is always with Dimash as he is his manager and Dimash want him there to be held accountable. They are a highly moral Muslim family and very close as a family. There are videos of Dimash
holding Rashun and Monsur (his younger brother). He gladly takes any infant and holds them in his arms and cuddles them and kisses them on their cheeks or head. If a baby in his arms gets fussy, he is not one to give them back to the mother or father but gently quiets them. A really nice fellow.
So grateful to you for being willing to check out the back story of this song before reacting to it. It has been so frustrating to see others simply jump to the Bastau version with no clue of what the song is about and then being able to only experience half of its emotional impact.

In the Bastau version, even the guard in charge of controlling the audience twisted his neck and watched him when he hit the highest note of the song. Thank you for this great reaction.
Also I believe Dimash said he couldn’t believe what he could do in the Singer performance & that his voice left him him as soon as he left the stage.. he is a man of great faith & credit that with the ability to make it through the song.

👉 This song based on a true tragic story and is very well known in China. In 1999 14 people died in a cable car accident in China. The parents of a little boy lifted their son to safety, and they themselves died. Original singer and songwriter Han Hong later adopted the child.
Dimash sings with so much pain in his voice it literally tears him apart ... and I can't stop crying.
First, Dimash sang this song 2017 at the competition "The Singer". (There is an interesting background video on Gloria Wu's channel with the first version of this song by Dimash). As Dimash his voice lost (Singer 2017), he received some injections in the throat and a competitor gave him 'traditional medicine'. After this performance, he was asked how his neck felt and he said it felt like broken glass in it. Shortly after he sang, he lost his voice again.

Hi Tirallala, I have been trying to research this story in a little more depth for years but there seems to be very little available about it on the internet--perhaps due to Chinese secrecy actions. I have always wondered how it was that the child was "lifted" to safety and yet the parents ended up dying. To whom or where was he "lifted" and what actually killed the parents? Any idea? Anyone?

As I remember it it was a very difficult rescue-operation that lasted for many, many hours. I don't think all the ones who passed fell imediately.. People were clinging on for their lives and I THINK there was more than one "car" involved. Maybe one fell directly and one dangeled in the sky, I'm not sure.. But I remember that the rescue was extremely difficult because of the hight and maybe even weathersurcomstances. And it also got dark after some time, and they unfortunately had to pause the rescueoperation over night with people still alive in the car/cars..
The whole thing wasn't over until the next day.
At "Daybreak", I guess..
That's how I think the song got its name. But that is just MY personal way of thinking..
I don't know how many survivors there where besides the boy. But if I recall it right, there were some at least that managed to get to the rescuepersonal in time.
The limited information on the internet paints another picture. With the car falling immediately, and those parents "holding the boy up" somehow so he wasn't injured. But that's not at all how I remember it... And I do believe there where several survivors.

@@rose-maries7131 Thanks, Rose-Marie. That makes a lot of sense, especially explains the part about "Daybreak." I guess perhaps the child was lifted to a rescuer and the parents were left to hang until their car dropped before rescuers could get to them, killing them. I did quite a bit of research on this two years ago and could find so little about it on the internet that I almost came to believe the story had been fabricated, at which time it occurred to me that the Chinese government covers up a lot of things that might make them look inept. I suspect that is what happened here. Thank you for your input. I think that is a good explanation of what likely happened. Greetings back to you from Seattle, USA.

Hello dear, In an interview Dimash said he had four injections, he sang feeling like he had broken glass in his throat and after
the presentation lost its voice again!. He feels that it was God who helped him interpret the song.
And on Gloria's website you will find the story about "Autumn Strong" another beautiful song with a deeply moving tone that only Dimash knows how to deliver.

Capisco la tua emozione, una volta che si conosce la storia, a anche i problemi di salute di Dimash a "I'm a singer", non si può non commuoversi. Sull'esibizione in Cina ti aggiungo qualcosa: Dimash ha ricevuto 5 iniezioni in gola per poter cantare, ma non sono servite. Prima di esibirsi aveva forti dolori e niente voce. Sul palco la canzone è tornata ma Dimash ha detto che era come avere un bichiere rotto in gola ad ogni nota. Dopo l'esibizione era di nuovo senza voce. L'anno successivo, lui e Han Hong si sono conosciuti! Riguardo Bastau: le fontane, i giochi d'acqua, non credo siano un caso....nella valle in cui la cabina è crollata, c'è una cascata....vedere Dimash cantare il punto di vista del bambino con le fontane dietro di lui, è come vedere il bambino con la cascata dietro di lui, nel giorno dell'incidente 😭

There is very little reporting to read on the internet about the accident. And in that limited reporting it sounds like the car went down imediately. And somehow the parents "held the boy up" so he wasn't really injured at all. But the drop was tremedes.. So I can't se how that was possible..
I think the rescueoperation was very chaotic and difficult and longlasting, but now the only information left is that suddenly the car (that was carrying more people than it should have) just dropped. But that's not at all how I remember it...

