  • Medtronic PLC (MDT) is one of the premier “Big 4” medical device stocks. This high-quality blue-chip dividend growth stock has increased its dividend for 45 consecutive years with no end in sight. Mr. Market normally prices this blue-chip at a premium valuation. However, Medtronic, which started out significantly overvalued in 2022, has recently moved into fair value territory. Consequently, this is a rare opportunity to invest in this A rated dividend growth stock with low debt to capture a dividend yield that is currently over 3%.
In this video, I cover the basic fundamental valuation modalities which indicate a research candidate worthy of conducting a more comprehensive research effort. Additionally, I will illustrate how easy it is to conduct that research effort when you have the proper research tools at your disposal. In short, FAST Graphs make it easier and faster to research a stock than ever before.

Phenomenal investment that has been in my portfolio for a long-while. I do not think it gets enough credit within the dividend investor community and often flies under the radar. Solid stock to buy and hold... Medical devices aren't going anywhere anytime soon, especially from this medical industry leader... I am debating however to sell on the rebound and put all the capital into my JNJ position to build it up substantially as I am to trim my portfolio!

    Excellent summary.
I'm finding more and more subtle and intuitive features in FASTgraphs. It is a powerful visual analysis tool.
So much depends on valuation (today's analysis) and forecasts (tomorrow's projections). FASTgraphs presents both of these visually in a very intuitive way.
As I write this, Deutsche Bank downgraded MDT. This will now change the shape of the consensus forecast in FASTgraphs. The tool presents all current and historical information clearly and visually.
Having said all that, with this volatility and pivot expectations, I'd love to start hearing your analysis of 5 or 6 good valuation opportunities each week.
    Keep up the great work!

Monster stock price drop this month. Could be a value play and the finances are more than great I think (no debt, low payout ratio, 21% dividend growth..). hey Chuck Amanda again, Im trying to absorb all your info, great stuff but a lot of info to take in but im trying, so with all the ups and downs in the times ahead and doing a lot of due dilligence to make a buy, and of course knowing the true fact that you cant pick a top or bottom, incidently I dont buy any risky stocks anymore as I lost a lot of money in the past doing this, my question is , even though a purchase of a top notch company whose price drops we hang on to it knowing that it will recover at some point in the future as we have done our research ,and hopefully it doesnt take to long to do that, what are your thoughts on actually selling the equity at a point in time, what is the signal to do that, I have recently bought Amazon at $135 then dropped in this choppy market and bought more at $85 as I know its only going to go higher , although it cou;ld go lower and im not to worried about that as I would have been 8 yrs ago, so what would you look at to make a sell decision thanks Chuck I value your advice

What the tax implications of an Irish company of a taxable account?

    • @FASTgraphs
      @FASTgraphs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dividend Withholding Tax Information
Medtronic plc has established tax residence in Ireland, and as such, dividends are considered Irish source income and Irish dividend withholding tax (“DWT") rules apply. Beginning with the dividend payable on April 15, 2015, payments will be subject to an Irish withholding tax unless the shareholder that is beneficially entitled to the dividend is a resident of the United States or a resident of a country listed as a “relevant territory”, and has ensured that the required information is on file with their broker, bank, qualifying intermediary or transfer agent (see below for more detail). With these rules, the vast majority of Medtronic shareholders and beneficial owners are entitled to an exemption from DWT.
Please answer the following questions to find out how to obtain an exemption from the Irish Dividend Withholding Tax (DWT) on your Medtronic plc shares. A W-9 or a W8-BEN is still required to avoid United States Dividend Tax withholding. You may already have these documents on file with your financial institution.
If Irish Dividend Withholding Tax (DWT) has been previously assessed to your account and you are looking for direction on claiming a tax refund or tax credit information click here.
It is up to each individual to review each alternative as it applies to their specific situation, evaluate its viability in the context of your overall investment strategy, and decide which one is right for you. As part of this process, you may wish to consult your own broker, financial advisor or tax advisor for their professional assistance. Not all alternatives may be right for you. MDT is a great dividend stock. Solid and reliable - just like you, Chuck. I remember some folks, even rather well informed, getting excited at $110-$105, 7-8 months ago. But a very quick valuation by Fastgraphs would have given the clear picture right away as always: This stock surely needs a P/E of no more than 15 in order for it to give some decent returns going forward. That's based on history as showed by FastGraphs and facts and not just some bull market hyped up p/e. At $82 it is a pretty nice deal for sure. Fastgraphs is so amazing in its simplicity. Actually I'd like it very much, if you made a video solely on stocks which historically has been highly coveted and thus richly valued by the market. What defines them and which characteristics (probably something with above par ROIC/ROE and great margins) do they have in common?

However always follow the tips ,save and invest wisely and make sure to diversify investments so when another is down the other is up. you can do so by getting an experienced firm whose platform has diverse investment choices to choose from. By doing this you give little room for regrets and perhaps gain more.

Sales growth since the end of the financial crisis has been less than 5%, currently there has been a dividend of more than 3% for a long time, FCF growth in recent years has been just over 1%. I don't think these are all numbers that will knock your socks off in any way. The continuous growth (albeit at a very low level) and/or the financial strength as "A" rated and with very little debt is certainly positive.

This is another wonderful video. At the risk of repeating myself, just wanted to ask about TSCO (Tractor Supply Co). Have you done any recent videos on TSCO? They have generated large returns for shareholders over the past few decades. It seems to be one of those stocks that only goes up year after year and the business does not seem to be high risk or have esoteric business dynamics either. Good old fashioned rural retailing, much like a Walmart or a Berkshire Hathaway/Munger/Terry Smith type of investment where you just buy and never sell. The stock, or I should say the underlying great company, does all the compunding work over time. Thanks! - Tom