Now you know why I always recommend G Wu's channel on YT. It makes so much more to the song and seeing Dimash backstage makes his performance even more intimate. You will get to see him meet Jackie Chan, and other fun things.
It's hard not to get emotional with this one - particularly the Bastau version. Dimash so accurately inhabits the anguish of the child - in his dress - his facial expressions - body gestures... all underpinning that incredible vocal delivery.
I totally feel you in this reaction. I was a complete mess uncontrollably crying everytime I watched the Bastau version of this song.

This is brutal. And Dimash delivers. How? I have no idea. Except he is simply brilliant in every way. His love for family must have influenced this performance. Good God. If your eyes are dry after this you are not human. Wolf will be gob smacked.
On top of everything else he had 1 week to learn to sing this in what has been described as perfect Mandarin ! The biggest difference is he doesn't hold the high notes as long in China , but it comes off more emotional .
Beautiful reaction, Yuri. I think that the frustration you hear in this song is very real. Han Hong's parents had to leave her for adoption when she was a young girl and her personal feelings of abandonment are part of why she identified so closely with the young orphan.

Hello , personally this is one of the most emotional, and powerful performances by Dimash. He was really very sick, they gave him 3 injections, and even so, he felt very bad, and he could not give his 100% that, it made me very sad for him. In the second, he can give himself completely, it shows in his voice. The water sources are natural. I look forward to reactions to "Aikinade" Sublime.

The Singer version is necessary for the story and the Bastau version is necessary for the “wow” factor. I believe it is one of the greatest vocal performances in history.

Thanks a lot for this reaction, this is indeed one of the most emotional song by Dimash. The first time I read the translation, I cried during one hour. Now, when I listen to it, I withdraw the subtitles, it is too hard, too sad. The Bastau version is absolutely exceptional, a masterpiece, but the Singer version is so touching... both are gorgeous. I know you've already reacted to "Ave Maria," so maybe your Christmas feature could be another emotional song with a back story, "Ikanaide," which was performed by Dimash as "Autumn Strong" (or "Late Autumn") in China in 2017 but is performing it in Japanese in this recent video for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. You mentioned that "Daybreak" was the first song to make you feel so emotional but if you learn the back story to this song before responding to it I think you will find that it is as intensely emotional as "Daybreak."
The voice miraculously came back during singing and when he finished singing, it went away. 😊

Like now, you will understand it, the words about his range will be littlier and littlier. For me his voice, range is an instrument, i listen the music across it. Always it has meaning, if he sings higth or low to feel better the song. But we know, it need time after the sock what we had first because his range and technic. Hi Yuri, thanks for a great reaction. Indeed it’s good to check the background story behind the song. It gives more depth to his interpretations. Beautiful and sad song. In actual fact this story is more tragic then what they described in the video. The parents didn’t push the child out of danger as they were inside a falling cable. In their desperation to safe their child, split second decision, they raised the child with their arms above them and as the cable crushed the child was cushioned by their bodies. Their last piece of hope to save their son. A display of pure love.
As this reaction was so great why not do something similar with Autumn Strong with the background story, you’ll find it in Gloria Wu channel, here he sings in Chinese for the first time followed by his performance at this year Tokyo Jazz Festival where he sings the original song in Japanese for the first time. Я думаю что ребенка успели передать спасателям а кабина сорвалась и они упали на смерть

Bastau version is the best! I’m singer version, Dimash was sick! He lost his voice the day before !

Thank you so much for this reaction 👍👏. You made my day 🤩. I am very glad and grateful that you reacted to both versions of Daybreak. I can’t say which of the two I like the most, but I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen the Singer version before. As somebody already mentioned before, I totally agree that it is always very frustrating when some people jump on the Bastau version and don‘t even try to activate the subtitles. I can understand that a lot of Dears prefer reactions to this version because it is just incredibly more powerful. In my opinion, however, it loses at bit of its impression, if you don’t know why he sings, the way he sings. Most of them then only react to the tones and pitches. But not because of the obvious desperation that Dimash expresses in this version. Dimash is so much more than that. He‘s also such an incredibly talented performer and I just can’t understand that some people say he sings without emotion… What do they see…?
However, I also think that he looks so emotional in the Singer version mainly because he was in a lot of pain and probably just hoped that his voice would hold out until the end. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. And yes he got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital . After the performance he lost his voice again. There is a video of him holding his throat and shaking his head right after the performance. The other competitors knew he was not doing well and one oft them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. You can see how they suffered with him. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover 😥.

Yes! The contestants/friends knew of his issue and instructions not to hit high notes. Hence their concerned faces when he starts hitting those belts and high notes. A big part of the emotion felt from his performance is from his physical pain pushing those notes out. It hurts to see him in so much pain.

Awesome wonderful reaction. I actually really like the old Dimash performance, Hello and Show must go on during Singwr is Incredible. If your looking a little bit more of rock War and Peace, Durdaraz and Across Endless Dimensions will give you that feel. Samaltau Tokyo Jazz version is my favorite, you’ll able to experience a Kazakh folk music, the instruments that being used is really cool.
